What do we think then? A lifetime ban or is it harsh? For me it is lifetime IF he has a track record of doing this before, if he does not then maybe a month.
I think its fair for him to get a lifetime ban , cause a month is nothing, he probably wont play for a month happily with how annoyed he seemed. But a lifetime ban will make sure he can't do it again in other lobbies.
I would say a few months or a year or two depending on past actions. Lifetime is maybe a bit harsh. Some people turn into completely different people over time. The thing Iracing should be taking into account though is because of the price that they charge people to race they should be policing these types of actions with some type of punishment policy for sure. Maybe lock the persons account until they pay a $100 or maybe more even. You have to get peoples attention or it will never end.
I'm so surprised you managed to avoid that, when I saw on the mini-map that one car has stopped in turn 1 I knew it's gonna get nasty. Shame other cars got collected by this guy.
Imagine paying for a service, putting the time in to get your license to a point where you can actually even compete in this race, and then still do this. Yikes.
You mean like real life all the time and money you put into building a name and career for yourself and the get caught up in a situation like this where a driver let his emotions get the best of him and Innocent ppl get caught up in a mess. You don't see those drivers getting a permanent ban from real racing. Although I dont agree with this fool and how he handled himself. A permanent ban just isn't the answer.
I agree, perm ban. If you did this on any race track in the world, they would never have you back. You would absolutely get blacklisted so what are you even talking about. In real life that could cost lives and being that iracing is a simulator, simulate that fool the realistic consequences. End if story
What gets me about this is how it ruins people's time. I don't have much time for racing (kids, work, etc) and of course shit happens in racing, but this kind of deliberate action is just unconscionable.
We don't pay for the most expensive racing sim in the world, to share the space with the like of this article. You know who this guy is, IRacing may not tell you directly he's banned but you can see from his activity if you follow him/her if there still racing. I presume you are sending all the clips you can to them... Please keep this story up dated.
I would imagine knowing iRacing, if this was his first incident like this he will probably receive a warning that this is not acceptable behavior. IRacing is a business, and they don't want to just ban people for their first incident. If it is his first they will probably try to coach him, if he has done something like this before, then he will be gone, at least for a few weeks.
Damn I was in this race (red and white bastos BMW) this dude gave me 8x total and ruined my race but I had no clue that he just sat at T1 like that, would have reported if I saw it.
If he has no other successful protests against him a lifetime ban might not be on the table, knowing iRacing. Other than that he needs the biggest punishment available. Maybe have him handwrite "I will not be a bellend" a thousand times and send it in. Personally I would permaban him, even if he is a paying customer. People like that have no place in a community of people that want to simulate racing with a degree of seriousness. If they do this again and again they might encourage other players to stop racing because of the mayhem and that might hurt iRacing in the long run.
I'd hazard a guess and say he'll get a 3 month or so ban, normally a lifetime ban is for a repeated offense, so if he does it again it's a perma ban, but then saying that I had someone reverse back on track when doing a GT3 race last year, protested the guy and he got a 1 month ban
I love sim racing since you can be a road racer without having to spend thousands of dollars on car repairs or medical claims when you get in incidents But then you get Darwin Award Winners like this that just cannot control their tempers and ruin everyone else's fun. If you wouldn't do it in real life DON'T DO IT IN SIM RACING
they shouldn't be allowed to lifetime ban you without a 100% refund of every penny you've spent. better to have a shit driver lobby for people who act badly. like gta5 online has. iracing isn't cheap.
We had a similar thing with our ACC community races. He also made out he was part of Sim Racing GP and was going to get us all banned because of our driving lol. Turns out it was nothing to do with simracing-gp and also not even part of the eSports team he made out he was driving for.
