When you forget about an awesome band for years and then suddenly the name comes to mind.
Haha, this is excactely what happened to me a few hours ago...how tf could i have forgotten this band for so long and why and when did they disappeared from my radar? However.....Luckily my brain reminded me of Pelican today. Sometimes it seems to likes me😬

When you never heard of Pelican before and out of nowhere... DEAD BETWEEN THE WALLS... if I came to this show and was on the fence to stay.. it was that first rift that would keep my feet glued to the floor. Amazing
The live performance of 'The Creeper' is epic! You can even hear people recognized it in the crowd.
This is one the greatest live shows I've heard. ANd I"m pretty old these days.Outstanding musicianship and performance! Much respect.

Metal, Post-Metal, however you define them, this is one of the greatest metal bands playing right now and their latest release is phenom.
Who ever does their lighting is doing a hell of a job....since these guys don't have a vocalist it's almost like the lights are filling in as the vocals....like they're telling a story.....

For me, it feels and sounds as if this is Melancholy, Anger, Sorrow, Hope, Sadness, Courage, Fear and Love- perfectly expressed in sound/translated into music.
I find this performance exciting and touching. Sometimes it came to my mind that it is almost exhausting to listen to (in a good way) because this set is constantly awesome and doesn't let up for a second in being thrilling. What a ride, wow!

I've seen videos by all sorts of awesome bands and artists (including classical and jazz) that have literally just a few hundred or maybe a thousand views or so...and the video has been up for months or even years.

Seems like Pelican always has a weak drummer. Watched a Russian Circles vid and their drummer is clearly much better.

I somewhat agree. I love Pelican's sound, but the drums have always seemed a bit odd to me. But, now that I've listened to the band for several years, the drums have a place in their overall sound. Not sure if this was purposeful, or just the way it came to be? Anyway, he is a good drummer. When I listen to Pelican I just expect that style of drumming. It is a bit understated, and it works within the overall context. I've always wanted the drums to be bigger, fuller sounding. But perhaps that would take away from the vibe Pelican striving for? There are so many "show-off" drummers in metal music, what with their triplets, fallams, double kick pummeling, heavy handed hitting. It is kind of refreshing in a way to hear Pelican and realize a different style of drumming is driving the machine. Just a thought.

No vocals? What? Listening to guitars strumming is not very exciting. Not even any lead guitar. Maybe they don't have the ability to play solos or improvise. Talent makes a band and they just don't have any. I hear some sort of solo but it sounds like someone who has just picked up the guitar for giggles.
