Everything she does is amazing! Even her falls! Ohmygosh! I SO want to meet her one day! Goodness, Sasha, great height, and distance on jumps, like, 20 revolution spins! Best skater that has ever been!
Agree with you. I can't believe how so many are tearing apart Michelle Kwan. Beauty is not enough gotta be mentally tough under pressure to become a champ & to remain a champ.
Being remembered is more important to most athletes who love the sport and she won't be forgotten if you do it just to win you clearly dont care about the sport.
Stunning, stunning, stunning! This program is so beautiful that it makes me tear up esp. right before the spiral sequence. Sasha Cohen will always be unforgettable.
Michelle has delivered some amazingly beautiful programs over the years. To hate her is ridiculous. I do think there are valid critiques of some of her programs (and some of the judging). That being said, Michelle was a brilliant competitor and more often than not she delivered when it mattered. Sadly, the same could not be said for Sasha. I still love her and think she is one of the most beautiful skaters to ever grace the sport. How I miss her!
You can watch this and tell that she was in great shape and well trained. it's just like she was trying to squeeze something she should have just held. It truly is a shame though because she was the class act of this event. she should have won here... as in she had what it took to do so. IMO, her body began to let her down after this season.
By the way, I happen to think Sasha is a gorgeous skater, but she should have never pursued a competitive career. She was known for blowing it at all the big stressful events. She is at her very best when she's doing a tour or exhibition because there's no pressure to succeed or win. She can relax and do her thing :) Not everyone is cut out for competition. Part of what made Kwan so brilliant was her ability to deliver her absolute best and blow it out of the water when the pressure was on.
Ah Sasha, our lovely lovely Sasha.....Torino's Silver Belle....people, NEVER FORGET that Sasha put on skates, on her feet (not heart), and tried to EARN a spot on the 2010 Olympic Team for the USA. So what she didn't earn a spot....she TRIED!~ Sasha, too, had a dream and pursued it honestly, with integrity, with courage, fire, true sportsmanship, and not at the expense of the sport, the Olympic Creed, or any other skater with the same dream!!! She ALSO EARNED A SPOT FOR THE USA HERE.didn't she?
If Cohen could've skated two flawless clean programs without sketchy jumps in a row at World's, she would have won golds, just like Kwan. Especially in 2006 the judges were really favouring Cohen. She had the 2006 Olympic and World's Golds in the palms of her hands and she dropped them. Cohen *could* have been an all round better skater than Kwan or anyone, if she could have skated clean when it mattered. She couldn't so she wasn't.
Aside of the hysterical blindness of some delusional spammers, I almost forgot to watch entirely this video. What a beauty. Classical Figure skating at its best.
WOW. You guys can be bitchy about two of the best ladies skaters ever to come out of the USA in the past 20 years. I liked BOTH Sasha Cohen AND Michelle Kwan (Slutskya too). They each brought something different to skating and left their mark. I think many people WANTED Sasha to win, she certainly had it all, but I can't remember one World's where she actually skated two programs together cleanly. If she had she would have won, and probably won 2006 Olympics too. But she sadly didn't.
I love love love Sasha! I'm so glad Upper Deck included her in their 2010 World of Sports set. It's a set that includes athletes from a variety of sports, including skating. They also made Weir and Czisny and others. Sasha is card #223. Get yours, Sasha fans! Mine are NOT for sale!!
Lizzy, They thought it was a link for a spam address. That is why it was marked as spam. If you have given it a complete description, then it would not been marked as spam
Sasha Cohen absolutely deserved to beat Michelle Kwan here and by a lot that's for sure! But don't make it sound as though CoP killed Kwan, it was actually her health. Michelle skated substandard here due to a deteriorating body not due to a new system. Of course Sasha is better under CoP but had CoP come 10 years earlier Michelle still would have thrived. It's arrival was at the end of her career by coincidence
@MissThingSings But wouldn't anyone cave under that massive amount of pressure? The crowd, the expectations of her, not wanting to disappoint her coach and fans etc? That's what happens to us when we are under pressure.
