Doctor told me that the guidelines are 3 hydrocortisone injections and if its not fixed, they might consider surgical removal of the nodule. First jab was excruciating and did nothing, i wasnt going back for a second. I have put up with this for 13 or 14 yrs, so thanks🙏

My bump is almost gone just doing what you said to do ...just watching this twice in a row !!! This bump in my hand was new....but it was a bump with irritated inflamed hand tendons. Went to my Dr today about this bump and he said to just leave it alone. Thank you Very much !!! Both my parents had this and i was told it was hereditary.... I believed there was something I could do. I found your video and it has made a big improvement in my hand !!! Just doing this twice. I owned a balloon shop for 14 years ( Tied a billion balloons ) and then was a buffet server for 22 years after that ( In Las Vegas at a VERY busy buffet and served drinks and bused all my tables. Your video it the answer to my prayers and knowing their was a natural cure. Thank you from the bottom of my heart !!!

Just a word of caution - I have a nodule in the center of my palm below the ring finger and tried these and other exercises offered by this physio, and they made the nodule significantly worse. It's larger and actually painful now, where there had been no pain previously. As a rock climber, this is a huge bummer.
Probably best to get your specific case checked out before you start messing with an undiagnosed nodule!

    • @rosecrelliviolin

Hi! I actually saw a hand specialist and he said to just ignore it and it will go away eventually! It actually disappeared within days of him saying that. I feel like it was all in my head and I kind of stressed about it so much that it was more mental than anything. Once he told me it was fine and not to worry about it, the nodule literally disappeared and went away.

Perfect. Thank you. I’m a climber with a weeks old drywall slinging injury, middle finger below the A1. Basically we were flipping drywall overhead one side of the room to the other and my partner dropped his end two feet up from the floor. The climber in me grabbed at my high edge automatically, shock loading my tips to palm pinch, which led to some aggravation. I’ve rested since, and performing the palpation exercise and fingers to the wall exercise described, provided instant targeted relief to my pulley. It was so immediately profound that I believe these exercises will reduce and eliminate my palm pain problem.

Sounds very similar to a mild case of Celtic Hand, technically called Dupuytren's Contracture. If it is Celtic Hand, the nodules will eventually over the course of years form a chain down one or two fingers and pull them into a contraction (meaning you can no longer straighten the fingers all the way)

    • @ctboone1
      @ctboone1 Рік тому +6

@@Casmige Dupuytren's Contracture is a totally different condition than Trigger Finger. Unfortunately, Dupuytren's is more like a disease process than an injury, it worsens over time, and has no actual cure. It can progress to the point where the affected fingers are permanently bent and can't be straightened.
Trigger finger starts with the fingers while Dupuytren’s contracture stems from the palm.
Dupuytren’s contracture involves the tissue, but trigger finger involves the tendons.
Trigger finger is most common in the thumb, index finger, and middle finger. Dupuytren’s contracture is most likely to occur in the fourth finger and the pinky.
Someone who has trigger finger can straighten the finger if they tried, but someone with Dupuytren’s contracture cannot.
Whereas trigger finger is usually the result of an injury, the causes of Dupuytren’s contracture are not clear.

I crochet a lot and I recently learned a new way to hold the yarn while I work. I could feel the strain between index and middle fingers. I also pull a heavy cart home and up 2 flights of stairs, from the grocery store on occasions. I think that the crochet is the culprit, because I can sit for hours at a time. I took up knitting and holding the yarn to knit is very different. My thumbs also are weak and hurt if bumped against. Yes, I noticed the bump in the palm of my hand about an inch or so below the middle finger.. I'll try the exercises that you recommend, because I really don't want a cut happy doctor trying to open up anything to see what's there. I'm old, the joints don't work so well anymore. I'l also have to do more walking, I used to do that a lot, no choice, I don't drive. Retirement is good, but I sit too long crocheting, now learning to knit better.

Thank you. MX accident impacted my right ring finger and it turned black and blue for a couple weeks, thought it healed and then a lump showed up months later on my palm inch below first joint on ring finger. I guess something tore and then as you said healing built it up too much and now a lump. Been heating and rubbing and now doing your exercises and stretches. Wife said try ultrasound, she's a PT, will try. I used my electric tooth brush (back side) to massage it too, kinda works as it pin points the vibrations pretty well. Thanks again.

    I can't believe I found this video.
Adam Ondra will like to know you, if he doesn't already....
This upload is spot on, and i've had my condition in my ringfinger tendon, in my hand, (proper) spread to numbness in the exact nerves from the neck down to there.
My nodule is about 3/8 inch around, and looks like a blister.
It doesn't hurt except occasionally that whole part of my left hand will have pain like arthritis or something, but it's only rarely, and doesn't last but ten minutes tops.
It doesn't really bother me, but the numbness in my left forearm does sometimes, your video stretch just trying it for the first time has instantly helped with that damn numbness problem.
I always thought it was a bone spur or something, but it's definitely a tendon thing, because the exact same spot on my right hand has a stringy tight tendon that could maybe be heading for similar problems.
Obviously, you're diagnosis and therapy has nailed my problem perfectly.
I'm definitely dealing with a neck injury that has haunted me with other annoyances before.
Chiropractors scare me so i'm gonna use your simple therapy instead... i bet it's gonna work.
    You rock.... Thank you.

