In a bizarre Congressional hearing with our Sec. Of Defense, Austin and Joint Chief, General Milley, Matt Gaetz ask as a bizarre question. "How should the DOD think about Critical Race theory"? The highly respected General Milley's and Austin's response was perfect, and coming from a completely apolitical view, perhaps his comment will best help you understand the genuine essence of CRT. After Gaets shuts down Milly from responding, Austin replies: "I do not know what the issue of CRT is, or the relevance of it here with the DOD, but we do not teach CRT, we don't embrace CRT, and I think it is a spurious(not being what purports to be; false or fake; seemingly but not actually valid) conversation".
The next congresswoman on the committee yields he time to General Milley, to allow him to respond. Milley says, "First of all, on the issue of CRT, I think everyone needs to get much smarter in regards to what the theory actually is. That being said, I do think it is important actually, for those of us in uniform to be open minded and be widely read, and the United States Military Academy is a University, and it IS IMPORTANT that we train and that we understand.....and I, I want to understand 'white rage', and I'm white, it is essential I understand so I can speak to.....what is it that caused thousands of people to assault this building and try to overturn the Constitution of the United States of America. What caused that? I want to find that out. I want to maintain an open mind here, and I do want to analyze it."
I (me) want to interject here and state, CRT is exactly the means by which one would analyze the attack on the Capitol, and try to determine it's causes. It is a discussion, an applied analysis, not a course (class), or a teachable subject like, for example, an actual BANNED class in your state, like AFRICAN AMERICAN STUDIES.
Back to Milleys startement: "It is important that we understand that because our soldiers, sailors, etc.....they come from the American people (our citizens), so it IS IMPORTANT that the leaders now and in the future DO UNDERSTAND IT. I have read Mao Tse Tung, I have read Karl Marx, I have read Lennin. That doesn't make me a Communist. So what is wrong with understanding, having some situational understanding about the Country (and everyone in it) of which we are here to defend? And I personally find it offensive that you are accusing The United States Military, pur general officers, our commissioned and non-commissioned officers of being "WOKE" or something else because WE are studying some theories that are out there. That (CRT) was started at Harvard University of Law years ago, and it proposed that there were laws in the United States, Antebellum Laws prior to the Civil War that lead to a power differential where African Americans were considered to be just 3/4 of a human being, when this Country was formed, and that we have a Civil War and an Emancipation Proclamation to change it, and we brought it up in the Civil Rights act in 1964, a hundred years later to change that. So look, I DO WANT TO KNOW. I respect your (Gaetz) service. You and I were both Green Berets. But I want to know, and it matters to our Military and the disciplinic cohesion of our Military.
