Watching your videos helped me decide that this is something I would really like to do. I will be turning 26 this year and I finally feel like I have found what I want to do. Thank you for the great videos!
I'm turning 26 this year and I've very interested in this.
Turning 26 this year as well, new PTA program in my area opening next year, so glad I found your videos!
@@hisvirgotonic i am both 26, and interested over here lolol
26, and I am starting PTA classes next month :)
Im turning 26 this May, and am also interested in perusing a career as a PTA 😂
Great information. I personally like seeing the actual workplace and what goes on during a normal day. It gives great insight on what to expect. Awesome video as usual!!
Leighton Penn great feedback!
Thanks for your input!
I am a junior in high school and I have made my decision to pursue a career as a PTA. I’ve been researching a lot and your channel has helped me a lot.
In the current situation as you
same!!
How did that end up going for you ?
@@andresalcala2547 I’m in my 3rd semester of my PTA program and I graduate in May!
Did you end up being a PTA?
Being a PTA sounds very interesting. Is it physically taxing? Can a female with a small frame become a PTA or does the PTA have to be able to physically support and move patients?
He said he one of his videos that , if you have a small frame they will teach you ways to help other people and I He also said in terms of moving people there’s objects that can help with that too!
Honestly from watching your videos made me decide I don't want to be a nurse anymore and a Pta would be a better fit for me. I am in my second year of college right now and I'm currently taking my pre req courses and hopefully get into my schools pta program in Florida once I am finished. Thanks for the information videos. Can you do another day in the life video of the most calm days at work and the most stressful day? How you handle both environments. Thank you for your videos!
Awesome! I'm glad you like the videos. Let me know how your schooling goes.
And yah I will see what I can do about making more videos like that. thanks for the recommendation!!
Nicholas Cruz
This is exactly what i did! I was a year into my 3 year nursing program. I was getting nervous and was really doubting myself and feeling uneasy about the whole thing. I decided it was not for me and the day I quit school was the same day I applied for the PTA program that starts in August. Also, I have been a massage therapist for 8 years now so it makes more sense why I feel more comfortable with the PTA career vs being a nurse. I subscribed to his channel. This video was awesome!
@@josepina1673 i am in the same boat as you right now! i'm about 3 semesters in my nursing program and I am starting to realize this is not wha ti want to be doing for the rest of my life. plus tuition is crazy expensive at my college. I am really interested in becoming a PTA because i still want to be in the medical field and make a difference in people's lives :) how are you doing in the PTA program?
Wow that’s crazy I’m on my second year of college and I’m really doubting nursing now and looking for a change I’m thinking either this or radiology
Hi!! I am a newly licensed PTA and I just had my first job interview. I am super nervous to start my first job and I have no idea what to expect. Could you please make a video on what your first weeks were like as a new PTA and some advice for the first job!? Possibly starting out at a SNF! Fingers crossed. Thanks!
Is pta A level job in canada???
Did you get the job and how is it working as a PTA
start at 2:30 if you want to skip to the important stuff
I’ve been a massage therapist for 3 years now, and although I love it, I feel like I’ve gotten away from the medical/therapeutic aspect of it sometimes. Definitely considering becoming a pta! Thank you for your informative videos!
Same here. Did you go after it ?
Massage therapist here too! Also looking into PTA or OTA..I haven't yet made up my mind
I am currently working as a physical therapy aide/tech I work with the patients verify insurances schedule evaluations and I will be applying to the program next year! I learn SO much on the job what are studying tips.
Hi! I am actually an instructor for a physical therapist assistant program and I am working on creating a curriculum for students who are getting ready to begin their journey in a PTA program. The idea of the curriculum is to get students prepped for what PTA school is and to help them get ahead so they don't feel so stressed and overwhelmed. If you would be interested, I would love to ask you a few questions!
@@InstructorBrooks this sounds helpful! I've been interested in this field. I used to be a Massage therapist for chiropractors and just worked on people that had injuries. I want to take it further and want to help people more!
OMG I feel Famous, legit such a comfortable shirt!
I am doing some research before I do my interview to get into school and these videos are helping sooooo much! So much great info! I am in Canada thought I just don't know how much different the health care in PTA is from us to Canada
This video (along with your others on being a PTA) are so incredibly helpful. I'm currently in the midst of planning a career change and seeing what a day is like for a PTA, how you take notes, and things of that nature are SO beneficial to me in making my decision. Keep em' coming!
I am seriously considering PTA as a mid-life career move but I am concerned about job prospects. I was recently told that medicare will be reimbursing 20% less for PTAs starting next year. How do you think this will affect the field?
