What other Rock Band could sit on stools at the front of the stage, in the middle of a concert, and play an acoustic set that mesmerizes the audience like that? You get to hear the purity of Robert’s voice, JPJ’s incredible musicianship on the mandolin, and Jimmy loving his time of playing his six string acoustic guitar. This is one of the reasons Led Zeppelin was so far ahead of the others, why the were and still are the greatest Rock/Blues band of all time.

Love the acoustic performances. I especially love watching Page groove on an acoustic. Bonham's back there somewhere, probably having a smoke. lol Another song I think you'd enjoy from that set is "Bron-Y-Aur Stomp", Bonham did participate in that one. It's really a fun one to watch!
    Thanks for another great reaction!

It's exhilarating to watch them live because you know they're singing and playing with no enhancements, autotune, computers, etc. How fortunate are we to witness such magick? If you notice (they show them briefly at the end) Jonesy is playing bass pedals set on the floor in front of him. He would come to truly love the mandolin and many, many years later, go to various musical workshops around the globe to play and hone his craft. You can always see Jimmy begin to go into a zone when he closes his eyes and lets the guitar do all the talking. I'm glad the song has improved in your estimation.

The acoustic set came after Bonzos solo Moby Dick.. so the 3 get there 20 minute break then, and Bonzo gets a break during this set

The band filmed a bunch their performances but Jimmy has them locked away in his vault. It's a miracle that they released this DVD. He hasn't released any other concerts due to the quality not being up to his standards. In terms of video, audio, and the actual performances.

Definitely do Bron-Y-Aur Stomp. You get to see and hear Bonham sing with Plant. He usually sang back up live. Love have you take your time.

Coffee? Sure, that's the ticket. Love their acoustic sets. Sometimes Bonzo is on a stool next to them providing percussion.

The other night I watched a 5 hour video of their different concerts, playing a lot of their songs. There was one set of these acoustic songs, Bonham played the tambourine in one song, all 4 sat on the stage together. I loved it, but poor Bonham looked so uncomfortable, like missing his drums. It was a really great video, I think someone seamlessly edited each song but played at different concerts. Yes it’s great seeing the live performances, most of the quality is really good for back then. Hell today we still have grainy security camera footage, I know they hired people to shoot all the footage.

@@ToMitoReacts1017 yes it is amazing, they must have had some real professionals, with the best equipment. We are so lucky they did, otherwise many of us would really be missing out. Next best thing to being there, but I’d prefer being there.

So back in the day when the video collection came out for DVD, there are clips of the band talking about how the original tapes were converted to video which involved baking them. Not all the video was able to convert over and that is why there is mix of poor quality and crisp. I don't remember the entire story but that was how the video was restored. I believe Jimmy Page controlled the audio, he didn't trust the masters to anyone.

Well…you hit a nerve, so I’ve got to say something. I was in college when this came out, and I can say unequivalently that this song was definitely NOT “ahead of its time”. It was absolutely a part OF its time….right in the folk rock movement that was at its peak from 1965 or so to 1975 or so.
I’m sure youve heard more modern songs in this genre and so this might appear to be “ahead” of its time. But actually it just means that these bands are the OG’s and later artists have been influenced by them. Newer music is build on the shoulders of older music.
Sorry, that comment is a pet peeve of mine with younger reactors.

"Ahead of its time" from my perspective and im sure for a lot of people my age is our way of saying "oh shit this could come out today and not sound dated..(a lot of music back then and even today sound dated) oh wow! there were people doing this before xyz" you know what i mean? its not like im saying oh wow this sounds like it doesnt belong to the times it came out in, lol and you gotta expect people my age to say that because the average person my age hasn't heard where these artists got their influence from .. anyway i hope that clears it up and i hope you understand my perspective, at the end of the day music is all subjective

@@ToMitoReacts1017 I do understand. You described it quite well. I get it. Like I said…that just hit a nerve. I guess, if I’m honest, my react that way because it almost seems like a younger person is saying that they’re astonished that “old” music could be that good….or so well produced etc etc.
I appreciate you taking the time to explain your perspective. I won’t be so quick to judge going forward. Thanks! 😊

@@helenespaulding7562 its okay! at the end of the day music is a beautiful thing that brings us all together and we can agree to disagree , everyone has their own unique perspective , but yea i feel like people my age who use that expression are using it to describe how well a song has aged and sounds as if it would were to come out today and still top charts
