I’m pretty sure if you look up the exact code it’s only signaling that faster cars are approaching, but everyone knows in the maintenance of sportsmanship, you don’t ruin somebody’s else race by fighting for position when you’re down multiple laps. That’s what I meant by even rookie drivers adhere to that basic rule of thumb

    • @AndreaP76
      @AndreaP76 Рік тому +1

@@Thee_Snow_Wolf Blue flag means you're being lapped. You don't HAVE to let the faster car pass. In F1 and other series with fast races is usually done out of sportmanship and/or your own advantage (the faster guy will overtake you anyway, so there's no reason to lose time with him, but focus on your race and the opponent you're currently fighting with). In endurance races you usually let them pass if you're alone, but since there are multiple classes of both drivers and/or cars, it's up to the leaders to choose when to overtake, since there will always be slower drivers/cars battling each other for position in their respective class. You can't ask them to give up just to let you pass. They will if possible, but if there's for example a huge battle between, let's say GT cars, a prototype car will have to choose carefully how to overtake.

My jaw dropped a bit showing that lap car blocking and then wrecking out another competitor. To certain extent I think iRacing should acknowledge and punish with more then meaningless bands, but yelling at iRacing to do something doesn't fix the issue of bad sportsmanship at its core. We the community need to also take action to self police this bullshit the best we can, making it public like this video does amazingly, writing complaints to their sponsors, and event holders black listing these drivers from participating in future events (iracing or non-iracing related alike). I think that last one would be a huge one that would carry some weight I think (if the community holds these event holders accountable to do so that is!).

As someone who exists outside of the simracing community but still has interest in it, my view on the whole thing is as follows:
    Quali scandal:
Spetz clearly went against publicly known rules that sadly have no in game enforcement. The correct way of dealing with this issue should've been, as Button mentioned, deletion of the time set using the unfair advantage. Seeing as this event didn't have stewards, this didn't happen and it is a flaw of the game for not having any enforcement of said rule within the sporting code. Is the ban justified? I'm not the right person to judge on that, so I will hold my peace on that.
    Teammate blocking:
Using a teammate (lap down or not) to gain advantages in the form of slipstream is all fine by me. Using them to actively block while on the same lap is okay, depending on the severity of the blocking. Anything beyond that is worthy of a black flag/DSQ for the teammate. What was shown in the video was way beyond even DSQ and worthy of race bans.
Not only were they not on the same lap, they actively tried to put the car in a position to make it happen. That in it self is basically equivalent to match-fixing in any other sport. That is worthy of a permanent ban from competition for the whole team with similar bans to those individually involved. Those driving the lead car may or may not have been part/aware of the plans, so that would need some investigation to figure out if they deserve the individual permanent ban or not.
All in all, this has put simracing in a bad light once again. I'm not sure what to think about the Button involvement though. It's impossible to tell for me if he knew exactly what had transpired. If he had full knowledge of both incidents, he is definitely talking as a Williams representitive. If he had no knowledge about the second part I mentioned, he may have been talking from his own experience based on real life racing. That is not entirely comparable though, which puts him in a bad spot as well.
I hope this whole ordeal gets properly dealt with. For the sake of iRacing and for the sake of Sim racing as a whole

With videos like this and with the community engaged is how we can at least try to make positive changes. Really glad this video blew up and found it in my recommendations tab and I find your youtube videos really good, maybe you're not a conventional "youtuber" but for sure you know how to make a good video that will keep people watching.

Full respect Pablo for releasing this video. You've got the heart and the courage to do the right thing.
Why not ban the whole Williams brand from racing in iRacing forever? Those drivers did this on command of the team manager(s).
But you know what, iRacing will not clash with Williams, that's for sure. It's only a 3 day wonder in their perspective.

Great video, such a shame that a pro team would even consider allowing this to happen. But having no live stewards for a top split race baffles me, really hope it gets addressed and dealt with accordingly and make sure something like this doesn't happen again.

I Racing need to step up and raise the game - people will break any rules not upheld by the organisers and I’m sure some are put under pressure to do it. Thanks Pablo , good job man

Great video, thanks for putting this together. This is a shock to see. I know that it's competitive obviously, but when the other teams spend months practicing and following the rules, this makes this a joke. iRacing NEED to be proactive with sorting this mess out for the integrity of future special events.

Pablo I love your streams and I really like the content you provide. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO, we need to expose this to the public as iRacing cannot keep making the same mistake, specially for big events and now that there can be opportunities for iRacing to have more of them (given the fiasco with rFactor 2 and the Le Mans event). Keep it up Pablo TRIPLE CAUTION STAY CENTER! 1luv from an Iberian to another.

I feel your pain! Thank you so much for putting together this video and pointing out the things that happened. I think it is very important to point out this issues, I am only afraid Williams and it's Sponors actually like the additional media coverage based on "there is no bad advertisement". For there is and especially all the people/driver/decision making people involved - shame on them. There is winning and winning, you win by cheating and doing stuff like that, and there is a Gentleman way to do things. This was not. Probably it is necessary to have additional rules in place for special events like this. Even without live racing commission (which should be in place at least for such top split), final, official race results could be corrected post race when there is good reason to do so...

No warning or whatever, this deserves a season ban for the drivers and whoever manufactured this disgraceful scummy behaviour. Iracing has to set a precedent and adequately punish to set an example.

Pablo, I've seen you in many highlight videos, most of the time raging about other drivers. First thought was, you are an funny, angry dude, but in fact, I think you got the heart on the right place and fight for fair, clean simracing as no other in streaming cosmos. this is a shame for an professional team and damages the image of simracing. Teams are preparing to this events weeks and months, and those eSport guys come in and do that kind of stuff to "keep their sponsors". well, then go away of simracing with the sponsors and let us do our passionated thing we all love so much.
thank you very much Pablo for sorting this situations over the daytona weekend, let's hope it will be better in the future. keep doing your thing, see you on track 👍

Iracing should introduce a steward system that allows users to steward. Users should have so sit a test type thing, and like irating, they should be judged by all the drivers in the session to determine how trustworthy they are.
Stewards could be randomly assigned sessions so they can’t cheat for their teammates.
    It’s an idea at least

This video was needed for simracing. Now we know our "hero".
Perfectly shows how Williams in iRacing goes DOWN. I see qualy and blocking on stream, but found new here about towing teammate and, WTF????, crashing competitor for their teammates. What is wrong with people...
Button is terrible to trying to say that everything is fine.
p.s. i hope they all be banned for long time, all this 3 teams. I don't have personally hate for anyone, but summary, it is look disgracefull.
