Yeah I know bro, it’s rough paying less than $10 every 3 months or so to buy a whole new set of strings. I’ll be goshdamned if I’m going to spend $29-$32 a year for a new set of strings! Why use new strings when I can replace an old string with an old string that I previously replaced with an old string that I used to replaced an older string using a different old string?
The top plate is more rigid than in a clasic guitar because it has to support more tension for the steel strings. So, the acoustic guitar doesn't favor the warm tones that the nylon strings have. Still, it sound much better than I expected.
Hey man, on further restrings just something to keep in mind. It’s not good for you to detune all the strings at once to change them. That sudden pressure change is not healthy for the neck in the long run. Instead, I like to work from the middle. D first, then G and individually unwind (not cut in half) and restring. Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to pass along some knowledge that people have shown me over the years.
@@JustusHajas it’s all about pressure. If you unwind them all at once that’s a lot of pressure suddenly coming off your neck. It forces your neck to move suddenly and that over time causes wear and tear. If you do them individually, only a little pressure is relieved at a time and it’s healthier for your neck. I got this information from a guitar luthier with over 50 years of experience and he’s showed me necks that have warped from years of doing just that.
@@joshthomson1998I have a strat and every day I dive bomb all the way down everyday I have to do more neck adjustments on my guitar with no tremolo than the super strat
This says more about the quality of the guitar. It's not a "sudden" pressure change when you detune it, only if you just snipped them all at once while in tune. I'd also hate to see the gunk build up on the neck and frets if you do them one at a time. Only times I'd do that is for a quick change on my floyd rose.
he doesn't seem to take any advice nor criticism, so no good deed goes unpunished, i guess. thank you for passing on the advice, i heard about it before, but i always forget about it since i try and get the most out of every set of strings and don't change often.@@joshthomson1998
Also heads up to all you performers out there, you’ll need either a piezo pickup or an internal microphone if you want to amplify your sound. Coiled pickups will not pick up anything from G, B, or E and E, A, and D won’t come through very well.
@@qwertyujsmdksk Sure, except silk and steel strings are still steel strings - just very thin ones like in a cheese cutter - and they are definitely more painful than nylon strings. Can someone tell me why people on videos always cut all of the strings? What's the point of taking more effort and time to make more of a mess? You still have to remove them from the tuners at the headstock, and from the bridge at the body. What does cutting them save or prevent or improve? Plus now you have more pieces to potentially lose and stab your foot on when you don't realize it's stuck in the carpet, rather than just wrapping them all in a circle and pitching the bunch.
How did you restring? On a classical guitar you have to tie the string around the bridge, an acoustic has bridge pins thus you shouldn't be able to restring. Am I wrong? Please correct me

Very minimalist.
Guitar teachers should insist their beginners do this - fewer would quit because of finger pain. Really seems like a no brainer.
