These RAPT Temperature Controller boxes are what you need to log, track and control pretty much any heating or cooling device. Really handy for home brewing, wine making or fermentation in general. Set complex temperature profiles that enable you to change the temperature over time.
This temp controller connects to your wifi and also has a bluetooth gateway function so it can pickup on other RAPT bluetooth beacons and relay the info up to the hub too. - Навчання та стиль
We re-uploaded this one as the previous one was not encoded in high enough resolution.
The thought in the design features to be able to switch the cables from underneath to the back is a great idea. Also being able to remove the front seal to mount it and hide the screws. I really like how you think through these products to make them more versatile. I just got my RAPT Pill but I see one of these temperature controllers in my future.
Thanks for that. We really appreciate it. we are doing whatever we can to make our products versatile. Hopefully we have some additional probes for the temp controllers available soon.
Another excellent looking product. It's so refreshing to see a company that puts so much thought into their products 👍
Thanks for that. I think this device is super exciting and it will open up a huge number of opportunities for this device to be used for other things too. We have already got some really awesome firwmare requests from customers so we will implement this soon.
Excellent video. Would love to see Kegland open a UK online shop
Definitely going to buy one! Would absolutelty love to see a firmware update that allows to turn a pump connected to the blue output on and off for use in a BIAB brewing setup.
As I understand it, this is a PID unit that would be able to control heating elements for step mashes, etc, much like what is on the BrewZilla? That being the case, a firmware update that could use the blue connection to turn off and on a pump would be great. Seems like it'd be a good option for eBIAB in that case.
@KegLand Love it!
I have your IceMaster G20 glycol chiller.
Can I use these products together?
I’d prefer not to just plug in the G20 to the power socket of the temp controller - would be much better to have the unit always switched on, so that it can keep the glycol mixture at the correct temperature, ready to be pumped through the temp twister when instructed.
I've just bought one of these and am very keen to test it out. Is there any way to set up a slow PWM out of the relay in order to vary the power output irrespective of temperature? I would love to also be able to use this device like your Power Station power controller but with better connectivity. Cheers!
Love that I can set temp control based on gravity reading! Didn't' think that would be possible. Would love it if it was possible to set a duty cycle for the cooling. My home made glycol chiller is struggling to keep up. Some settings for pausing the cooling for a given time period when the warning for cooling is "not able to reach temperature" would be fantastic. Thanks for a great product!
You can adjust hte Mode Switch delay and the Compressor Cooldown in Settings
Fantastic! Have you ever thought about a submersible and connected pH meter for kettle sour?? Or one where the probe is on a cable so you can check without ripping the plastic film off??
That is something that we have considered. I should say the pH meters that can handle permanent immersion in liquid are quite expensive.
Awesome. Getting one of these for the chest freezer (acts as a fermentation cabinet, big enough for 4x 60L fermenters). Wiiicked.
Just need a few Pills now to go with it.
It'd be great if multiple Pills could talk directly to the rapt temp controller (using Bluetooth beconing?). Not sure if at the moment only one Bluetooth device can be connected?
We are working out the details for this at the moment. I think it might be possible to have up to a maximum of 6 or 8 bluetooth devices connected. We are working on a new firmware and going to increase the size of the database array so this can be possible. Luckily we upgraded the memory on the PCB for these so these types of upgrades are possible in future. Hopefully it's not too long until we release this new firmware.
There's no one who's solving REAL home brew problems faster than KegLand right now! Continuing to kill it; just hoping to see more of your products available in the US sooner.
Question: When using the RAPT Temperature Controller AND the RAPT pill does the temperature controller use and log BOTH temperature probes simultaneously? -So you could use the wired probe for the temp chamber / fridge air temp and then obviously the RAPT Pill would provide temp readings from the liquid inside the fermenter.
