  • We were recently flipping through a copy of the April 2022 Country Living magazine and ran across a section (starting on page 80) showing off antique rustic farmhouse looking signs. They were selling for up to $500!! 😲 In this tutorial, we are showing how you can paint a very similar wood sign for just a fraction of the cost!
This also inspired a brand NEW collection of stencils for us. Shop our Rustic Farmhouse Word Stencils here: studior12.com/collections/rus...
Catch us LIVE on Tuesday at 12pm eastern for a Q&A with Patty and Kari G!
✔️Subscribe and click the bell to be notified when we post more videos about other DIY ideas and crafting projects! Stencils make wood signs and clocks easy to craft. Great for home decor and gifts, as well as great sellers for craft shows. Use the Dome stencil brushes and learn the loading technique will prevent bleeding under stencil edges. Once you've caught onto this painting technique your stenciled projects will be a snap!

I also love watching and learning from you two. It feels like visiting with a friend who's showing me how to do a project I've wanted to try. I found your channel right after I tried doing my first stencil. I thought it was going to be easy, but it was a disaster! Each time I tried the paint ended up seeping under the stencil. I was so frustrated and disappointed because whenever I had watched the DIY crafting tutorials it always looked so easy. I'm glad I didn't give up and found your channel. I think it was Kari who was showing how to do it with the really dry brush, and circular motions. So, I tried again, and it worked the first time. Later I bought the set of brushes with purple handles and a couple of stencils, which I love. Thank you!

Thank goodness I saw you on the you tube home page, you’re just what I need. I’m a new subscriber now and I need all the help I can find. I’m working on signs and using the same ole techniques, boring. I learned so much from your experience and will follow your instructions to up my game. I love working with wood and transforming nothing to something. I love stenciling and recently bought two on Etsy at a low cost. They were so flimsy and you couldn’t even see the word being all the same clear color. I had to paint them to see the cut outs. My question is….is there a mm size I should be looking for? I prefer a thicker stencil than what I got. Also, can you use a candle instead of wax? Looking forward to more videos.

@@StudioR12Stencils I’ve already used a candle and as long as you leave a good amount, it works great.

It turned out really sharp n old looking but you lost me after the 4th thing to do. I have a tendency to be inpatient . As for me I would of skipped a few layers n moved onto the wax part.
I know I’m not doing any favors to myself doing that but I have to be honest here I don’t want to do all those layers. Sorry Patti, I know that’s not a good thing. Your sign did turn out amazing. ♥️❤️😊👍👍

Ha The ones that look the oldest are often the ones that take the longest. The beauty of this is there is no right and wrong!! You can get snippets of info and techniques and use them as you please!