I have been personal training the last couple years since out of military. I have my own business now and have also recently gained the desire for a new adventure. Have recently learned about PTA professuon and looking to potentially get back to the books. Feel it is a smart choice before going PT.
You got yourself a subscriber! I'm becoming more and more interested in becoming a PTA! I'm going to probably watch every single one of your videos this weekend when I have extra time lol. Oh and I'm also from Michigan!
Nick Kronner nice! That’s awesome that you are interested in this career... and that you are from Michigan! Lol
Hi Antonio, I passed my boards on my third try. I am a huge fan of yours! Started a job that I absolutely love, at the SNF.
Are you able to do a video of how to become more efficient as a PTA when it comes to treat and document at the same time? The productivity is 90 to 95% in my facility.
I want to give all my time to help the patient and have a hard time documenting at the same time
Thank you in advance!
Anabela
Glad you like the channel! Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll see if I can make something in the future.
Antonio Sanson Thank you very much 👌🏾
Another great video. Thanks for putting out these videos Antonio. Also I like it when you show what you're doing in the clinic.
Shelby Eckhoff thanks for the feedback!
Glad they are helpful!
I’ve always felt like I wanted to go into nursing but my moms bestie is a pta so I’ve asked her about it and I don’t really know if nursing is for me!!! I don’t like hospital setting, I don’t like other people’s bodily fluids, and I don’t like school. In my state I’d have to do one more year online for a bachelors for me to even keep my RN license!! How annoying is that.
I just came across your videos and I have to say I really appreciate your information and interventions on what the roles and understanding what PTAs do! I am starting my first term into PTA! Wish me luck everyone! and I wish everyone else who is going through the same process!
If your passion is to help people to rehabilitate from injuries or any other kind of medical condition. The best option is to become a Doctor in Physical Therapy. But do it only if your passion is real genuine. Don't go into this profession if you are coming with the mentality to make $$$$$$ and pawn off your patients to unlicensed aides. Find another profession please if you don't have the time and the passion to spend time with your patients during their treatments.
hello i am a physical therapist from morocco i just dicovered your channel, nice videos, you have a new subscriber, you can also watch my channel, but it's in french ^^
loved the video! i’m a junior in high school, and i want to pursue a career in physical therapy. were there any steps you had to take in high school to prepare, or did you start figuring out your future career in college
This was the first video i watched when i searched "Physical Therapy Assistant" and i gotta say, I'm blown away. I also live in Michigan and, for the most part, this video answered many questions for me. I have always been involved and intrigued with helping people feel better on a physical level, but i feel like this video really spoke to my core.
I am not a massage therapist, i am not a certified physical trainer, i am not a nurse or dietitian, and yet i feel i have fulfilled these roles for some people. Every person i have "coached" or helped out has always left me feeling like "this is what i should be doing with my life" or "I wish i could get paid for this" but i have never give a PTA position hardly any thought until someone told me i should be a PTA the other day. After watching this video, i can honestly say that for the first time in my life, i know what i want to do. I looked up the requirements for a degree in this field and surprisingly i have all but one class of my prerequisites completed. I am seeking to go back to school shortly and finally complete my degree.
So thank you for this!
You're welcome! Thats awesome, let me know how it goes!
I think the assistant needs an assistant 😂… this system !
Thanks, finally someone making videos relating to PTA
Hi im currently in college, I have my associates in Kinesiology and Health. I will now be entering the exercise science program in order to enter the Physical Therapy program after. Just had some questions is there any way that I can work as a Physical Therapist Assistant? If so how, if not why. I took the majority of the classes that's required in the PTA program so I was just wondering.
The notes that you take down is it hard or you just describing on what you have done throughout the day with your patients?
It’s not hard, just time consuming.
You document the patients progress, limitations, what they say, what they did that day,
Just starting to look into to this! I always loved giving massages as a kid 😃
A massage therapist sounds like a better fit if you would like to look into it
I am a working on my associates degree in health science do you think it is possible to get a job as a PTA even tho I am not in a PTA program
This is so helpful to me, I am going to PTA Program, thank you, I can learn more from it
if you don't mind me asking, how old are you? Because, I want to enroll in a PTA program as well but it's a little complicated. I can take the cheaper route but I won't be able to apply for fall 2020 or I can apply for another school that starts at March next yr. But tuition is so expensive. Also, I'm already 24 yrs old with a BS degree
Eugene Barretto I am 26 years old
Eugene Barretto you are same like me, I probably enter this about this winter or spring, because I have to pass ELS program
Eugene Barretto how about you
@@juanqinzhuang7828 I am planning to start this fall or next spring. it really depends on my financial status if I can start sooner rather than later. I'm going to school in Illinois
As always, great information. Looking forward to learning more. Thanks.