Hi I used a needle to stimulate a bump that I had in the terminal extensor tendon.
Prior to doing this my finger would hurt if put my into my pocket for anything. It would send a nerve pain and hurt for a while.
I poked around the bump and performed stretches only one time and the area Shrank in size tremendously. No more pain when retrieving things from my pocket.
I will certainly try this technique again to make it even more smaller.

This has to be my problem. I've got 3 of these on my left palm. Not painful just annoying. I have a semi-annual Dr appt(I'm a geezer) in 3 weeks and had planned to show him but I'm reluctant to do so as he's fast to pull the trigger on sending me to a specialist of some kind. May try these exercises for a while first. The only thing I can think of is I have been playing golf for over 50 years and the left hand is the one used for the most leverage on the club....for a right handed golfer.

It sounds like dupuytren’s contracture. Surgery can remove the material that’s covering your tendon.

I opened a cap stuck on a bottle, then went for a 200 mile motorcycle ride. Lots of clutch use. When I got home I noticed a bee bee size painful lump palm of hand about an inch below my ring finger under the skin, which looks normal. It’s been three days no change in size becomes painful with use. I will give theses exercises a try. Thank you

Hi, thank you so much for this video I’ve been searching for ways to read myself of scar tissue in the palm of my hand I had to been a contracture surgery which is compound it with a fall I had to close nerve damage in my neck down to my elbow down to my hands I’m not having great success with PT or removal of the scar tissue. I’m not getting much stretching my fingers also they’re going to release me in a few weeks so I’m glad I found your videos I’m not really convinced I have doing a contracture because there’s no history in my family whatsoever but my hand was closed because of an injury fall and it was like that for two years and I did perform fibers in my tendons and they right away so it was given a contracture right now I have a lot of scar tissue and I’m trying to break it up myself so thank you so much

    • @charliemerrill
      @charliemerrill  4 роки тому

Nice yes do what you can before having surgery. Working on the neck and shoulder is critical. And trauma and/or dysfunction to the neck and shoulder will create nervous system sensitivity resulting in problems in the hand. So take care of your neck and shoulders and I think you'll minimize the hand issues. Use the medical system to slow the progress too.

Ive a lump at A1 (palm just below finger) that Ive had for years, used to climb a lot and remember injuring it. It feels a little tight and tender and I always thought it was solid, after trying the 'pin and pinch' its made a noticeable difference, seems to have flattened and softened somewhat, which I can barley believe lol. Gonna keep that one up and see how goes.

I’m curious if you are still monitoring comments on this video? It looks like good info, but I’m wondering if the exercises can aggregate the nodules and make it worse. I’m a CrossFitter just turned 48. I have nodules in both pinkies. No contraction and I’ve probably had the one in my left hand for at least a decade, but it has gotten a little bigger. They follow the lines of calluses on my hands. I’m curious if anyone else has had long term success following the techniques. The mainstream view seems to be leave it alone, use needle therapy, or surgery.

I had surgery on my right index finger after an injury and the incision was all the way down to my knuckle in my hand (on the palm side). This area seems to have created a scar that has a sharp edge both inside and on the outside and it's like a knife edge digging into me anytime it's pressed on. I went to physical therapy on Tuesday and the woman took some sort of hard plastic thing and dug it into my hand and then told me that pressing something hard into it was the only way to break up scar tissue. They have always just used their hand to massage in the past. This new aggressive approach caused excruciating pain to the point of almost passing out and I'm thinking it might be counter productive and causing more inflammation, thus making my finger even stiffer and more swollen. I can't go through that again, so have been looking for other techniques that are not so extreme. I did try your first technique of closing the finger and pressing on that base area and it seems to increase me range of motion almost immediately.

Be careful with the splinting. Also why are you wearing a splint for the nodule? I'm not sure what kind of splint you are using. But, you can also make you thumb to stiff if you wear it too much.

Yes indeed. Tissue will adapt based on the stresses were exposing them to/not exposing them to. If you give input you want them to go away. they will often go away.

Dupuytren’s contracture is actually fairly common and somewhat treatable. Mobility work, fascial release, and manual therapy to the cervical spine/shoulder including postural changes along with behavior modification (work or other habitual triggers) are a good start to slow progression. It’s not a scary problem and there are more medical options emerging all the time. The techniques I outline in this video are helpful prevention against the progression of Dupuytren’s as part of a fascial release protocol. But if you start feeling thickness and multiple nodules through your palm, consult your doctor and therapist. Treat it early and aggressively.
