@@JoshaHoudt severing your thumb tendons would be a career ending injury. Shin somehow found a way to come back from that and he has carpal tunnel as well so he can only practice for like a couple hours before his hands/wrist starts to hurt
Stop exaggerating. Carpal Tunnel isn't something you get from an injury. It happens when you basically overuse your hand and wrist in a way that presses on the nerve. In his case, it was playing the piano. It's repairable so it's not career-ending. He had to choose piano or magic because the carpal tunnel can come back if he continues to play piano. He chose magic since that was his passion. Didn't you know google is a wonderful tool to learn about people.
I don't know why these performances actually make me feel emotional. The beauty of the simplicity and the synchronising movements with the epic music, it's just so incredible. He'll just drop three cards and they become two. It's nuts how good he is.
I don’t even want to know how it’s done. It is such an amazing act. Shin Lim is the best magicians in the world today… possibly of all time. That was unreal, it looked like real magic, (even though I know it was a combination of sleight of hand, and black art). It’s no wonder why he won the show. He is truly gifted.
Are you interested in learning magic at all? If so, you'll want to know. It will be disappointing, then make you feel impaired, then once *that* shock has worn off, you wont get enough of watching it. This act is like 98% performance and 2% skill. But even knowing 100% of it, I still find it more amazing everytime. The second vanish is just so psychologically savage, even though *you* could do it with a couple hours practice. The best part of doing magic, is doing something right in front of someone, that you know you cant possibly get away with... and totally getting away with it.
Best comment I saw about Shin Lim. "Other magicians use sleights to make people think they have supernatural powers. Shin Lim uses his supernatural powers to make people think he is doing good sleights."

I had the opportunity a few years ago to see this skyline in vegas, let me tell you his live performances are even more amazing than just watching UA-cam videos. I no I'm biased on this one, but I literally believe he's probably the greatest magicJack ever. The way that he makes the cards disappear literally out of thin air is....impossible to say the least. Jeff Tarbell You should watch his UA-cam channel. On stage he's so classy but in real life he's a down to earth funny dork. He's really good but still goes around learning tricks and teaching them too.
Talent that surpasses the singers. I'm not denying that they have natural talent. They spend 2 hrs in a studio. This guy practices for HOURS perfecting his craft. Best act on the show. He should win hands down. Or in his case, magic hands down.
I've been a fan of David Blaine, Kris Angel, Dynamo for a long time and when I first saw Shin Lim on Penn and Teller I was blown away but this performance was a whole other level. The fact that he is live on stage at America's Got Talent with a close-up observer is proof there is absolutely no other tricks here but his own. No actors, no CGI, no camera cuts. If this is truly just an illusion then the cards are moving faster than the 30 frames per second the video can capture which is in of itself beyond incredible. But this performance makes me believe there is something more. I am a believer that true magic exists and I struggle to see how this is just a perfect illusion. Shin Lim is truly the most talented magician I have ever seen and love how humble he is off stage but carries such a presence on. Looking forward to seeing where the future takes him and how his level of magic improves over the years. Much love Shin!
Shin is like the others you've mentioned - committed to the craft of illusion, gimmicks, and skills so well presented - it definitely seems like actual magic. You're witnessing a man that recovered and rehabilitated from two severed thumb tendons on his left hand in 6 months, when he was given two years of recovery time by the doctors - all to continue his routines and magic career. He is truly amazing to watch with just a mere pack of cards.
It always was. Edgy 'street' magicians ruined 'card tricks' and destroyed the reputation of magic, with tv fakery. Lim has skills, but a lot of his stuff is super simple and straightforward. The atmosphere and presentation make it magic. I still think he never fooled P&T(maybe the second marker vanish fooled them), they just gave him a pass, because he was a really good look for card magic. In his first appearance, at least one trick, was out of a kid's magic set (card in bag), so I doubt that fooled them.
for those who know how the method works, he actually “throws” several things several times. It just doesn’t look that way. And no, I don’t mean tossing cards off the table
Me too, im kinda tired of this show cuz singers always seem to have the advantage (case in point as last season 8 out of the 9 golden buzzers were all singers and this season 6 out of the 7 so far have all been singers or singing groups) but when I saw shin was gonna be on It, I decided to watch this season then go back to not caring haha
@Nathan Dixon i agree. If they are such a good singer, compete against other singers in a singing competition. I don't mind kids or older singers though. This is only place where they can shine.
danny lim, I agree, but then we wouldn't get to see as many magic shows by him. He doesn't need the buzzer imo. I like this and the dance group that got the buzzer from the first episode the best.

That's the key. You could play this at whatever speed you wanted to he has perfected his art so it's not about your eyes not catching the move be perfectly places his moves so you simply can't see them. And he does so with style.
A proof of how humble he is: he said I practiced a lot this week. So he is openly calling his work tricks that could be practiced rather than special powers and magic. Other magicians wouldnt have said that
That's not a good way to look at it. The most arrogant magician that I've ever seen is Richard Turner, and he talks quite a bit about how he practices more than anyone else.
Shin Lim proves that the ones who reveil the magic tricks are not doing bad but good. The great ones like him always go further and come up with new abilities. Even if someone explains how this is done Shin Lim is so fast and talented.

And that was only half of his routine. It's called the 52 shades of red, if they were blown away by that then they will crap themselves because he saves his best stuff for the end. Hope he makes to the finals so he shows the dream act and freaking brings the building down.
Robert Gibby i personally prefer 52 shades over the dream act, probably because I have seen the dream act so many times and can now see what he does, 52 shades is still ... amazing ...I hope he does something new for the live shows ... albeit risky to try something new and unproven. 2:38 this beat and the vanish got me goosebumps inside my body
If you slow the video down by x25 and focus on his right hand... you'll notice that it takes you longer than 4:42 seconds to complete this video.
So much charisma from Shin Lim 👏🏻
My Favorite parts are when he winks at the camera knowing he’s killed it
0:39 the way he yeet the card was so dude perfect
Olivia how was it: “That, the, ahem, I don’t…It was amazing” :)
He’s sooo cute. He should win.
You so cute too.
You so cute too x2
Shin Lim is a Hottie
You so cute tree 😏
he has a girlfriend
And that was only half of his routine. It's called the 52 shades of red, if they were blown away by that then they will crap themselves because he saves his best stuff for the end. Hope he makes to the finals so he shows the dream act and freaking brings the building down.
Robert Gibby i personally prefer 52 shades over the dream act, probably because I have seen the dream act so many times and can now see what he does, 52 shades is still ... amazing ...I hope he does something new for the live shows ... albeit risky to try something new and unproven. Hey he did it for the first round 🤷🏻♂️
i know how 52 shades is done but not the dream act so i prefer to keep it like this :p
Robert Gibby is

Tasha Terrilyn Tania Tuwha
That wink got olivia munn opening her mouth wide as she just had her orgasm. Shin's fiance eyes are tearing cuz Olivia just eyed the f out of him at the end of performance.
Drake Draven LMAO
the cleanest magic ive ever seen im my life, unbelievable.. like i truly dont believe it. mind blown, gg.
If you go to 1:24, slow it down to x0.25 speed, and watch very carefully, you will see nothing! You will STILL be fooled!
Yea. That is my favorite part. I still can't figure out where the hell did that two cards come from. It just appear in his hands in an instant. Doesn't matter how slow you watch it. Mind blowing.
Music: *Oblivion* by *M83, Susanne Sundfør*

Shin is in the live show now. Gotta vote. If you want to see more of this magic, gotta vote. If you want to see singers sing, just turn on the radio.
