Steam in the Dart Valley: GWR 5526 & 1369 on the South Devon Railway - August 2023.

The 7th & 8th of August saw me focus my endeavours around the South Devon Railway, making several trips to the lineside for filming as well as a proper visit to the SDR in order to travel on the line, which runs for 7 miles between Buckfastleigh & Totnes Riverside, much of the route running alongside the River Dart. The locomotive initially rostered during this period was GWR 4575 'Small Prairie' 2-6-2T No. 5526, though the day of travel (8th August) had quite a surprise in store as, instead of the typical DMU diagram, GWR 1366 0-6-0PT No. 1369 was brought into steam & put to work hauling a shorter 'local' set. This video features both locos at a variety of locations within the Dart Valley, with plenty of whistles & some cracking performances to boot!
