Personally I would rather use Tool Specialist 5. I think Divine Blessing is worthless because of the RNG proc. I could also just have terrible luck...
But I have beaten Fatalis Solo with multiple weapons, Charge Blade beeing the only guard capable of them, and never needed any Devine Blessing. I would still never consider me a speedrunner or top tier. You can go watch the two speedrunns I made here on YT and tell me if I am that good or if I am mediocor at best. I would be very interested in what other people think about my Skill level since I have a hard time determining where my Skill is. I think I am not that good and I also think that Divine Blessing isn't necessary. I would go as far as to say its worthless.
      Happy Hunting!

Yes, making your own armor and skills is such a nice thing to experience especially in MH, I don't think other games gives you that kinda feeling. You're definitely doing pretty good. Hunting the same monster with different sets will give you an idea of what gives you a better edge in the hunt. But don't forget the armor skills will depend on your type of playstyle, speedrunners go all offensive compared to regular hunters who pick the passive skills that works best for them and their weapons. Best of luck and thanks for all these fun journals so far

I'd strongly recommend against playing through any monster hunter game, but especially world due to how decoration grinding works, just to learn a new weapon. Seems like a solid plan. If your goal is to beat each monster with a greatsword, say, then once you've beaten Anjanath once, you can use any Anja armour and greatswords you have available (even if that entails using a Ruiner Nergigante Switch Axe to grind out parts easier)

If you want to get more decorations it's easiest to use the steamworks in seliana during a festival. set it to 10x output and farm silver melding tickets. you can get the fuel for that either via mindless guiding lands farm of mining outcrops or the special zinogre event quest.

Advice on elemental resistance: eating elemental resistance as your pre hunt meal adds a BIG chunk of elemental resistance to your totals. If you want to avoid blights, that's your ticket.
Edit: also against AT velkhana, I heavily advise use of the iceproof mantle. It not only negates the blights but the ice resistance it provides cuts a hefty chunk of damage off the most dangerous attacks.

I'm glad you found out about Elderseal for this fight. This is not really explained properly in the game, especially for this fight.
Arch Tempered Velkhana is unique in that her Ice Armor increases her defense by a large amount. The more armor she has and the bluer the screen, the higher her defense.
This is what elderseal is used for, and breaks her out of this armored state more quickly. This is why it shaves off so much time since you are massively increasing the window of her unarmored state.
Without Elderseal, this hunt becomes incredibly difficult due to the time constraint. I'm glad you found this out beforehand, it should save you headaches later on!

Haven’t gone back to Velkhana in a while, but doesn’t her ice armor broke off once you shave 2 or 3 parts off. Elderseal speed that up sure, but I remember it kicked in at a really bad time, like when I’m just about to shave off 2/3 ice parts. Never knew about the damage resistance part of AT Velk though.

Divine Blessing and Health Boost are meta defensive skills btw so ignore anyone saying not to use them. I would however advise against using Defense Boost since even with seven points of it it gives less defense that one point of Health Boost and thus isn't worth the investment.

My tip for AT Velk is put your aggression in your punishments. When your punishment window is done, be defensive while positioning yourself with the next punish opportunity in mind.
Save your crystal boulders for when after she limps back to the first area since she's most aggressive when near death.

AT Velkhana has been released after Fatalis and was balanced around Fatalis equipment (without spoiling, it is very powerful). Even with it, she is a challenge (meme videos were mocking players who thought she was going to be a walk in the park with Fatalis equipment, only to be destroyed by her). Fighting her without Fatalis equipment is going to be more challenging than Fatalis himself and the clock is going to be your greatest enemy. But beating her will be your greatest victory in the game.

9:46 that's what i did at the time: didn't have any fatalis gear(maybe a couple of armor pieces, but nothing in a usable state). So i used the Nergigante SNS, and that's how i killed AT Velk.
As you said the stats on Nergi weapons are more than decent( i think they're actually much better than any Alatreon weapon). That HUGE white sharpness is gonna help you a lot, since you don't run master's touch, and more importantly it has a power phial that's much more useful than the element one on the Alatreon SwAxe.

Definitely agree that building a set is one of the best parts of monster hunter. I especially enjoy it in Rise, where it's so easy to grind monsters for mats that you can make some really fun and experimental builds. It really gets you super ingrained in the mechanics of monster hunter and finding your favorite way to play. It's definitely less of the case in world as decos can be a grind to get, whereas in Rise you just forge the ones you want. On the flip side though, you're incentivized to optimize in world a lot more than Rise due to Iceborne existing. Waiting for that expansion with Rise.

About the divine blessing use, it's easy: if it's in the game is intended to be used. There's this "hate" to defensive skills due to the older games, where usually on an end game set you get to put together only a handful of skills; so going full dps and killing the monster the fastest is the safest start once you learn the hunt. However, in world there's much more room for skills and it's actually a good choice to slot in divine blessing (the meta isn't always the answer!)

Tip:if you break 3 parts of its ice armor(you can break the head, wings, body and forearms) you get a massive opening for damage. Also if you drop the 2 crystals in the area you will break the ice armor of the wings which makes it noticeably easier to get that massive knockdown

Meat Lover was not a great skill, but i just loved the vibe of killing a dinosaur and eating it raw. Gonna have to be THAT guy here and say that elder seal for AT velk is a BAD idea. Raging brachs weapons are head and shoulders above the pre fatalis completion, and while the first elder seal proc comes easy enough, the second is so ridiculously high in requirement you might as well not even bother, the great damage of a raging brach weapon will more easily allow you to break ice armor and get a topple.

Really good to see how much you have grown as a hunter. That build you made is pretty good for what you have. Don't let the haters deter you from divine blessing. It is a valid skill. Even MR999s use it against fatalis. Can't wait to see your fatty clear. Congrats man.

AT Velkhana is so much fun! I used Evade Gunlancing! So satisfying to dodge the ice pillar!

    • @painsenpai01
      @painsenpai01 3 роки тому +1

Evade Lancing is old school right? I remember hearing about it when I decided to learn GL and accidentally stumbled across that build/playstyle, which led me to better understand evading Brute Tigrex's roar and eventually getting CB slays against Brute Grex

@@painsenpai01 I know it’s amazing! But in rise theres a slight delay with your hunter. In world after doing a forward thrust when you back hop. It hops right away after the action. In rise for some reason after the forward thrust. There’s a delay before it jumps backwards.

And it would be so cool if you re-fought some monsters with a new weapon! One of the greatest things about MonHun is it can feel like an entirely different game depending on what you use. From helicoptering through the air on the Glaive … to standing steadfast and immovable with the Lance … to dodging and slicing your way past enemy guard with the Sword and Shield … to unloading a entire magazine of fullauto bullets with a Wyvernheart Bowgun.
As an SnS main I’m biased and would recommend you play that. But it would be great to see you play whatever calls to you!
(If you pick Long Sword a good portion of the MH community might mock you and call you a Weeb, but be assured we’re just jealous and cranky that LS is pretty much one of the highest damage, most popular among players, and seems to get most consideration from Capcom)

Use divine blessing if you want. MonsterHunter lets you build the playstyle that works for you. Don't let negative nancies bring you down! Real hunters support you.

I do recommend going after fatalis first before AT velkhana. Its so nice to get that end game armor then pit it against AT velkhana rather than getting fatty armor but having defeated already all the monsters so there's really no other big target/goal to test out the best armor in the game.

Never feel bad about using Divine Blessing. Most people saying "omegalul carried by divine blessing" probably never take their temporal mantles from any of their builds anyways.

Making sets. Adjust decorations. Getting every skills you need to take down your target no matter what people try to back seat you. That's the charms of Monster Hunter.
I see your set and that's good enough. The only thing left is to study the monster pattern. I know you can do it Jay. I wish you luck.

Don't listen to the chat bro do what makes u comfortable, it'll be way easier and better if u follow your way. No hunter is the same and u shouldn't be like anyone else. And I was just about to tell you about the Elder seal 😆 I'm happy that you're doing your own research but yeah it gives raw dragon damage when you go into your discharge so see if you could do that often, and stay to the right of Velkana (your right). Carry Ice proof and Evasion Mantle it eases the fight up alot. But I enjoy your resolve tho ngl you're not giving up 😆 that's the will of fire 🔥 right there 🙌💯 and you're officially a Switch Axe main.

This is your playthrough and I don't want to pressure you or anything but, AT Velkhana is usually played after Fatty because of a reason. She's the closure of Iceborne, the flagship that sends you away from the new world and testing whether you've conquered Iceborne or not, just like how AT Nerg kicked my ass back then. Sure Fatty is the final boss of the world of MH but AT Velkhana is like a personal send-off letter to you from Iceborne, and when her final ice breaks, you'll realize that winter has truly slept. Just my thoughts tho, I'm in no place to judge. Good luck on the last 2!

A quicker way to get good with a new weapon is doing the Greatest Jagras hunt till you're confident with any kind of rank weapon (doesnt matter if high/master rank).
Build up confidence then move on to high rank sos. And continue from there to master rank sos.
Learned greatsword in the space of 2 weeks just doing that.

Before reaching MR100, you can augment weapons and armor that are not rarity 12. You can definitely face fatalis and at velk.
So you cant augment some armor like elder dragon armor until mr100, but a lot of other armor in the game can be augmented for defense. You can even augment the frostfang barioth LS.
🙏 Not everything is behind mr100

I personally really enjoy starting a fresh save file. I understand why most people are hazarding you against it but when i restart I find there's less pressure to grind to get to the end so you can just play it and enjoy it. You may still need to grind but for me there's no rush to do so.

I play about 7-8 of the weapons and I pick my weapon based on what I think is easiest/fastest to take down my mark. Gotta say though the safest strat will always be Hit and Run Greatsword. Gets even better when you get that sweet frostcraft. I beat Alatreon with the Giant Frozen Tuna GS.

I cheat by farming fatalis part and made his armor without even finishing fatalis. The first fight had extra cart allowed so I always leave when I host it after I get the eye so I can farm that quest.
It is really a nice armor with all the huge number of slot given.
