No joke I lost a lot of respect for Rowan Atkinson as a person with this move. It's not that I don't admire him as an actor for all his great works, but it's just really sick how he can treat someone he has said to love in such a disrespectful manner.
Staying with someone you don't love whilst you're in love with another person is disrespectful too. It's a choice between two evils, I think he did the right thing. Probably many mistakes happened, but I don't think he planned to fall in love with someone so much younger... hell... during his first marriage he probably hoped they'd stayed together forever. Life takes different routes.
I see how people comment about the women breaking the family and etc but not how the man at first place is fully responsible for their acts. You're married for almost 2 decades with 2 grown up kids, no one is forcing you to involve in other relationship when you're commited to someone. This breaks my heart

I totally agree. If a man makes a commitment to a woman, it's not up to anyone else to honour that commitment, just him. If another woman comes along, she's not committed to his wife! The man broke the vow. (Or vice versa, whatever the case.)

And a gold digger. No doubt she'll ditch him once he starts getting older, and having a child is likely strategic as well (huge alimony payments and the child will inherit a fortune, which his gold digger mother may expect some of as well, as long as she gets on well with her child).

His first wife was beautiful, I am really disappointed with him, you marry for life and to grow old together, you don't want to have kids with a man who cheats, and stops you from actually choosing a loyal and faithful husband.

I honestly will never know why people cheat. If your marriage is so bad that you're able to be swayed by another than grow a pair and say something to your significant other. Tell them you're not happy or something is wrong or whatever. His daughter is right, it is a dick move.

@@tod3msn I think you need to re-read my post. No one has to stay married. You can divorce a person for any reason, that is your business. But to cheat? Yes, I believe cheating is not a good value to have. If you are unhappy, tell your partner and leave. If you believe cheating is appropriate in any commited relationship I hope you are upfront about that with your partners. They should know in case they had other ideas on what commitment means.

This is nothing but childish and morever selfish behaviour. I think most male and female might think that getting a new partner might bring more excitement to their life. Some women have desire to prove themselves as better than another woman (I.e. proof of her worth and attractiveness), others find married men more desirable. Many believe that if he left his girl/wife before, it certainly won't happen with her since she's special (latter case happened to my cousin. Needless to say, she divorced as her hubby cheated on her as well).
Because it's normalized on almost every single movie/tv show. It's almost impossible to find a movie, show or book that doesn't involve cheating. And it's made out to be fun and exciting.

Your comments sound like a teenager judging their parents’ choices in life. But life’s not that dark black or fluorescent white! It’s not because people are married that they don’t evolve in polar opposite ways and end up bored in each other’s company or even hating the mere sight of one another. My parents were married for 28 years. They stayed together “for us” kids. It was hell at home for at least 14 years of the 28 years.
I’m not saying people should only follow their hearts (or their pants), but that mariages are more complicated than the bloody woke generation demands it should be.
