1986 was such great times. Who else remembers this back in the 1980’s?
Sure do remember. Music like this is not made anymore. 80s were great.
I do. I visited family in Hungary and the communist government wouldn't let me leave and my four year old daughter. It took a whole year before we were allowed to return to the U.S.
@@byronmouton9527
I know, Pet Shop Boys were one of my favorite groups back in the 80’s. First came West End Girls, then Suburbia. Later in 1988 I remembered Domino Dancing, then my all-time favorite, Heart.
I hope that they will make concerts again. I would love to hear them again.

Hungary, that is A Nation behind the Iron Curtain. Am I correct? So is Romania. Nadia Comaneci did not defect to the United States until 1989.
I used to hear this "80's dance crap" stuff in the clubs the GF's used to insist we visit. Being a "metal guy" hated it at the time but certainly enjoying it 35 years later. Some of this stuff turn out to be pretty timeless.
Thanks to the commercial, this song is now #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs Chart, and #2 on the iTunes Dance Chart. Pretty cool a commercial has exposed a lot of new fans to an all-time great duo.
Yes you're right my royal highness
That's because we need to turn time back and go back then when everything was easier and happier
I got back into listening to The Fixx because of the song that was used in a commercial. The sing is called "Saved by Zero"

NOTHING BEATS THE 80's MUSIC!
Maybe early 90's techno. But I did say maybe

Good music is good music no matter what era you grew up with. You just to have respect for other music not just the music that you like.
So true miss it
Thank you Tetris for reintroducing this classic.
This song hit no. 1 February 27, 2021 on the Billboard/Dance Electronic Digital Songs. 40 years later and it topped out everything in the present day. In some ways the 80s never died and still live today.
Goes to show people that good music does well in any generation.
Your kidding? That’s amazing!!! Truly incredible when classics(especially 80s classics)are remembered.

I had this album "Opportunities" and other PSB albums on cassette tape. I listened to it on my walkman and boom box. I've been a massive PSB fan since the early 80's. Believe it or not, PSB once opened for Depeche Mode. The 80's was absolutely glorious. I'm so very grateful to have been a teen in the 80's. Thank you.
Interestingly, both bands are going strong still. I've seen both in concert in the last few years. DM is down from 4 guys to 2 though.

I was a 70's teen and love many 70's songs, but, the 80's ruled in both music and girls.
Band is making lots of money now with their old song in the car insurance commercial. A person with brains came up with the great commercial, hope they got a big bonus. :D
I’ve got this pitch, right. Of a person driving his car listening to a song about making lots of money...only for our AllState ad, it’s actually about saving a lot of money! Oh, and there’s a singing hood ornament.

That Allstate ad brought this song back to the forefront! I had forgotten how great this song is! And it’s got a good message, too.
I posted a video titled "Hand Drawn Opportunities". It has this song.

Holy fack. I haven't seen this video in 25 years. Good times.
Back when MTV had good music videos
From my teenage years to my 40s, I completely adore these two ❤
Hearing this song in the All-State ad reminded me of how great the PSB are. I still have my cassette tapes of them from high school. Good memories of great music. This song & Peter Gabriel's Big Time were my theme songs as I worked to get tf out of poverty! Happy to report that I was successful.
"There's a lot of opportunities, if you know when to take them, you know. There's a lot of opportunities, if there aren't you can make them, make or break them." You can't buy better advice. Far too few people follow it. ❤
Good group but they weren’t a ‘force’ like Ac/DC w/ Bon Scott or the Ramones were🎸

The 1980s was one of the most innovative decades in music history. The technology evolved rapidly.
I love the fact this song is enjoying a second wind in mainstream popularity due to things like the Tetris movie, and it featuring in a popular advert shown during the Superbowl in the US. I always felt this was one of Neil and Chris' very best numbers which should have been an even bigger hit than it was in the UK first time, or even second time around.
After listening to the remix, I swear at 2:28 I can hear korobeiniki lol

Class of '86
@@yankeedave - Class of '86 here too! The best decade for movies, music, and TV shows (well tied for the 70s since I'm old enough to appreciate the entertainment of that decade too). Today is all unoriginal mindless mush in all three. Or at best retreads. I remember when Elton John was asked on a late night talk show in the late 1990s by one of the big three late night hosts I can't remember which - he was asked when he wrote the song theme for the 1994 movie Lion King what he thought about the music of that 90s decade's music. He essentially said people had run out of original writing talent. He was so right over 20 years ago. Notice the increase in popularity of company marketing teams using classic songs in their ads - specifically around the Big 80s! Nobody can write melodies anymore. Elton saw it coming too. We now have an entire generation who grew up with simpleton thinking computers doing their "music" for them and they couldn't write a melody on sheet paper if their lives depended on it. Hell most probably couldn't even read a basic piano lesson sheet and play it.

I grew up a child of the 60s, a teen in the 70s, and came of age in the 80s. I look back at each of those decades and I’m very happy to have been a part of each. Each decade had unique and distinct music that I absolutely bonded with. This song is full of everything that was the 80s. I became a guy in the 90s, a man in the 2000s, and now I’m just an old guy with lots of great memories. One of the things about music, is they are tied to certain memories, and that’s just fantastic. I get a kick out of hearing a song and a certain someone, something, or whatever comes to mind.
Did we share a life?

И, в случае необходимости, готов их повторить, хотя здоровье уже не совсем то, что было раньше.
@@user-in1gv3zo3s- All true, but time slowly eroded many things. Sometimes I look in the mirror and wonder who that guy is looking back at me. It’s a stark reminder of Father Time doing his thing. I don’t know when it all happened, but here we are. Like the minute had of a clock, you don’t see it moving but it does. I don’t do anything the same in my 60s as I did even in my 50s, let alone 20s and 30s, and that’s ok. It’s just how it is and I’m at peace with it. I still do things, even purchased my first motorcycle and licensed at the age of 61, and I’m loving it. It’s definitely on the dangerous side, and I am very cautious when I ride, but I don’t think I would have felt the same about riding and my abilities when younger. It's one of early iconic videos by Polish Master Zbigniew Rybczynski. Even today it's still highly impressive, how he achieved that flow of images and perfect timing without CGI.
+Adrian Szczypinski CGI did come out in the 80's you know
But it wasn't really used in this video.
***** I didn't say it did, But I just mean't in general CGI did good things in Films, TV Shows, Adverts, etc in the 80's :-]
There were some very impressive Video Editing machines since at least the 70s but the 80s really are the time where there was a sudden explosion of possibilities. Especially with such tools like the Fairlight CVI. And even for smaller budgets there were things like the Video Toaster for Commodore Amiga computers. All you needed were a few Videotape machines for the source video and a recording deck for the mixed video. Who knows how many layers they had to record and then use again to create even more parallax layers. Max Headroom was another good example of 80s Video editing technology with minimal or no CGI at all being used.
That background *is* 80s CGI.
