We just got back from camping in Arizona two state campgrounds in lakes. Both with water, electricity and dump stations. New and modern clean bathroom/ shower at one. Paid around $120 for four nights each. Then stayed at a BLM campground on a lake for $15 a night.

I was just there last week and over the weekend! We mostly paddle boarded at the Boulder recreation area with no motorized boats. Absolutely gorgeous views.

I live on the boarder of apache junction and have been to canyon lake many many times. Love it up there. Used to fish and swim there , now i also kayak it. Everything about that marina
resturant and campground is way over priced. SAD. Looks like you had a quiet peacful couple days . Love the two legged visitors you had. Joey is so very well behaved.
My family and myself have been to Canyon lake several times,we picnic and fish and just enjoy the scenery and fresh air

It looks beautiful but I don’t think I have ever spent that much for a campsite, not even with hookups. Floating on the water does look fun.
I would never pay $70/night even if it had full hookups! That's ridiculous! I would expect a pool, spa and extras for that price.

How freaking gorgeous is this area?! I wouldn't be able to leave..... well maybe in the summer when it's really hot :) But this would be "my spot" in the winter for sure. Too bad it's so expensive, right? But the area itself is so beautiful and I am hoping there are camping areas around there that are cheaper. I wonder how much those big campers spent with full hook-up there?
Beautiful spot but yikes, $70/night seems pricey for what you get. I love that you share the names of the camping places you go to (obviously, after you have left - safety first!). Lots of folks don't and it's nice to be able to bookmark places for future travels from seeing your experience at the different places. I also love that Joey is so comfortable on the paddleboard. Great location right on the water, but for the price they are charging they should really clean their bathroom/shower, the sink alone was filthy. I hope you wore your shower shoes !!! Have a great week, Chantelle :-)

How in the WORLD did you get a spot!? When I got my van in October I looked online and nothing was available for months on end!
I've taken that Steamboad out on the lake and it's really beautiful...took so many photos....at leaat now I know what to expect if I'm ever able to spend the night there, thanks for the information.
Yeah no way would I spend $70 for a tent site, but it did practically guarantee you a bit of privacy, which is priceless on the road!

That place was beautiful. It seemed high priced, but one night in a hotel would cost you that. I guess you pay for the scenery and peace and quiet

I actually didn't know you had to get 2 nights? Lol Also, I got the reservation a few days before I went. It was a weekday reservation. The weekend was full, though!

Sometimes you gotta treat yourself... The shower helps make it worth it... Snd im sure you save ALOT boondocking...

How to find camp sites like this?
Well I saw it a couple years ago when driving to Tortilla Flat, which was recommended to me from someone I had met on the road.
