as bhuvan said, and i JUST learned this myself a few days ago after almost 4yrs of ownership of my 2016 v60 Rdesign....I was always launching like you show but the best way is to shift to 2nd gear, hold brake, mash gas and the rev's increase a lot, creating more boost then release gas and I swear my head hurt the first time as I just wasn't expecting it. Oh and I didn't even turn off ECS either. I'll have to try it with it off and see how it is.
Thanks for the video! Are you supposed to floor the accelerator and the car automatically settles to around 2K rpm or do you just hold it at 2K yourself? I felt like when I tried it, it wouldn't let me go over 2K before launching. Maybe a safeguard for the trans?
So there's 2 ways to do it, but my time at the drag strip showed that they're about the same. 1) first gear in sport with paddles, engage launch control, RPMs climb to 2k, dump it and go. 2) Same thing, but in 2nd gear and the RPMs are closer to 3k.
I have to try with my D5. I assume that twin turbo diesel would like it even better to have bigger gear at start to use all the torque. 5.9 is my current fastest time from 0-100.

You can actually increase the gearbox life by launching the car in 2nd gear in these tf80sc gen 3 boxes.
Will it work with my S80 V8? Kinda scared to brake boost it after seeing videos of BMWs differential popping after trying to burnout
I launch in second gear as well seems to launch better anyway

It feels like S is jusy manual and only shifts when you exceed the rev limit. Wouldnt D be faster ?
