im thinking Trina is in the Haligtree. And Im pretty sure Miquella is trying to recreate what his mother did to become a god. I think Miquella is supposed to mirror Marika and we will find the age Marika came from had its own issues. after the dlc i expect we will still be debating if he was being selfish or not.
I'm really excited to share this. I'm excited to watch your trailer analysis next too! Thanks also for your absolute wealth of lore videos. I'm finally lifting my personal embargo on watching Elden Ring lore and I've been watching the long-form videos while drawing lately. I love them.
What surprises me the most is that with Fromsoft we should never take things for granted 😁 Before the first gameplay trailer, the introduction of Messmer and the Land of Shadow.. i was 100% sure the dlc was gonna be centered around Godwyn.. that black rotted erdtree we saw in the first teaser image looked like the one raising from his corpse too. Now, after both the gameplay trailer and this last story trailer he is not even mentioned or seen once, instead we got new characters and almost a completely new plot.. except for Miquella who is still as enigmatic as ever. In this trailer the narrator is most likely that blonde woman knight who kneels in front of Miquella's rune, she says Miquella abandoned everything.. " his golden flesh, his blinding strenght ", so.. if we really will have to fight him.. could it be what is left of him? The "things" he abandoned born as a new entity? Could St. Trina instead of Miquella's alter ego be this? So many questions While i see all the similiarities with Griffith, i still want to believe that Miquella is indeed kind and benevolent, even tho the Bewitching Branch description and the Castle Sol eclipse stuff are SUS AF You know we are both into Yu-gi-oh, and Miquella's cocoon got me thinking back to when the pharaoh uses the 3 god cards to travel to the world of memories, it was not a real time travel to the past, the events that happened 5000 years ago still remained valid, it was the final shadow game set up by Bakura/Zork.. ( at least this is what i came to think by watching the anime, i still need to read the manga but still ) so could we do a similar thing? Like, to access the dlc we are going to touch the withered arm from the cocoon, is the corpse inside still alive? Dreaming? Do we enter the dream? Like the Hunter's Nightmare? Miyazaki said "The DLC will use a separate leveling system borrowed from Sekiro" In an interview with Famitsu, but that got me puzzled, are our levels and builds even gonna matter? Maybe since it's a dream, our character is gonna dream too so they are gonna start anew in the world of shadow? And ultimately, are our actions ever gonna change the state of that cocoon? if from it is gonna emerge another orphan of kos-like being and we will have to fight it, will it be "the things that Miquella abandoned"? Or maybe corrupted by Mohg's influence? Soo many questions Coming back to Godwyn i bet he is indeed in the dlc, Messmer while bein the "poster boy" i got a feeling won't actually be the final boss but we shall see There is also another thing... this might sound stupid but... if you preordered the base game 2 years ago you get " The Ring " gesture, where our character creates a circle/ring with his arms at the top of his head, now with this dlc if we preorder we are gonna get "Miquella's ring", like you said in the video, same thing as before but this time the ring is on the right side of our body instead of the top. Is this like a pattern? And if so, isn't one missing? A third gesture similar to Miquella's ring but on the opposite side on the left? If one would put all these 3 gesture TOGETHA they would resemble the Elden Ring logo with the circles I know Miyazaki said this is going to be the first and last ER DLC but what if...? Could Godwyn really be absent here and saved for later in a third dlc? Even Dark Souls got multiple dlcs instead of one Still, ER and Shadow of the Erdtree are massive compared to past games so maybe not In "The Books of Knowledge" volume 2 of Elden Ring that came out last year, when talking about the roundtable hold Miyazaki says it's a place outside of time and space but connected to the erdtree, that's why when the erdtree burns the roundtable burns aswell, however when asked as to WHY the roundtable exists Miyazaki replied that it is something they decided not to touch in THIS game, but that the two fingers plays a key role in it. Was this a hint to new roundtable lore in the dlc? ...or future installments like Elden Ring 2? Wall of text aside, amazing work Michela!! almost 17 minutes of video but it passed like a breeze, again so many questions but the wait is almost over!
This is such an insightful comment! The story trailer raised as many questions as it answered. I'm fascinated as to the idea of the DLC expanding on Godwyn, but now it seems clear it's going to be about exploring the Realm of Shadows, learning more about Mesmer, and finally solving more of the puzzle that is Miquella (hopefully.) The Roundtable Hold is still a concept I don't fully understand (even though your description helps) but it would be interesting to see Shadow of the Erdtree expand upon it further.
Time to enjoy this once as it’s putting me to sleep (it’s 3 am here) and then again properly with the morning coffee. Thank you for sharing your hard work and thoughts with us Michela!
I believe Miquella set a lot of things in motion to get to the Shadowlands. He has Melania and Mohg guarding two parts of himself in order to prevent anyone from following him. I believe that both of them are being controlled by him due to the charming powers he has. After all, why fight your enemy when you can just convince them to do what they want? I also believe he's the most similar to his mother Marika, considering how many people she's decieved and conquered.
That's an interesting take. However, I wouldn't say he'd choose to have someone like Mohg "protecting" him, especially since I have a feeling that he'd be aware of how Mohg was in general. It's no secret that he was vying for power himself. I get the sense that Malenia wasn't loyal to him for his charm but instead because of the special bond they had. Mohg was charmed to the point of obsession. He stole Miquella's egg while he was still in a pupa state and unresponsive, which, again, is something nobody would choose. I suppose we'll see when the DLC comes out.
I believe it was smoughtown or square table gaming that first mentioned this in their trailer coverage but the soldiers for the unseen war are all masked more like it's an execution. There's no honor no glory no Fame to be gained from this war because it is just a slaughter of Innocents. I get that vibe when I hear a war that couldn't be put to song, there's no glorious tale to sing just misery and blasphemy.
Some how I don't think Miquella would care about pronouns lol Great vid, thank you for your thoughts! You mentioned you're still in your first play through... welcome to the asylum XD
Wow thanks for the clarification that you call them he/they and she/they! Not really! Completely unnecessary and there literally no point in pointing it out. Idc of you call them he or she. You only pointed it out to get internet brownie points from the weirdos who actually care about that stuff
The question is: Are you okay? Miquella and St. Trina are the same. No one knows St. Trina's gender, and argue in game that St. Trina is a boy or a girl. This isn't a stretch considering Radagon and Marika are the same person.
@@dadevi I added in the section to reduce confusion. I'm confident Miquella and St. Trina are the same, but they present as a different genders so I wanted to be cognizant of that so that people understood what I was talking about. People are, predictably, being very normal about it.

I'll go further. I think most Tarnished and Demigods are being controlled by Miquella in some fashion, as well as others. Ensha, for example.
