"And that concludes our tour," are the saddest words.
Absolutely! I agree!
Yes!!! i agree
💯!
Several years ago, I was a lot like Arthur Dark in that I toured cemeteries throughout the country, marveling at the famous grave sites I could find. I still believe I am the only Heisman Trophy voter who has visited the grave site of trophy namesake John W. Heisman, who is buried in an obscure cemetery in northeast Wisconsin. Five years ago, however, my wife died very suddenly and I lost any interest in touring cemeteries. Only when I discovered the Hollywood Graveyard series did I come to grips with my grief and begin to renew my appreciation for how we honor those who have gone before. Thank you, Arthur, for restoring my interest in these great places of remembrance.
I'm sorry for your loss, Mark. Heisman is buried in Rhinelander, WI, in city-owned, Forest Home Cemetery, which was his second wife's hometown. If you ever get a chance to get to New Orleans, the above-ground cemeteries are so interesting. Lots of large ornate mausoleums - just do not go at night! Sketchy area.
sorry for your loss live a good life
@@lauraguida8482 I have been to New Orleans many times and the only thing better than a guided nighttime tour of the cemeteries there is a midnight beignet at Cafe du Monde.
@@BudTCat I am sorry you lost your wife. You sound terrific. All the best to you. And yes, the beignets at Cafe du Monde are the best!
God Bless Mark
Favorite part of this channel is hearing how they have past away so ur not left wondering
A lot had depression and drinking issues,
@@Tatortot318 A lot died from heart attacks or heart related problems! I am referring to other videos included!
Sometimes they dont say how they died an it leaves you hangin...i understand what you mean.
Does anyone else find Arthur's voice soothing? So relaxed just to listen.
Absolutely, as smooth as silk, he should be a counsellor or voice actor himself
Yes 👍
Yesssss I Do!!! I loooove his voice.👍❤
me too
I could go into that cemetery and not leave until I have read every headstone.
I used to go to greenwood cemetery in high school during my lunch period to eat my lunch there ❤️
@@LeakenaDoll Definitely looks like the perfect place for that!
Amazing tour! Thank you so much!
Ya I would like to know who they were and what their lives were like, how they died ect. I like to think that when we die and go to heaven(hopefully 😁) we can meet all sorts of people from different walks of life.
Victor was a great actor. I did not realize he was only 42 when he past. These mausoleums are huge.
He was in Batman 🦇 and Alice
My husband and I have watched all of these videos and we are in agreement that you have the best voice for this kind of genre. Keep these videos coming so good
Probably the most watchable channel on U Tube.
Agreed! I get so pumped when I’m notified of a new episode!! 💙💙
@@mrs.bendover8613 It's great, isn't it? The subject might seem to be somewhat morbid, but what you're actually getting is a magnificent panorama of American film, music and TV history in the 20th century.
paul wilson definitely !! It’s so intriguing learning about these wonderful people back in the day
Me too Angela!!
You can take the word probably out of your statement. My wife and I watched all their "His" videos and can't wait for more.
I have a addiction and it's Hollywood Graveyard. Don't care how tired, busy or whatever else may be going on I stop to watch the video. This is another well made video and featured many I never heard of. Can't think of a better way to be introduced to past Hollywood celebrities than with these videos. Victor Bruno is one of the star's/actor's I remember best. His time on the Batman TV show as Long Tut was memorable. Again a fine job Mr. Dark.
You definitely nailed it. Just found this channel. I’m supposed to be leaving town and have much to do still, yet here I sit watching HG! Be well.
You absolutely do the best tours of cemeteries adding the little movies and pictures is just perfect keep up the good work I really liked Victor Bono especially in the wild wild West
I did not know anyone on this one, but still interesting! Am i the only one that looks up more information while watching the video?
I do the same thing too.😀
Me too!
I do that too
Me too.
No your not alone 💕
So so so much respect to the people who made Raymond Thornton Chandlers last wishes possible. Now he can lay to rest with his Cissy!! Thank you!!❤️
Totally bought some Amelita Galli-Curci music online tonight. Thanks Arthur! Been missing my Mom and listening to Mario Lanza, she loved him. Looking forward to Amelita's music arriving. :)
Absolutely love this channel for 2 reasons
1 Satifies my death curiosity
2 I get a history lesson on all these famous people way before my time
Keep em coming Mr Dark!
If you want another channel to satisfy your death curiosity, check out Ask A Mortician with Caitlin Doughty. 🙂
I've watched her videos before. Prefer watching Kari Northey. Thanks for the recommendation though
I'm a senior citizen by several years and the only person here I recognized was Victor Buono, I think only because I'd seen him in the TV show of Batman, in the 60's. I admire the creator and producers of this for the amount of research etc for all these people.
