First time I heard this was on a 3rd season episode of “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman”, in 1996. A friend thought it was just a made-up song for the few moments in the episode it played. A funny song with non-sensical lyrics for an amusing and ridiculous scene. Nope. I remember the first time I gave him a CD with the song on it at a dance club where he was the house DJ. I told him to trust me and put it on. After much arguing and assurance from me, because he was afraid whatever it was would get him fired, he put it on in the club. And as soon as he heard the, “heyba, heyba, hooba, habba, heyba” blasting out into the club, he literally fell down, then out of the DJ booth laughing. He couldn’t believe it was a real song. Since that night in 1996, this song will occasionally come up and give us both great joy!
Got HBO MAX just to watch Lois and Clark in HD, got to this episode and they replaced this song with something else...so disappointed ! ( got to go back to dvd for this episode)
@@hellskitchen10036 true, i just went to check the S3.e19 and the audio was replaced in hbo max version, thankfully i have an old version of the show and i can confirm your info :))
My late wife was way into Lois and Clark... and she played that episode. And as soon as I heard it I went down the Rabbit hole to find out WHO AND WHAT... Google song search was useless, so it was manual searching... she was surprised it was a cook song. We were both recording artists. She wanted to try it. We would have probably been the first to cover it.
My dad either heard this first on WPRB or WHTG (I'm almost certain it was WPRB) and he bequeathed his knowledge of it unto me a few years back. Great stuff!
@perrygoldman same - 'PRB saved my life back then. best thing (almost about growing up in Bucks County. was just listening to a podcast interview with David Pajo and decided to take a deep dive on some Louisville stuff and came across this piece of musical gold - having absolute flashbacks now about all the great bands featured on Princeton college radio. who was that awesome prime time-ish DJ that pushed all that great early / mid 90's indie stuff - quite a few local bands like Zen Guerrilla and Bardo Pond among others.
I believe most of the people that have come here are because of Fallon. I love that the poster wrote, "The elusive track that never seems to make it into UA-cam." As if people are clamoring for it.
Lol I love the fact this song is getting more noticeability than it probably got when it first launched and the years it surfaced on UA-cam lol thanks Jimmy Fallon
Thank you so much uploader and commenters, I heard this on Lois and Clark over 25 years ago and it has been stuck in my head confusing me ever since. I'd completely forgotten what show I heard it on (or that I ever saw Lois and Clark). Seeing that scene again and hearing the full version has been a trip
@@lorddavinci5468 ironically it was on the DVD version of “Oedipus Wrecks” but I watched it recently on Hulu or HBO Max and they replaced it with just generic music 🙄
And people don't know that some of the dudes behind this project are legit legends that really changed and profoundly shaped the path of rock music in the late 80s early 90s
Jimmy invites viewers to email suggestions for the bit to the Tonight Show. The first time he did this must have been him, his writers, and the Roots crate-digging through their own collections.
@@skierpage I remember commenting on the clip from the show when it was still up on their UA-cam channel about appreciating the song getting recognition. I got a reply from one of the writers of the show some hours later saying that he was the one who had shown it to Jimmy and that there was no way it couldn't be included in the segment at that point.
This is cool. Definitely listen to Slint, if you haven't. It's the bassist's previous band and one of the most important in the history of underground rock.
I keep trying to find a band called King Kong who played music like Danzig, Misfits, Doors, or that Austin blues/rock band.... this band's music sounds like theirs, but the singer had that "alpha" sound.
Hey Jimmy, You brought me here, but sorry to tell you, everyone do mistakes. Despite you passed it as do not play, actually i put it on my must play. There is something about it, specially the 1st half.... #JimmyFallon
It is certainly infectious. Agree with your comment about the "first half." If they had edited this down to about 3 minutes it would have been near perfect. But sounds like they got ripped and were just jammin', so, fair enough. "Old man standing all alone, gimme some pot and get me stoned." 😂
Jimmy Fallon sent me here.
This song is the best of the ones featured on his show.
My name is Heba. This is the best thing I’ve ever heard.
So glad you found it!
Me too!!
You must name your child after you, middle name Hooba Haba.

Ten Long Years. Nothing grooves as hard as that.
Good to see that Mushmouth found work after his years on the Fat Albert show.
Heybe alba berbert!
The Dulcimerists shall be the name of your band.

Guilty. I was searching to see what song 'they originally used in syndication.' Assuming this was some royalty filler for the dvd release.

It blows my mind that he quit Slint and put this out the same year as Spiderland.

They used it in The New Adventures of Lois in Clark in like 1993.
