      At around 3m , you can see the back of the card are black like the board, he just turn them and they blend with board, you can see him draging his hand mutipletimes over the board to drag the cards back towards him. And if you look closely, sometimes you can see card outlines on the board (3:08)

    Shin Lim is probably the best card magician there is. I'm a magician myself. I think I know how about 60% of this is done, but the rest? I've been trying to figure out since he first appeared on TV and it's just impossible. I've taken a look at gimmicks, I examined everything frame by frame. Some of this stuff is just pure wizardry. I love it

    • @EmilParkour
      @EmilParkour Рік тому +1

      Exactly, I saw all of the tricks, but I still think it was a fair fool. There are no physical evidence if you don't pry to far.
      The mat is ordinary and the table too, there are clearly no hatches or pockets in the mat or table-top, but he does have a secret.
      As long as that secret is kept there is no way to say exactly what method the secret uses. You can only figure out how the effect is done but not with exactly what means. What kind of forces are in play when it comes to tension, If you know what I'm saying ;)
      Some of the tricks are really just sleight of hand though and some of them are tricks that every card magician knows. But they are close to perfection, so it really doesn't matter if you know.

For example: at the end they skipped the attention to the crowd, instead of letting the attention on Shin finnishing the routine (4:59 to 5:00 there you have a cut). But, I insist: the editing WAS NOT A PART OF THE ACT.

      Simply Genius actually its the whole opposite to me. Most of the stuff he did was even openly thought by Shin himself and the only thing i don't know is how he's always doing those deck switches. I'm actually disappointed in both Shin and P&T because first, you can actually buy his explanation of 52 shades of red which includes most of his performance and it's not so clever to go to fool us with a routine where the majority of the effects are known to everyone who wants to spend a bit of money. And i'm disappointed in P&T because they didn't even try to figure out how he switched decks (this is the only unexplainable part for me because i know the rest if it for sure). Normally they would ask him questions if he used black magic or Teller would go up to him and show him his idea on his sketchbook but Penn just looked behind the table and gave Shin the Price.
      Not that I disrespect anyone of them, they all are great magicians and i really admire their skill and creativity, but with Penn and Tellers knowledge -which is far greater then mine- they should not've been fooled.

    He obviously discovered a glitch in the matrix and is now exploiting it. He should be banned for being a hacker.

      It's simple, he does use actual sleight of hand to make cards appear and disappear, but he hacks the texture files of the cards to change the color of their backs and fronts.
      At least that's what I believe.

      I think only bottom card is three of diamonds, rest is "You fooled us". Much simpler to accomplish to a seasoned magician that might avoid a force, hence the showing of only bottom card instead of "all are different".

      I learnt that this show is bullshit, on nearly every camera cut the length of his right sleeve changes

    • @MoonShadeOsu
      @MoonShadeOsu 6 років тому +5

      Wait, wtf? You're right. Did they cut it in a different order or what happened there? Did they leave out parts? Weird...
      Look at the cut at 3:23 I mean wow what is that, his right sleeve was at his elbow and is suddenly at the level of his wrist. Then the next cut it's back at the level of his elbow. What? Then he shows the cards to the audience. Cut. Sleeve back to wrist-level. Did he change the cards and they just cut it out?

    He didnt actually sever his tendants. He had an operation done to his hands so he could store a whole deck inside his hand. The whole accident was a misdirection of the true purpose of the operation.

      Penn and Teller are very experienced professional magicians. When it comes to magic tricks, all it takes is knowing the category of the trick: card tricks, dice, etc for Teller to pretty much know what techniques are applied and how the trick is done. There no need to "try." They will either know how its done or won't. Only amateurs will guess. And only the inexperienced will try. Probably, they know how a trick is done 10 seconds into the magician doing it. And if they don't know by then, there's no point wasting time.

    I love coming back to this video it never gets old. The magic is amazing but the act really pushes it over the top with how deliberate every motion is. There is no obvious pivot to talk about something unrelated that is intended to distract like is sometimes common in magic. Your performance is silent but it really speaks volumes.