Really nice to see what a PTA actually does on a day to day basis. I am thinking about becoming a PTA myself. Is there any advice you have for a person who is thinking about going to school and taking up this profession?
Awesome!
there is so much I could say lol. It just takes a lot of effort so be determined to finish, stay focused and motivated, and don't be afraid to reach out to people if you are struggling through something!!
This is what I want to do thank you for the reassurance !!!
Hi I'm considering going back to school for PTA. How long did it take you to get your degree and was it difficult for you? (By the way this is my daughter's UA-cam channel) lol
The total length including prerequisites and the program took me two years to complete it and it had its challenges. It is a lot of information to take in so you really have to focus on your academics.
@@AntonioSanson I already have over sixty unit's. I have English Biology, Art, leadership, Forensics, Strength Training Lab, and Speech 101, and psych 1 and lifespan psych... And also Swim team and water polo... So. U think that will speed things along a lil bit?
Hi Antonio!
I was wondering.
Are PTA’s more hands on than a PT?
I’m a hands on type of worker.
And I’m afraid pursuing this career isn’t a literal hands on career. Thanks!
Déja Cordero yah it is mostly hands on!
You are usually showing exercise, doing manual therapy, administering modalities, and so on.
I want to become a PTA.
Sheisa Villegas Collazo that’s great!!
Hey bro need your help!!!
I am an Indian qualified physiotherapist . Can I work as PTA after coming to Canada ???

I am a New York license Physical Therapist Assistant. In a few days I will reveal to all of you the truth about this profession. You are not going to like what I have to say about my profession. Consider other career.
Did you have a bad experience or something?
Im loving your videos Antonio. Keep giving that quality information for the upcoming PTA's.

Awesome videos. Very useful information. I’ve been thinking about PTA school for some time now and the more I understand the day to day role the more confident I am I will enjoy it! Thanks for sharing!
Hi. I'm in my 40s
Do I have any chance to submit PTA and then finding job in this field, accourding to my age?
Thank you so much for the information. Can you give me some advice on how to be a Therapy technician that goes above and beyond but also staying in the scope of practice.
I am a 46 years old male. I have been a licensed massage therapist since 2003, not that I have been a working therapist, but we won’t put that on my resume😂 Anyway, I was in PTA school 14 years ago and left when we had a house flood. I have now been accepted and start in August 2024. It’s a two year program. I’ll be doing Massage when I have time. I find it ironic that I can evaluate and treat patients as a Massage Therapist and even emailed the board about using weights and exercise and it seems I can do that as well. But as a licensed PTA I can not evaluate and create a treatment plan. I did some observation at an outpatient physical therapy clinic and loved it. You’re correct in that it is a mutual team work relationship, not like a boss saying do this and a PTA can supplement similar exercise that have the same range of motion, if it works for the patient better. PTA follow the plan, but it’s more of an outline for the PT’s intention because a PT is not going through all the exercises each time. A lot of patients don’t continue exercises at home and slow their recovery and ability. Others kill it at home and come in ready to rock and roll, fortunately this was the majority of what I saw in outpatient. What I hated about outpatient, standing not doing anything but observing. Most of the PTA was not as hands on as I had expected. Most exercise is done by the patient and observed by the PTA. Part of this is billing. They keep in mind, like you mentioned, what maximizes their time, but really what maximizes billing. Manual work may get the job done but hands off modalities pay more, both are just as effective as the other.
As always you’re content is top notch! Keep it up! Your videos are very helpful to me because they bring up conversation topics that I can engage in with the PT that I’m shadowing. Thank you!
Anthony Galloway thanks!
That’s really smart of you to do to help you learn more!! Keep it up!
Why'd you choose PTA instead of being like a physical therapist getting your DPT ?
Ephraim Alexis I didn’t know much about the career so for me it was a way to test it out to see if I liked it instead of going for my DPT and regretting it.
I'm so glad I discovered this channel because I'm in the absolute basic beginning of taking my pre recs and Im starting to panic. Looking at videos of the day-to-day life really makes me feel motivated to keep going with school because school has already been overwhelming me so much and it's hard to keep my motivation and passion for this career choice at times. Keep up the good work.
Thanks! Thats great that you have started your schooling. I know it can definitely feel overwhelming at times! what state do you live in?
Thanks! I live in Cleveland, ohio.
So awesome mate, I’m from the UK 🇬🇧 and Monday I have an interview for a PTA job 🤞😷😂
How did it go!
I didn’t get it guys 😪 260 applicants! The whole Covid situation didn’t help I guess 🤪😂
GreenEYESfromOHIO Mental man! Well there’s so many people out of work now thanks to Covid and the NHS kind of look after their own first which I don’t blame them.Onto the next one!💪
hey im about to have a entry level job offer as a PTA and it will be my first job as a PTA if i get a job offer extended to me and i was wondering if i will be able to negotiate the salary i am offered? i dont really have any relative job experience to PT however im 20 years old and im currently a manager for the Kohls retail store and im just curious if i can negotiate the salary and if you would mind sharing your first PTA job starting salary if you dont mind of course, you do not have to if you are not comfortable sharing that. i would really appreciate if you could answer this for me thank you
i am also bilingual i speak spanish and english
johnny v that is a tough question lol. If you have experience as a PTA it is easier to negotiate your pay. If you already are told you have the job then maybe you could try asking if you can negotiate your pay but that is hard for me to say not knowing the details of your specific situation.
My first job as a PTA in an outpatient clinic was $18 an hour
Hopefully this helps some!
Good info bro 👍🏼
BeastorFail thanks man!
Hi, Antonio. I was wondering if you have ever worked with kids? Right now I'm in my undergrad program & I'm really thinking about going to PTA program. I have seen the role of a PTA and I love it since I'm interning at a private clinic. I'm really grateful to see your video.
Ashley Clayden Moss thanks a ton!
And yes I work with all different age ranges. It is really fun working with kids actually! I’ve worked with babies, 3yr olds, teens, and all the way up to 98 lol
Oh this utube is a pain in the ass if your comment goes long as the ads bounce you out and you have to start all over. My comments are connected to the references of it being a "clown" job and i understand what your all saying as when the PT runs me through exercises that are basically just filling in the blanks on the paperwork that justify the billing. I refuse, anymore, to jump through the hoops of driving across town (post covid and this bribem administration) spending 40$ per copay 2-3x a week to do exercises that im perfectly capable of doing in my own living room. And one reference to these useless modalities like ultrasound, laser, and electrostim that over the last 50 years have lost effectiveness... my uncle was a chiropractor and during the 50s-90s these and diathermy were once of real value...are no longer being offered at what they were. Such a shame for the patient but i know the medical community always did political battle with chiropractors back in the day so now here we are and the insurance companies make money while dictating who gets what. At the risk to the patients health. So going into this career field is going to result in realizing you're going to have to deal with understanding you're not going to ever be able to do it all right by your patients and you're going to have to administer "clown" treatments and services because this will be all the "system " will allow you to do. At 70 yo I've watched the evolution and it's very disappointing to once have gotten treatment that really put me back on my feet to realizing that it's going to be up to the patient to educate and advocate for their own health and recovery. Giid luck to all of you who choose this career path as maybe, i doubt it, the pendulum will swing back to a more positive end result.
Should you have passion for this field? I have been into fitness for quite a few years and am starting my prerequisites this fall for the PTA program, because I feel it's the best field for me as far as investment to debt goes and prior knowledge that I have accumulated over time; I just want to have more of a passion for it then I currently do.
MC Adams I feel like the more experience you get in the field the more in to it you will get.
Passion is something you can create and grow so even if it is not exactly there currently, you can grow into it more and utilize your strengths that you currently have.
My passion leans more towards presenting new ideas and helping people make a change for the better in their lives, so I utilize video and communication in physical therapy so it’s not always just working one on one with patients.
Find out what you love to do and figure out how you can integrate that into physical therapy!
Thanks for you help, I appreciate it!
I love these videos, I have gotten so much valuable info and you have really finalized my decision to go into this field
This is the only job I feel excited to actually do. I want to be a full PT but I’m just starting off as an assistant first

@Meh What's PRN? Also, how did you get into home health? I'm 26 and am strongly considering pulling the trigger on beginning schooling for PTA.
Meh agreed
@@joecool5492 im in the same boat 26 really considering it
Hi Antonio, watching some of your videos really helped solidify my passion towards becoming a PTA and eventual PT. However, I was wondering if you think a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy would make someone overqualified for a PTA position? This somewhat puzzles me and I could use some advice please and thank you 🙏🏾
Antoine Thompson not really, i think the PTA degree will actually shift over to be a bachelors degree in the future
Thompson, I recommend you to do the DPT program. But, do it only if your passion for help others is genuine and after you become a DPT, practice with respect, passion, integrity and ethics. Don't become like some DPTs that pawn off their patients to unlicensed aides.
Thank you so much for this information, I am just now starting my journey to become a PTA and I've been kind of scared but knowing these things ahead of time helps a lot!
loved your video man God bless you Jesus Christ love you man God cares you so much about keep working hard man
Question: As a PTA, can you arrive to work early and use the gym to work out?
It depends on the clinic and if they are okay with you going in early to work out. At my clinics we were able to exercises if another clinician or someone else was there. People would usually work out on their lunch breaks.
Hi Antonio! I am going to reapply to the PTA program at my community college. Due to COVID-19, I was unable to do observation hours. If you don’t mind, may I ask some questions I would typically ask during observation? There are the questions: 1. What is your biggest challenge as a PTA? 2. Why did you choose PTA over PT? 3. How do you deal with a difficult patient? -Thank you in advance.
Can’t wait to start !
Thank you soo much for the information! Wish you only the best🌷
Michelle Martinez thanks! Are you interested in this field?
Can you please make a video of the differences about PTA and OTA? Thank you.
Lidi G I’ll try!
Ideally id like to interview a OT or OTA to get more insight.
It might take some time to set up a time to interview someone though!
Thanks for the comment.
This was super helpful, as I am in school currently to be a PTA. I'm looking forward to it, and am looking for some helpful resources, specifically with studying and applying real world situations. Could you please suggest some podcasts you've found helpful?

love your attitude man! I am currently studying for the TEAS Test to get into PTA School, any advice for that? Did you have to take that test?
Hi, I am a PT in Germany. We do not seperate between PT and PTA, cause PTA does not exist here. We examine and treat as well. Here is my (stupid) question. Why don't you go for PT and why is this profession seperated in two parts in your country?
Loved this video! I have been debating going to nursing school or PTA- and your videos are really selling me on the PTA route 🙂 thank you!
Kimberly Valdez haha that’s great!

This is awesome- just what I needed. Thanks!
Can you make a video about being a physical therapy Aide. And what they do in physical therapy??? In California you have to be a physical therapy AIDE for a year or two before being a physical therapist assistant.
Charisma Carrillo I’ll see what I can do.
how many days a week do you work and what do your hours look like?
Yadira Rivas I used to work 7-5 at my old job
But now with helping Mehgan run the clinic my schedule varies much more. Usually we see patients Monday through Thursday from about 8-3 but it varies and there are more things that I do besides just treating patients now like scheduling patients, calling sometimes to insurance companies and the business side of things.
Antonio Sanson This sounds like a great career for a single mom like myself. Are you required to work weekends or it depends?

In New Jersey I don't think you're allowed to progress or make any changes to plan if care
Yah we can't change the POC either but if the therapist does instruct you to advance the patient you still have to be able to do that.
Awesome! Im in the mitten too😃
I liked seeing how in a way pta is incorporating elements of being a yoga instructor massage therapist and personal trainer in one role.
julia siladke small world lol!
There are a lot of treatment strategies that you can use in physical therapy.
Where else would a PTA work? Would a hospital hire one ?
PTA's are utilized in the acute care, sub acute, rehab hospital, homecare, outpatient and long term care setting.
@@ThrowerX70 oh okay I'm in Newfoundland and I'm thinking about taking.this course. The pay here Is probably alot lower though then what you get out there. I believe the starting pay here is 17-22 per hour but the cost of living here is high.
@@adamwells2640 changes in the US medical system are driving reimbursement and rates crazy low, there has been industry wide layoffs and salary cuts. This is something you wouldn't have to contend with. Low 20$/hr is entry level for any outpatient orthopedic, as well as inpatient hospital here in Philadelphia, PA. SNF or LTC is 30+/hr.
Can we get like a determined to be a physical therapist assistant shirt? Or like, you know, a shirt for us in the making PTA’s?
I can see what I can do.

Thanks so much. You are so pretty😉
haha thanks!
What podcast are there for pt, pta I am very interested 😮
do you plan on becoming a PT? or just staying a PTA?
Michael Cash currently I plan to stay as a PTA for a while and see where it takes me. If I wasn’t helping mehgan run a clinic and all this I might consider going back but for now I’m content with where I’m at.
This was helpful information that really cleared up a lot of questions I had for this field!
Can a PT make goals for the Plan of Care and the PTA chooses the exercises or does the PT choose the exercises themselves?
Usually the pta has the freedom to choose the exercises they want to do with the patient.
very helpful .. thank u ^^

so helpful! Thank you
Would you say it's difficult to get hired right out of school I've seen a lot of places around my area want people with experience too
I would say it depends on the area you live in and the need of therapists around you. You might even need to try looking in like a 45 mile radius or something and have to drive if you can’t find something close.