I agree...Sasha may have fallen but she took huge risks, constantly improved and challenged herself, gave everything she had no matter what...some skaters don't fall very often but then again some skaters play it very very safe and conservatively....not Sasha, ever!! Snowballwannabe put it so well...Classical Figure Skating at its best....thank you for sharing yourself with us Torino's Siver Belle)-:)
@Britney13Fan Oh yes you will and you can compete internationally like that in Adults category. But the competitions are not like Olympics and stuff, the highest competitins in that category is Worlds I think.
ice skating is about being an artist in ice, and if some women don´t know that it is sad. it has nothing to do with the mechanical moves of creativeless michelle kwan...sasha cohen was and is the biggest artist ever in ice. period.
Ok... interesting could possibly agree with SLC Bronze (not sure about Nats I will look at the routines again). But, are you saying then, Kwan deserved all five World Golds?
If only i could skate as good as her. She is the most beautiful skater i've ever seen. Is she skating this season? PS: It's either FS(free skate) or LP(long program) not FP. I'm never seen it abbreviated like that before. I have heard some people call it a free program but i've never seen anyone abbreviate it like that.
@Britney13Fan LOL no offense but wluu1 is completely incorrect. Physically, it is realistic for you to expect to get consistent double jumps (except the axel), probably not triples. Unless you have extraordinary flexibility and core strength, I doubt you'll go beyond basic scratch, sit, and camel spins, but you'll still be able to do quite a bit of neat stuff. Good luck!
The reason why people tend to mention Michelle Kwan more is because she was in competition when Sasha started competing. There is a difference when it has to do with having experiences acquired through years of training and competing. This is NOT about who is better than another figure skater. It is like saying that Nancy Kerrigan is better than Kristi Yamaguchi. Do you see my point?
You're right, skating isnt just about jumps....but you are required to land them...Sasha did not win titles because she crashed on the ice. Way too much. Sorry, but you cannot fall down as much as she did and still be in the running. So, no matter how gorgeous the footwork or artistry, if you are falling several times in one program (as such did on many occasions in her LPs) you're not gonna win anything, and you will not be considered a legend or one of the greats. Just the way it is.
Cohen gets no speed on her crossovers and she often touches down on her jumps because she can't hold the landing. Her opening Lutz combo is evidence of that.
Hey Miss Sings, what happend to the 2010 Nationals vid you, me and Ihaba were talking on? It seems the owner of that vid wiped all of the comments away. Are you able to post there?
lol, i never told anyone to do anything with their lives. Sasha Cohen was a beautiful skater, terrible competitor. This is fact. Events where no medals were at stake were her best. That tells you something.
We all know you dislike Kwan but Kwan skated clean FPs where it mattered and that still matters under CoP. Sasha's skating is gorgeous sure, but she didn't skate clean when it mattered so she didn't win. What Gold should Sasha have won at World's? (she was lucky to get Silver at 06 Olympics). Agreed, Kwan's default: play safe, mostly it worked and she worked the 6.0 system but you can't blame her for that. Her strategies didn't work at 98/02 Olympics, she didn't win. No bias.
Wow, so much fighting on this one video... why? Don't people go on youtube to enjoy watching videos? Doesn't fighting just totally defeat the purpose of that? I know her jump landing weren't that good every time but ice skating is HARD! not only is it hard but it puts a LOT of pressure on a person because everything has to 150% perfect and nobody is perfect. Cut her some slack? I know Michelle Kwan is AMAZING, but this is Sasha's video. Also, I like her dress:)
sasha may have fallen in competitions but she went for it and created art on ice. for me this is preferable to someone who doesnt fall and is perhaps not as good a skater who can win on points. janet lynn, perhaps the finest free skater of all time also fell at times while less talented skaters won. not falling does not make the better skater
it's not right to tell others what to do with their lives...if people want to pursue their dreams, take opportunities and take risks in life then they should...instead of playing it safe and not doing anything and in the end not making something happen...i'd rather say in the end at least i tried to live out my dreams & do what i want instead of regretting it in the end because i didn't do it & is left wondering what would've happened if i did...nonetheless she is still a beautiful skater...
i know this was not the best one -_- by the way, i love almost every figure skater because every one who is skating has talent. this was not the best i know, and about her fans being mean to michelle, that's mean! but i still love Sasha! :D
Um, Im not even that into Kwan. I'm a HUGE Kim fan. What's it to you? What "madness" are you talking about? You seem creepy...I love Sasha Cohen. Always have. She should have done ice shows. I noticed she NEVER fell and outskated every skater in history when she was exhibitioning. She had nerve problems in competition. Why does that bother you so much? Are you a relative of Sasha's or something?