Victor Buono also played Charlotte's father in Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte. Always liked his acting. He died so young.
Verrw
My little brother is laid to rest close to him.
He played her assistant...
Sorry I'm wrong
In the movie Whatever Happened to Baby Jane..
I have been a fan of Arthur Dark and Hollywood Graveyard for years! Having him visit Greenwood Cemetery where my little brother is laid to rest and where I will be Someday also was pretty cool. I know he only deals with celebrities but there are San Diego historical figures who are laid the rest are as well.
I tend to be the only one in mausoleums and cemeteries quite a bit. I don't mind though as it is very peaceful. The mausoleums out there are absolutely beautiful with all the art and architecture. Greenwood really was like a magical wonderland. I enjoyed the stories of yesteryear and thank you for taking us along.
Arthur, I have to say that you have one of the most pleasant voices I've heard commentating on UA-cam. The research you do is amazing and you truly bring back Old Hollywood to a new generation. Keep up the great work!
The person who has the most confident and calming of voices, is more certain and comfortable in the knowledge of who they are not, rather than simply who they are.
MY Husband died in 1994
I went to work for the cemtrie sold the prperty!
!
WELL MR DARK , I JUST HAVE TO SAY , I COULD LISTEN TO YOUR VOICE ALL DAY,,,SOME OF THESE LONG FORGOTTEN STARS ,YOU HAVE IMMORTALIZED THEM FOREVER ,,MOST BEAUTIFUL ARE THESE FINAL RESTING PLACES ,,,SUCH OPULENCE IN THE MAUSOLEUMS ,THANK YOU FOR YOUR FANTASTIC WORK ,,,ADORE THE MUSIC AS WELL ,,,BE WELL , PEACE MY FRIEND 🙏❤🥰
I live in San Diego. I really would like to visit these famous people from the past, but it would be like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. I commend you and thank you for coming down here and giving us these P1 and P2 tours.
I too live here in San Diego and find this fascinating!
Edited to add…
I think I’ll have to visit these places. They really are so beautiful.
Thank you for your kind words for our veterans!
Ernestine Schuman-Heink was also known for entertaining the AEF troops in WWI; She also had sons in both the US and the German Navies!!!
Arthur Dark has mastered the ability to produce substantive and satisfying videos that make his viewers feel good. It's as simple as that. I also remember Victor Buono from his guest appearances on "The Wild, Wild, West" and "Hawaii 5-0." Arthur Dark enriches all of our lives through his work. I am forever grateful. Stay safe and be well.
My grandparents are buried at the one in El Cajon just off Dehesa, they lived in San Diego since the late 1920's
respect to san Diego`s old timers
Irving Bacon was featured in the film “ Spellbound” with Gregory Peck and Ingrid Bergman, as a train conductor -but I remember him more so in episodes of “I Love Lucy”. Most notably when he played Ethel Mertz’s father, Will Potter. ( which our host mentions ).
The cemeteries in San Diego are itself a work of art already. Very elegant, neat and classy. I wish to be buried in a cozy mausoleum like those when I die.
Greenwood was gorgeous. 😍 Such beautiful Cemeteries in San Diego.
Ayako Tami my grandmother is buried not to far from the lily pad pond in Greenwood.
"Welcome to Hollywood Grapeyard" 😂 that was funny
I Noticed That Richard Wessel Died On His 52nd Birthday ❣️ How Sad😢💔
That's interesting. Same with Shakespeare. Down to the age
I was just going to comment to him about it.....I thought I was the only one to notice....yeah, that is sad... makes you wonder did he have any loved one’s with him at the final curtain call....( maybe it’s just me..)
Victor Buono played Count Manzeppi on "The Wild Wild West" one of the best characters ever written, in my opinion.
He also made several appearances on Perry Mason...
I remember Victor Buono for a very sympathetic portrayal of president William H. Taft in the TV mini-series Back Stairs at the White House. Most folks have probably never heard of Taft. Buono played him well and quite realistically.
Oooo I’m going to look it up!!
Loved King Tut....I was such a Batman fan!
William Howard Taft went on to become a supreme CT Justice and founded a dynasty of Ohio politicians
I had a friend who was WH Taft's great nephew.
Victor Buono was an actor of genius.
Thank you for taking the time to talk about my brother vets Mr. Dark.
It's astonishing how beautiful these graveyards are.