I've had issues with the InkBird WIFI: if I measure the temp of the air in the fridge it cycles fast and takes FOREVER for the wort in the fermenter to actually get to my set temp; if I measure the temp of the liquid / use a thermowell I get more rapid chilling but the InkBird overshoots. -There have been some VERY accurate controllers that have used dual probes in the fact. (Although if you're using PID control for the cooling side with "fuzzy" logic algorithms tuned to the particular fermenter and chamber, I think you may avoid the big temp swings of a "dumb" temp control mechanism like the InkBird WIFI uses.
Thanks for that Adam. We are definitely working hard down here to get new stuff out the door but luckily it's something that we enjoy doing so it's really not work at all!
Very cool product. You guys are raising the bar. Question about the Pill and temp controller interoperability. Are you able to use the temp readings from the pill instead of the temp readings from the probe to control heating and cooling?
Literally the very best use of the Pill - connect to the RAPT Chamber or Temp Controller via Bluetooth unlocks massive functionality, actually
This is so cool
Yes this temp controller is awesome for the price. Every home brewer should have one.
Would be cool to have tighter integration with pill. For example programme cold crashing when gravity reaches 1.010 instead of programming in hours/days alone.
I would have assumed fermentation profiles could be pushed down from rapt?
Yes totally agree. We are working on this right now so I think this level of integration is not far away now.
USB outputs would be good for small fan/s to be powered in fermentation chamber.
That's a fair point. I will mention this to the design team
I have recently bought this from you guys hoping it would be suitable for use with you alcoengine still and brewzilla i mainly purchased it for its connectivity to my mobile and pc for a live feed on temp no matter where i was but im stumped as to how to get a live feed to mobile or pc other than the graph which doesnt update the temp fast enough. It's sensitive enough to sense slight temp changes but i cant see them in real time or even with a slight delay on pc or phone any help would be much appreciated i know this device is more suited to brewing but thought its advanced customisation would enable me to do simple live feed of the temp? I'm probably missing something obvious but can't for the life of me figure it out. Any help much appreciated.
Gorgeous. I have a fermentation chamber in a bakery needing an upgrade. Any possible way to use this or any of the RAPT gear to log the temperature across multiple fridges in a commercial kitchen setting?
At this stage you really need to use one of these temp controllers per fementation chamber that you have. What type of fermentation chamber are you using at the moment?
@@KegLand I am using just one fermentation chamber - a fridge, heat mats, and an inkbird controller. Diy version of yours. But, I have a couple of storage fridges and a freezer. I manually measure the temp across all, and log them for the health Dept. Having something monitor and log the 4 devices, and control the temp of the ferment chamber would be ideal.
Integration with some zigbee or similar devices would be great.
How about future models generalized for even more semiautomation -- 4-port or even 8-port models, or a way you can buy multiple 4-port units and sync them together? Firmware tuned for easy programming and control by the minute rather than the day.
E.g. brewhouse: control pumps and solenoid valves.
Keg washing: control pumps, solenoid valves, 15A elements.
I'd also like to see more BT input devices, not just the thermometer. How about a BT vertical float switch? That'd be great for brewhouse and tank washing (dry-fire protection).
This is something that we are disussing at the moment. It could be on the horizon but it will probably be a little way off.
Could you do a firmware upgrade so this could control relative humidity? This would be great for my cigar humidor! The weather in the south is so variable that I’m always having to physically go into the humidor and make adjustments. This would allow me to increase/decrease humidity on demand remotely. The red plug could control my humidifier and the blue my dehumidifier. I’m currently using Inkbird controller now and I can view results via WiFi but can’t make changes. I have over 1200 cigars in my humidor and it’s a large investment so this would be an excellent upgrade!
This is something that has been pushed back as we have other more urgent RAPT products to finish first but we will get back to this in the future. Sorry it's taken a bit long.
Great device! Please tell me what type of temperature sensor is installed in the controller - DS18B20 or NTC?
This uses an NTC.
Awesome looking product! Any way to connect it to a grainfather glycol unit?
You could definitely plug your grainfather cooling unit into this controller if you wanted to do that.