Bravo, Sasha Cohen, Russia loves you (But not Sarah Hughes) you have a lot of fans here, we found you a good replacement (Julia Lipnitskaya) ---- so rest easy, you're already in the history of ...
ARTHUR VERSO Why not Sarah Hughes? She was a lovely skater. Focus on whom you like--don't make a point of declaring whom you don't like. Too much drama in skating as it is.
NYCBlonde Sarah was not good...hunched shoulders long arms with poor technique. Only reason she won the Olympics was because of the judging controversy week prior. She seems sweet though
NYCBlonde Sarah cheated a lot of her jumps, including most of her jumps at the Olympics. Even the first jump in her combos would often be underrotated. She was kind of a fluke who benefited from a lenient judging system that didn’t deduct points for cheated jumps or even look for them in the first place.
@@evanperilstein5308 At 2002 Olympics, Sarah did a good job never happened before to win and she was lucky, because the other better skaters like Michelle and Irina made mistakes.
Even clear people are colored too, not just the rest. Them are black, white, red, etc. By the way; woman looks better in pink than man. Somebody has always bothered me when I have taken a long sleeve pink shirt.
just saying she could have been unbeatable does not mean you're fair or correct honestly winning the grand prix final is harder then the world or olympic title in my opinion as you have to skate well in two competitions and then skate well enough in the third to win.
The way that Howsa is on like every Sasha vid posting racial slurs about Kwan and defending Sasha so much...it just seems like she knows Sasha. It wasn't meant to be anything personal about Sasha. I've just never seen anyone so nutty over someone they dont even know.
Irina 98 Worlds, 4th in SP so Gold didn't just depend on Kwan; Sarah '01 got Bronze, I thought her Technical mark was under marked but artistically, Kwan. '03 Sokolova: good program, great 3/3 (tho one wobbly combo) but lacked smart choreography . For me, though, none of those had the finesse of Kwan's artistry and her programs were always well choreographed. Kwan's weaknesses (eg. spin positions always balanced by transitions & super footwork sequences. Kwan's World's 96 00, 01 03 stand out
actually a lot of figure skaters does wave their arms to keep their body moving on ice...like trying to balance on a beam and her triple spins and landing are the key points in figure skating; i don't see why fans of other skaters criticize someone specific as if they aren't suppose to be skating; judges are fair and knows how to score a figure skater's performance and it's not like the figure skaters are hating Yuna but they actually acknowledge her abilities that even Pros can't pull off
As for your claims of alissa being more successful Alissa: nationals 2 golds, silver, bronze Grand-Prix Final 1 gold and 2 last places Worlds 15th, 11th, 5th, 22nd Sasha: nationals gold,4 silvers, bronze and pewter Grand-Prix Final 1 gold and 1 silver Worlds 2 4th, 1 bronze,2 silver She does better at worlds, her lowest being higher then Alissa's highest andhas 2 silver medals and a bronze she was consistent at world placings compared to Alissa i respect your opinion i just wanted to say that
She is not a relative of HowsaBowa, How could she be related to her? Why do you bring this up, just to insult her? Howsabowa is just a fan of Sasha. By all means she is not even related to her. However Howsabpwa is often finding excuses for her verbal tirade.
Sasha didnt dominate, true but again Mirai and Rachael Alissa's main competitors in no way compare to Michelle Kwan so Alissa had an easier time and Alissa has been much more of a nervous skate who chokes then Sasha.I do think though that the people who truly matter, figure skating fans will consider Sasha more successful then Alissa or Kimmie which is shown quite clearly by the amount of people who have said you were wrong. And honestly i think Sasha may agree with you but most people won't.
He's a believer in "american wonder" - it's when someone's nothing but gets the gold. It worked once, so nongrowing kids kept believing it may happen again.. sorry - it might happen again. No way, sorry for robber Cohen LOL
Irina skated like a bull in a china shop: wild with no real mastery of her edges and no beautiful positions. It was a shame the judges always awarded her for presentation scores that she didn't deserve.