Just shows no matter how ritch , famous or powerful you are it means nothing in end as its all the same ...stay humble people
As a young adult I just love watch these videos and learning about the older people of late generations
Hey Arthur, I'm such a huge fan of Hollywood graveyard and a huge fan of you so I've never stopped watching your UA-cam channel so keep doing what you do.
Before you know it, you’ve watched the whole thing. King Tut - my favorite! Great background information and always respectful of the persons you feature. Thanks Arthur!
he also played Mr. Shubert in the series The Man From Atlantis.
love this channel so much! hope everyone is doing well ❤️
It is very interesting and entertaining! I'm in Kentucky, so I get to "visit" from here!
@@lisaknox4257 ❣hello...
Verdade canal ótimo!🎬
Hope your doing good too, stay safe friend
@@mildredpeguero3653 hello!😀
Thank you for including Madame Schumann-Heink at 8:33 with her singing "Che faró" & Silent Night; and Amelita Galli-Curci at 13:46 singing a bit of Madame Butterfly. Marvelous to see Ft. Rosecranz National Cemetery at 19:56 ʕ•́؈•̀ʔ
It's amazing how much research you put into finding these past stars resting places. Also how you find them.
Thank you for all your hard work!
Welcome back Arthur , stay safe plz .
Absolutely beautiful cemeteries. San Diego looks so beautiful to live / die in. I love the way that you set up each visit to the cemetery and show surroundings. Thank you Arthur.
Every time I watch these, I have to take a moment of silence, feel blessed and Grateful because life is so short
My Dad and several family friends are at Ft. Rosecrans. It's such a beautiful, peaceful place to visit. I'll have to visit the other cemeteries around San Diego, especially since I don't live far from them.
Thank you for doing the Hollywood graveyard. Have you thought of doing a segment on the U.S Presidents? I would love to see where Washington, Lincoln and the others buried. Once again thank you From Ralph jennings A. K A buster f
I would like to see Richard Fiske his real name was Thomas Potts. He is best remembered in playing cameo rolls in the 3 stooges short film subjects
I just want to add that Amelita Galli-Curci was featured with her song "Home Sweet Home" in the absolutely wonderful Studio Ghibli film Grave of the Fireflies, a song that always makes me emotional. Thanks again for your awesome work Arthur.
So happy to see that the great Victor Buono is on this!!! He was a most amazing man in so many ways!!! Thank you so much!!!
Arthur Dark, you make death fun. You make death interesting. You make death educational. You show us places that we would otherwise never see. You show us the beautiful side of death. For this, I thank you.🤗🤗Death may be forever, but you help to make sure that memories live on. Many people spend eternity in a place more pleasant and beautiful than they spent life😎 Thanks for showing us this🐾🐾🐺
Victor Bouno played in the movie The Greatest Story Ever Told also.
Sad to see so much life end up as a small stone marker.!
Many don’t even get that
I agree!! I recently read about my great great great grandparents and their families. My aunt loves to show off and beat everyone to the cemetery on Memorial Day and such. But there is no one to acknowledge our relatives who made the incredible journey to America.
It is true my heartbreaking when there is no one to remember a person after they passed. Thank you for making such a powerful point.
(Ps I do plan to repair my family’s grave stone and I could see myself doing other graves too).
I’ve always thought that also.
So true Jay!
Sometimes it's the cemetary rules, for instance all have to be level to the ground and the same size.
That Anita Page was a real beauty. Thank you Hollywood Graveyard.
It is wonderful to see how the fans Reunited Raymond and Cissy Chandler on Valentine’s Day.
Thank you for these quality videos. Just found it couple days ago and now I am binge watching them. Also, I always have this feeling that I listen to Matthew McConaughey when watching your videos. Keep the good work up. :) I wish I could visit some of these cemeteries, exploring the history and people behind every tombstone.
I did not expect to encounter Charlotte Henry. A long standing tradition I follow is to watch March of the Wooden Soldiers, each year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Here's hoping she never looses her sheep again! Oh Peep!!
Love that movie!
As always Arthur, a great video. Didn’t recognize the names but I enjoyed the stories you put with their names.
⚰️I truly believe you show do a Special TV 📺 series on "Hollywood Graveyard"... That'll be AWESOME as hell 😎. I mean the Music for Hollywood Graveyard fits it so well.⚰️
So nice to see you back. Thank you again for your hard work in bringing us fond memories with the utmost of respect.
Love your channel man! I turned my dad on to you, we love old Hollywood actors and musicians of the past. Thank you for your work.
What a wonderful surprise to receive a notice of a new Hollywood Graveyard. Your videos are wonderful and a welcome distraction to what is going on. Keep up the great work 👍
That ending was awesome lol you stay classy San Diego
I stumbled upon these videos and now I'm hoooked!!!! It's kind of a history lesson of sorts. I had no idea Rod Serling was only 50 when he died and Jackie Robinson was only 53. Great job!
Struck by how well most of these places are so well kept. Many of my fellow Marines from Vietnam now rest at Rosencratz. Thanks so much for your insightful strolls.
Another "Hollywood Graveyard" masterpiece!
Beautiful tour, loved all the marble pieces and stained glass! Victor Buono is one of my favorites featured. As always, thanks for another great episode!!
How addictive is this channel??! Don’t even start watching unless you’ve got some time! Great job on these videos Mr. Dark and crew.
11:03 "Small Roles" as munchkins. You are too much Arthur!!
Yes! I was cracking up. People just don't believe me when I tell them how much fun Arthur is.
Really enjoy your tours! I’m learning more about the stars that my mom talked about. Your narration is soothing. Love it!
Hope your all doing well, absolutely love this channel. Take care one and all xx
The last mausoleum was breath taking !
I agree,
the art was amazing
All of them spent there lives entertaining and educating us. Thanks for honoring them with this show
Literally...THE BEST channel on UA-cam. I have rewatched every episode at least 10 times. You need your own television show, dude! Please don’t ever stop doing what you do! 5 stars ⭐️!
Your research is very impressive. I had a friend who was a genealogist; I would visit cemeteries with him where he'd take headstone rubbings of graves. That work made me realize how much you can find out about the living in the cemeteries.
Both my parents are at Fort Rosecrans! They are interred in a wall over looking San Diego bay!
Edit: My parents are a couple “panel” down from the guy who was in the Little Rascals! Dad was a huge fan and he would be tickled to be close the him!
Yet again!!!! Your attention to every little detail, from information, to movie posters, shots, overall presentation, and even humor....”Welcome to Hollywood Grapeyard”.....just continue to astound and magnetize me. THANK you, for all you do, Arthur Dark.
I want to be you, when I grow up.
Another great video. I especially liked the segment on our Veterans. Thank you for highlighting them.
Thanks for staying classy and stopping by my house with another great Hollywood Graveyard tours, even tough some of those that you showed was before my time, I still remember seeing them on television if it was interns. I can't wait for the next one, thank you Arthur..
Couldn’t have clicked any faster when I got the notification! Excellent as usual Aurther
OMG, I love how you honor those who are not so famous too. Thank you!
I have just watched 3 of your uploads back to back. Thank you to the crew of HG - as even during a Global Pandemic 😷 - you manage to deliver the goods 👏👏👏👏
Love the history!
I'm impressed that Anita Page was a Navy wife. She must have found that life much better than Hollywood.
Thank you Arthur for the wonderful work you do, it's always an amazing video. And I specially love how you can reference some forgotten stars, this is like a lesson on cinema history and a graveyard tour all in one.
Always love watching these...a great way to show remembrance and respect to the dearly departed.
You should do a "Dark Shadows" special.
Beautiful cemeteries, thank you. So glad you included the military cemetery. Thank you!
Hey Arthur: Is there a chance you will do San Francisco area, and maybe see Wyatt Earp's grave in the future?! I think that would be an awesome trip! Cheers!
I was just there on Sunday! Its a busy one, we got to the grave and there was already 3 people there.
Such gorgeous mausoleum and cemeteries!
Just checking on my daily vids for the day, and what appears? ANOTHER HOLLYWOOD GRAVEYARD! WOOHOO! So glad to see these on the internet. Wouldn't want TV to ruin them. You show so much respect to each and every one. Thank you.
You better not open that Well. In 2020 we don't need any more surprises
Agreed 😭
I agree on that
You got that right!
2020 needs to be re-booted. The current version has a virus.
Facts
Excellent wearing my Hollywood Graveyard T shirt and here is a new segment life is good.
Whoa--me, too! We musta had a sixth sense....lol.
Always love the music that is incorporated into your videos.
So many memories of the ones from the military part of the cemetery.
Thank you for your hard work.
So many of these old Hollywood actors served, I'm so thankful they did and then came home to entertain
A job well done.I believe there is a lot of hard work and travel involved on your part. Thanks for taking us down memory lane.
Bravo! I really enjoyed this one! The tiny touches, like ur clever comments about the weather 'miraculously' clearing up and how it moved back in. You never seem to forget the nature around you I appreciate that.
Thank you so much for these episodes..... Keeping me occupied and very interested. I am truly hooked. I am sad Victor Buono does not have his own grave instruction. I loved his work. He made what ever happened to baby Jane. Excellent actor
Love Anita Page...I was so thankful to get her autograph.