Does this have integration with Amazon Alexa? -The one feature I DO like from my InkBird WIFI is being able to ask Alexa to check the fermentation temp or set the temp. (Or use custom Alexa Routines for automations.)
We have not got the Alexa or google integration yet but this is something we will do eventually.
@kegland can you sell it to me in laymans terms why i'd be better off with buying this rather than an inkbird thats half the cost?
i'm not trying to be rude i just want to buy the right product. I also have the recently bought virtually everything to begin my home brewing journey from you guys including the rapt pill
Any help would be great thanks
This looks amazing...any chance of getting one for the UK market? Surely it wouldn't take much for the suppliers in China to make that modification? 🤷♂️
Yes absolutely. If you go to Angel Brewing or Malt Miller in UK and request for this product they will be able to order this product for you.
What about a rapt controlled spunding valve for pressure fermenting?
Yes this is in the pipeline and hopefully available early next year.
Can the next version of this have a "12v output" as well... keezers and fermentation fridges need airflow and having this all built into the controller would just be so simple as opposed to more power adapters etc...
That is a fair point. I will talk to the product development team about this and see if we can make it happen.
Is there a 12v version of the temperature controller? I would like to use it with a grainfather chiller.
I am sorry but we do not have a 12V model yet. It would be possible to open up the box and run the electronics off 12 v but you would have to modify this yourself.
Is there any benefit to using a freezer over a fridge for temp control or are they much the same?
They are much the same. So this temp controller will work fine with either type.
Hace you consider making the firmware open source? This would allow the community to modify it and make other uses of this and other products!
We have a public API so if you guys wanted to use the data in another device this is possible now. we are reluctant to make the actual firmware on the device open source as this might enable some customers to damage the device.
Looking at building a glycol heater/cooler for a single FV. Would this unit be capable of varying the power output to both heating and cooling in order to remotely adjust the temperature with precision? eh cold crash when ready to whilst at work. Would be assume to have this level of control!!!
Yes this will do that fairly easily.
Great innovative products as always! Is there a way to connect the controller to Brewfather? For examplw attaching the controller to a batch which would then grab the fermentation profile from brewfather
Not as yet
Any chance we can change the rtd so that the temperature can get up to 250-300 degree c? The Bluetooth thermometer would be a alternative option I guess
Yes that is right. The bluetooth probe is the only option at this stage. With that said you can fit your own NTC temp probe to this device which is approximately 100k ohm but you would just have to re-do the calibration that's all. The settings in the controller will allow you to do that.
Wonderful controller! When will it be ready to upload XML files into this fantastic kegland controller? 😀🤟
That is something we have been considering. Thanks for the support!
So here is my question slash request. Could create a situation/firmware were we could replace a coolbot with this controller?
Yes we already have an API and we are also in the process of activating the webhooks too so you guys can do your own integration. If you are part of the RAPT users group there is more information and discussion on this topic so I would join this Facebook group if you are interested in doing this.
Downloadable stl files for controller stand ( 3d printers). I have the pill and have a WLAN inkb is there a way to connect them? Or is there a logger/repeater module that I can order? Logger probe that I can set in the middle of the grain?
We do not have control of the inkb firmware so there is no way for us to make them communicate. If you get this device we are about to release a new firmware upgrade so this temp controller will sync with the Pill and be a bluetooth bridge.
@@KegLand I have a couple of those ink things but I seem to be a Kegland fan boy So i think I will order the controller when it's available here and also the new60l kettle. 😅👍 Keep up the good work of innovating.
Hey, i am from brazil and i have a lot of kegland products, including the rapt pill. Would love to pair it with one of these. Any chance of producing it with brazilian pattern outlets?
Yes we can definitely do that for you. We already manufacture these with many different power outlet options around the world. Can you please go to your local distributor in Brasil and they will be able to request this from us.