Joshua Lerman I’m a huge Sasha fan, but Irina completely deserved her win here. She wasn’t graceful, but she skated fast and with exuberance and charisma. Her performance was very exciting. Plus, she didn’t make any mistakes, and it had more technical difficulty than Sasha’s. She did a clean 3Lz-3L, her jumps were huge, and some of her spins were just as difficult as Sasha’s (such as her change-foot biellmann). Sasha would have had to skate perfectly or very close to perfect (like maybe one two-foot landing or a minor step-out) to argue that she should have won here. Graceful skating, beautiful lines and extension, and superb artistry and interpretation can only take you so far. It is a sport, after all.

No more twitching and arm waving and wiggles and jiggles like jello on skates....no more goofy grin and leg in the air with said googy grin on face....thumbs downing and nose wrinkling her cutesy little nose at the judges...no more tantrums, pouting, no more golden gifts....no more kween without kweenex sniveling and whining.....

Despite some stumbles, she shared some dreamy moment with Moscow audiences, which I really love about this performance.

214.39? WOW! thats an absolutely AMAZING score! love you sasha!
that includes the qualifying round, which was done away with years ago. her SP + FP was a much lower total.

LOl i love that "illusion" she did out of her triple flip jump at 3:18

just saying she could have been unbeatable does not mean you're fair or correct honestly winning the grand prix final is harder then the world or olympic title in my opinion as you have to skate well in two competitions and then skate well enough in the third to win.
The way that Howsa is on like every Sasha vid posting racial slurs about Kwan and defending Sasha so much...it just seems like she knows Sasha. It wasn't meant to be anything personal about Sasha. I've just never seen anyone so nutty over someone they dont even know.
@MissThingSings I would like to see you do better out there. She's obviously a good skater if she got into the Worlds!!!
Kwan's World's 96 00, 01 03 stand out
Her World 2005 was definitely an improvement. But I think she should have stayed with Tarasova . Her earlier Worlds were filled with disappointment.
actually a lot of figure skaters does wave their arms to keep their body moving on ice...like trying to balance on a beam and her triple spins and landing are the key points in figure skating; i don't see why fans of other skaters criticize someone specific as if they aren't suppose to be skating; judges are fair and knows how to score a figure skater's performance and it's not like the figure skaters are hating Yuna but they actually acknowledge her abilities that even Pros can't pull off
As for your claims of alissa being more successful
Alissa: nationals 2 golds,silver,bronze Grand-Prix Final 1 gold and 2 last places
Worlds 15th, 11th, 5th, 22nd
Sasha: nationals gold,4 silvers, bronze and pewter Grand-Prix Final 1 gold and 1 silver
Worlds 2 4th, 1 bronze,2 silver
She does better at worlds, her lowest being higher then Alissa's highest andhas 2 silver medals and a bronze she was consistent at world placings compared to Alissa i respect your opinion i just wanted to say that
CoP in.....Kwan off podium. Sasha Silver medalist:)-:)
ok, i know you must land jumps to win major titels, let's say she's one of the best, ok?
Why are you on sashas videos if you hate her so much it makes zero sense????
So lovely. Irina Slutskaya (who won gold) was NOT better, taking all aspects of their programs into consideration.
are you blind? Irina was flawless and beautifully won 1st place

Ah, giraba como queria XD
LOL. Your comment is funnier than most.
Helloooooooo......Sasha WON THE SILVER IN TORINO AND BEAT THE KWAN HERE............HELLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOO...........CoP much??? No more twitching and arm waving and wiggles and jiggles like jello on skates....no more goofy grin and leg in the air with said googy grin on face....thumbs downing and nose wrinkling her cutesy little nose at the judges...no more tantrums, pouting, no more golden gifts....no more kween without kweenex sniveling and whining.....
First things first. I'm not a fanatic of anything nor anybody. That's an adjective that suits you better, since you seem very passionate yet disturbed about Sasha Cohen and make a thousand comments each day and start fights In Every Single Cohen's video posted on youtube. Maybe you're the delusional.
