best example that a great beat and melody are enough to make a great song, even people that could not understand a single word of german rocked to this song
I think that is something general that you notice about music. First and foremost there must be a good beat, rhythm, and sound, past that the words, or meanings are less important. Even if you do not know German, all Falco's songs are better in German, than in English. Also all Nena's songs including 99 Luftballons. The original German version is tops. Don't listen to the English version. Also, the Peter Schilling "Major Tom" is better in German, because that was the original and it sounds better, whether or not you can understand it.
Back when this song was popular, a radio station in Louisville Kentucky was changing its call letters. I believe it was from WKJJ to WDJX. The DJ at the time disagreed and locked himself in the booth. He managed to play this song at least 37 times in a row before they could unlock the booth and take over. That was nearly 40 years ago and a wonderful memory from my childhood.

Es ist irgendwie ironisch wie er über Amadeus hier singt, er war ein Superstar und Idol ein musikalisches Genie und doch war sein Leben tragisch und ist jung von uns gegangen. Beide Mozart und Falco.
@@AdeamosCaar I don't know about that, it's said that he was very popular but we weren't there to see it, but now after many many years after his death he is
@@AdeamosCaar well, part of that statement is true. Mozart was loved during the first years he lived in Vienna. Trouble was, he was one of the first composers who chose to live on commissions he earned from what we now call free lance work. Most composers til then tried to have a steady job as a kapellmeister in the service of a rich patron. So when in his last two years his music began to fall out of favor with the public, his income dwindled that fast that he could only be buried in a paupers' mass grave at his death (main thing why we still don't know where his remains are).
How good was this song? Every station, every club, everywhere you went, they played it. It was a favorite by any music loving group, whether you enjoyed disco, new wave, rock or anything in between, everyone just danced and enjoyed Falco. We loved it on the MTV as video and the music, the sound in any language we heard it in. So good, so uplifting and so catchy. Great sound is timeless and ageless.
not random. it's your memory getting exercise by showing off how loud and clear and flawless it is, and there's a LOT of stuff there you hardly ever listen to.
My mom used to blast this in the truck when she'd pick me up from school, 11 year old me was terribly embarrassed. 20 year old me admires my mom for the dedication.
I'm probably just about the same age as your mom. This song was a MONSTER jam back in the day. One of the first to draw upon elements of rock, pop, and rap... and all as an ode to classical! It made people who would never normally get along with each other feel like they were all in unity, just for a minute. Seriously, everyone loved it. It.was.everything.
Falco - a phenomenon singer! Too little recognition and media coverage in pop culture. He deserved much, much more! Great respect, master! Rest in peace!
I truly believe Falco was an unappreciated genius and some whose genius kept escalating with each creation. He managed to find video directors who captured visually what he had in mind, especially with this video and the one for The Sound of Musik (which is banned by YT but can be seen on Vimeo). Such a tragic death. I hope it was quick for him. It is a pity we do not have Falco with us now.
@Jorge L De Jesus - It wasn't CDs back then sony, we had something called a record and it was made out of this kinda plastic called vinyl and you had to flip it if you wanted hear the music on the other side. There was a giant huge box that you had to play the record on. We were drinking and dancing all the time. Shooie we had some great times.
@@CelticSaint yes... Falco was a very troubled person; he regularly tried to escape from alcohol and drugs but only managed to escape at times; he was in exile in the Dominican Republic, but still in great personal difficulty; he killed himself when he left a car park in a blind spot, literally hitting into a very speeding bus. He was under the influence of alcohol and drugs. His friend, the former racing driver Niki Lauda, had his body flown back to Vienna with one of his airline planes. His grave is the most visited in Vienna's central cemetery.

Man kann nicht vergessen was mein seit ner stunde kennt
Falco ist unsterblich
Darum kann man sich streiten würd ich sagen
He was a punk and lived in the big city
It was in Vienna, in Vienna, where he did everything
He had debts because he drank, but women all loved him anyway
And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!"
He was a superstar, he was popular
He was exalted, because he had flair
He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol
And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!"
[Hook]
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
Come and rock me Amadeus!
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
[Part 2]
It was around 1780 and it was in Vienna
No plastic money any more, the banks were against him
Everyone knew where the debts came from
He was a ladies' man, women loved his punk
He was a superstar, he was popular
He was too exalted, and that was his flair
He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol
And everybody's still screaming: "Come and rock me Amadeus!"

2024 ! Falco the Genius of Hip Hop!!!
This song is proof that the only "language" that truly matters, and that everyone understands, is great fucking music!
Unfortunately, that's not true. Not everyone understands music.
Indeed!
@@richardsantanna5398 fair point, but at least it shows that sometimes the language of music can transcend other languages.
Math begs to differ...
Or just great music.
Es ist irgendwie ironisch wie er über Amadeus hier singt, er war ein Superstar und Idol ein musikalisches Genie und doch war sein Leben tragisch und ist jung von uns gegangen. Beide Mozart und Falco.
During his life Mozart was not so popular. (Sorry for writing in english, I understand german but unfortunately I can't write ^^')
Ich liebe Mozart omg

I'm probably just about the same age as your mom. This song was a MONSTER jam back in the day. One of the first to draw upon elements of rock, pop, and rap... and all as an ode to classical! It made people who would never normally get along with each other feel like they were all in unity, just for a minute. Seriously, everyone loved it. It.was.everything.

And yet you lie, for what reason?

@@tylertheguy3160 Oh wow that's so sad to hear!