Olá. POderia me esclarecer uma dúvida? Quando crio um profile de fermentação cujo próximo passo vai acontecer quando atingir determinada gravidade especifica , essa informação tem que ser digitada em gravidade especifica ( ex: 1.011 ) ou em grau plato / brix ( Ex.: 2.89) ?
On the portal we use the specific gravity by default. So you can enter "1.020" for instance.
Can this device control both freezer and storage part of the fridge? My fridge only have few knob to control temp from low to high, can it bypass these knobs?
It will control whatever is plugged into it, essentially
Mr Slug from the Home Brew Network doesn't have one of these yet
Yes I am sure he will purchase one of these soon and try it out.
Is there a firmware update to use it as a grow chamber controller?
It's a temperature controller, so you can simply design a custom profile to suit your needs
Greetings , how do i clear the cloud for my next brew? , cheers
When you start a new profile or start a new session it will re-start the process again. You can also hit the "stop" button on the profile or session and it will also stop the process too.
When it will come to the UK?🙏
I can not wait anymore 😬
I have a Wi-Fi InkBird that could never managed to get connected 🤬
I just had a look and looks like these guys might be a good place to go in the UK:

@KegLand Thank you. I hope they have it in stock soon, I'm dying to try it out. 🍻
Since you can't sell the RAPT Pill digital hydrometer in the USA, can you make the Tilt floating hydrometer a bt becon?
In other words, can you pair the Tilt with the Temp controller?
Not possible, sorry
@@KegLand legal issues?
Is it possible to connect the rapt pill to use it as a thermometer or to detect that the sg reaches the target value to change the temperature?
Hey Jiajun. We are working on a new firmware version that will do this. Should be released very soon.
@@KegLand hi i have the rapt pill and the rapt controller now ,want to connect them together ,but i can’t find the Bluetooth setting on the rapt pill,so how can i do?
@@jiajunluo86 The new firmware that is due to be released in 2 weeks will do this. You will need to update the firmware on both devices so this is possible.
Needs a delayed start timer, that way you’re not waiting for things to heat up.
Other then that they are really good
In the pipeline, actually
When are these going to be available in the US?
It's best to ask www.morebeer.com or www.williamsbrewing.com
I'm interested in firmware to run than 100C i.e. toaster oven if possible and with timers if possible till off - even if it requires changing out temperature probe - would make a lot of knife makers happy who are building their own from rex-100 pids dangerously
This can be done with he bluetooth temperature probe that goes up to 300C.
Can you use the RAPT Pill as the temperature sensor rather than using the wired temperature sensor?
It's not really ideal to do this. At the moment the frequency on the RAPT pill is not fast enough so if we did this you could potentially be cooling or heating too much before the pill updates the device with the relays. What we are probably more likely to do is use a combination of both probes and then have a threshold setting so the temperature would not entirely be taken from the pill but partly also take from the NTC probe cable connected to the device.
@@KegLand thanks for the response. I have been using the Rapt Pill to monitor fermentation, it's fantastic by the way, but what I've noticed 2 things that I feel negate your comment.
First, the battery life of the Rapt Pill is amazing, I currently have it sending information via wifi every 30min and the battery after 9days is still 100%, so I am thinking of changing frequency of data packets to 5min or less. This would mean that the sensing is more in line with temp controller needs.
Second, after logging data on many fermentations I notice an almost sine wave of the fridge temp controller going down to set temp and then increasing to the 0.5°C variance threshold triggering fridge cooling again back to set temp (so 18°C to 18.5°C to 18°C and so on and so forth). The key point which negates your concern is the timeline of this sequence, each wave occurs over 4-6hrs, so even doing 30min data packets, it's not a concern.
I believe the benefits of temp controlling the fermentation based on the actual liquid temp rather than fridge temp, far outweighs the other concerns.
Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks
@@KegLand can you let me know if you can activate this feature.
@@KegLand glad that you implemented my suggestion, thanks for that!
Is this an on off unit or can I regulate voltage to my boiler ?
This is not to regulate voltage. Sounds like you might be looking for a power controller to do that:
