Some extra features, comments. 1) When in food processor mode you can adjust the speed from 'Auto' to slower. When proving bread, I remove the blade and cover the whole with foil - I also spray this and the bowl with canola spray. Another feature when comparing with other brands is the fact that the magimix uses induction heating and is accurate to 1º increments - this may be important for sous vide.
I did brown sauce in mine recently. Threw the ingredients in and put it on the cream soup setting and extended it to 45 minutes. It turned out perfectly!
Ooh nice tip! That's really clever. And doing your own brown sauce from scratch is really smart, probably sooo much better than ready made. I'm totally going to do this! Thank you!
@@TheFromScratchBody it is a million times better! I had bought one to try after seeing a recipe for it that was done on the hob and needed to be simmered and watched and checked on periodically. That doesn’t work well in my house as I end up going up and down the stairs too many times, exhausting myself (I have CFS/ME) and hurting my arthritic knee. The bought one was awful. Absolutely vile. I actually ended up throwing it out and I really hate wasting food! Then I thought about using the CE and decided to give it a try as the recipe looked like it would be great and it was! So fruity! The right amount of vinegar, not overwhelming like the bought one. It’s just lovely! I actually have bought more apples to make another batch as I’m nearly through the first one! The only part of the whole process that was a bit difficult was that I water bath canned the jars after I filled them and I haven’t yet found the right size pot to do that so I had water spillage, but the recipe itself was insanely easy. There’s actually probably enough vinegar in there to do the flip it upside down to get it to seal rather than canning it. I wanted to be extra careful as I used erythritol rather than sugar and wasn’t sure if the sugar was partly there to preserve it. Maybe I’ll try flipping it for the next batch. Even if I stick with canning it, it’s going to be a staple in my house now. I’ll happily use that instead of bbq sauce. One more thing made from scratch!
Have just purchased the CE and learning about it is certainly fun. Great to find your channel and hopefully you will be doing more on the CE capabilities. I am thrilled to have just made a large batch of Mulberry jam (first harvest from our tree planted 18 months ago). Very easy process and so easy to clean up afterwards. Enjoyed your demonstration. I had the Sage Fast Slow Pro 6L Slow Cooker and later added the Magimix 5200XL. The combination works very well and competes with the Expert. I look forward to some ideas from your use of the Expert.
Hi John, thank you so much for the comment, glad you enjoyed it! Oh, I have never tried the Sage, but it looks great! @@TheFromScratchBody I actually also got the Magimic Gelato Expert ICM. Seems that TCE covers icecream too. Which would mean that one mc for about £1,100 would have equated to 3 mc at about £1,100 Saving of space too. Does the Cook Expert have a Gelato setting?
@@reedygypandme It doesn't have a specific gelato setting, no - unsure exactly how the Gelato Expert works, it looks awesome - but there's a chance you'd be able to achieve something fairly similar in the CE. But that's just my guess, without any experience with the Gelato Expert.
Great demo! I was wondering if this would also fully replace a standmixer? Since it does kneading, mixing and whipping. Or would a standmixer still be better for these tasks? We have limited counter space so having an all-in-one option would be amazing.
Thank you so much for watching and for the comment! In my opinion- yes, it can definitely replace a standmixer. I don’t have one and never miss it. If anyone in the comments disagrees, please do share your opinion of course! But I can’t really think of anything a standmixer does that the CE couldn’t do.
Re the stuff spilling into the midi bowl when using the mini bowl: you don’t need to have the midi bowl in place when using the mini bowl. Just take it out. For the quantity of food you were processing I would go straight to the main bowl for processing it. The main bowl will finely chop the tiniest quantity eg one chilli and would be ideal for your recipe demo’d here. Thanks for reviewing this great machine.
Hi, thanks for your comment! Yes I mention this in my review of the 4200xl which you can find on my channel; I mainly use the large bowl as it blends the best. Several people have commented that you can take out the midi bowl when using the small; however this doesn’t take care of the spill issue, it then just spills in to the large bowl (more, I find, for some reason!) instead of into the midi… not a huge issue but still something for them to improve!
Hi Delphine, so would I!!! If anyone has tried both, do let us know! And Delphine, if Kenwood send me a Cooking Chef I will be sure to test that as comprehensively 😂
Okay challenge! Christmas on its way. How would go about roast beef, roast pots, yorkshire, bread sauce, onion gravy, and sprouts? I didnt say turkey. That might be too big?
Thank you for the demonstration, it was very informative. It seems like there are many functions and very practical machine. Is it possible to use the Cook expert as a sous vide?
Yes, you can sous vide cook in the metal bowl. The temp control is in 1C increments and there is room for maybe three steaks. I’ve cooked two at a time with great success
Thank you for your comment Miriana, so glad you enjoyed the demo! Love that Spender37 has replied below that sous vide can work - such a good question from you and now I can't wait to try it myself :)
I wish they made a non glass top for this. So much easier to wash up. All I want from the thing is: work as a food processor, proof dough or accelerate fermentation and keep emulsions sauces stable, maybe reducing. How long could you reduce a sauce at like 90C in there before it shuts down? Can this be used for sous-vide, is it acurate enough?
Hi, thanks for great questions! It won’t really shut down as you can set any time and temperature you want (and change it as you go). A few people have asked about sous vide and I still haven’t tried it! I will do and let you know!
Does it able to do thing like a hand mixer? If i need it for a baking need? I want to buy this machine. I just do not know if can do like say a kitchenaid mixer.
It can replace a lot of the work you'd do with a hand mixer - granted I do have a hand mixer as well, but I don't use it very often... What kind of things are you thinking of using it for especially?
Hi, this was a great demonstration. Thank you for taking the time to do it. I already have a fairly new Magimix, the 5200XL, and I have been pining for a soup maker too for sometime, but I don’t have the sufficient worktop space for it. Swapping my existing Magimix for this one would solve that problem, as the chopping bowls could be kept in a cupboard instead. This gadget just blew my mind. If I decided to get one, I would have to sell my existing Magimix, but my concern is also the space. Do you know if the base I’d much bigger than the base of the 5200XL? And with the pot on it, how much would it stick out from the dimensions of the 5200XL? Many thanks. I am considering this now.
Hi Tere, thank you so much for watching and I am glad it was helpful for you! I had a 4200XL which I sold when I got this (you may have seen my videos on that one too!), and to be honest I don't really find it takes up much more space on the counter top. The base is slightly bigger than the 4200XL, so maybe more like the base you have now (perhaps a tad deeper, but not very noticeable). I basically keep my CE in exactly the same place I had my 4200XL and it hasn't really made it any more crowded. If you have the extra cupboard space for the plastic bowls, I think this would be a good swap for you, personally. Let me know what you decide on doing! Liv x
