Stunning, stunning, stunning! This program is so beautiful that it makes me tear up esp. right before the spiral sequence. Sasha Cohen will always be unforgettable.
This is one of her least inspired performances. Every movement looks "pretty" but what is she doing to interpret this particular piece of music?? I think Robyn Wagner was right, Sasha needed someone to "push" her and give her some fresher choreography.
was it true she didn't practice enough. This seems to be creeping out in the last few years. but never heard about when she was eligible. Whereas Bobek's laziness was legendary.
vistaprime David Wilson said something along the lines of Sasha having to do everything a particular way, that the preparation for each jump had to take a certain number of seconds and his choreography had to accommodate that. It kind of sounded like OCD to me, which would be the opposite of lazy.
Kat K She should have stayed with Tatiana Tarasova. That’s what she should have done. Her programs with Tarasova were her best ones, and she was still making mistakes, but they were more minor. She was actually building some consistency and doing long programs with just one or two minor mistakes in them. That’s why she was winning all of her Grand Prix events and the Grand Prix Final, and posting the highest scores under IJS at the time. She held the highest score for a sp until Yuna Kim at 2007 Worlds, and some of the highest scores for the lp for a few years as well. That was all under Tarasova. Robin Wagner didn’t work with her that long. She basically inherited what Tarasova had already done.
I think she is the most inconsistent skater at this level...She won silver in 2006 olympics but fell 2x..so I .......She is not the great skater that Irina is
Bravo, Sasha Cohen, Russia loves you (But not Sarah Hughes) you have a lot of fans here, we found you a good replacement (Julia Lipnitskaya) ---- so rest easy, you're already in the history of ...
ARTHUR VERSO Why not Sarah Hughes? She was a lovely skater. Focus on whom you like--don't make a point of declaring whom you don't like. Too much drama in skating as it is.
NYCBlonde Sarah was not good...hunched shoulders long arms with poor technique. Only reason she won the Olympics was because of the judging controversy week prior. She seems sweet though
NYCBlonde Sarah cheated a lot of her jumps, including most of her jumps at the Olympics. Even the first jump in her combos would often be underrotated. She was kind of a fluke who benefited from a lenient judging system that didn’t deduct points for cheated jumps or even look for them in the first place.
@@evanperilstein5308 At 2002 Olympics, Sarah did a good job never happened before to win and she was lucky, because the other better skaters like Michelle and Irina made mistakes.
He's a believer in "american wonder" - it's when someone's nothing but gets the gold. It worked once, so nongrowing kids kept believing it may happen again.. sorry - it might happen again. No way, sorry for robber Cohen LOL
Irina skated like a bull in a china shop: wild with no real mastery of her edges and no beautiful positions. It was a shame the judges always awarded her for presentation scores that she didn't deserve.
Joshua Lerman I’m a huge Sasha fan, but Irina completely deserved her win here. She wasn’t graceful, but she skated fast and with exuberance and charisma. Her performance was very exciting. Plus, she didn’t make any mistakes, and it had more technical difficulty than Sasha’s. She did a clean 3Lz-3L, her jumps were huge, and some of her spins were just as difficult as Sasha’s (such as her change-foot biellmann). Sasha would have had to skate perfectly or very close to perfect (like maybe one two-foot landing or a minor step-out) to argue that she should have won here. Graceful skating, beautiful lines and extension, and superb artistry and interpretation can only take you so far. It is a sport, after all.

Cohen gets no speed on her crossovers and she often touches down on her jumps because she can't hold the landing. Her opening Lutz combo is evidence of that.
Even clear people are colored too, not just the rest. Them are black, white, red, etc. By the way; woman looks better in pink than man. Somebody has always bothered me when I have taken a long sleeve pink shirt.
actually a lot of figure skaters does wave their arms to keep their body moving on ice...like trying to balance on a beam and her triple spins and landing are the key points in figure skating; i don't see why fans of other skaters criticize someone specific as if they aren't suppose to be skating; judges are fair and knows how to score a figure skater's performance and it's not like the figure skaters are hating Yuna but they actually acknowledge her abilities that even Pros can't pull off

So, if Kwan's time and best years **cough cough** were behind her why did she show up for worlds, bungle, and then play that ugly trick to get herself onto the Olympic team? Oh wait...I know....money, money, photo ops, money, press, money, ink, media, money....pity, sympathy, money, attention, money..she really hosed a whole lot of people to serve her own insatiable need for money and attention but still a fitting end to her **cough cough** career. She fell at exhibitions????? Do you have youtube links????? That's awful! Then perhaps she just doesn't have that much elite talent. I always thought her falling was due to nerves and competition stress/pressure, but perhaps she just really cant execute the elements??? Or perhaps her ability to perform for an audience in general is not high enough, because she has looked pretty amazing in some of her practices.
Hey Miss Sings, what happend to the 2010 Nationals vid you, me and Ihaba were talking on? It seems the owner of that vid wiped all of the comments away. Are you able to post there?
The way that Howsa is on like every Sasha vid posting racial slurs about Kwan and defending Sasha so much...it just seems like she knows Sasha. It wasn't meant to be anything personal about Sasha. I've just never seen anyone so nutty over someone they dont even know.
She is not a relative of HowsaBowa, How could she be related to her? Why do you bring this up, just to insult her? Howsabowa is just a fan of Sasha. By all means she is not even related to her. However Howsabpwa is often finding excuses for her verbal tirade.
lol, i never told anyone to do anything with their lives. Sasha Cohen was a beautiful skater, terrible competitor. This is fact. Events where no medals were at stake were her best. That tells you something.
it's not right to tell others what to do with their lives...if people want to pursue their dreams, take opportunities and take risks in life then they should...instead of playing it safe and not doing anything and in the end not making something happen...i'd rather say in the end at least i tried to live out my dreams & do what i want instead of regretting it in the end because i didn't do it & is left wondering what would've happened if i did...nonetheless she is still a beautiful skater...
Um, Im not even that into Kwan. I'm a HUGE Kim fan. What's it to you? What "madness" are you talking about? You seem creepy...I love Sasha Cohen. Always have. She should have done ice shows. I noticed she NEVER fell and outskated every skater in history when she was exhibitioning. She had nerve problems in competition. Why does that bother you so much? Are you a relative of Sasha's or something?
By the way, I happen to think Sasha is a gorgeous skater, but she should have never pursued a competitive career. She was known for blowing it at all the big stressful events. She is at her very best when she's doing a tour or exhibition because there's no pressure to succeed or win. She can relax and do her thing :) Not everyone is cut out for competition. Part of what made Kwan so brilliant was her ability to deliver her absolute best and blow it out of the water when the pressure was on.
You're right, skating isnt just about jumps....but you are required to land them...Sasha did not win titles because she crashed on the ice. Way too much. Sorry, but you cannot fall down as much as she did and still be in the running. So, no matter how gorgeous the footwork or artistry, if you are falling several times in one program (as such did on many occasions in her LPs) you're not gonna win anything, and you will not be considered a legend or one of the greats. Just the way it is.
The reason why people tend to mention Michelle Kwan more is because she was in competition when Sasha started competing. There is a difference when it has to do with having experiences acquired through years of training and competing. This is NOT about who is better than another figure skater. It is like saying that Nancy Kerrigan is better than Kristi Yamaguchi. Do you see my point?
That is just nonsense. By 2005 Kwan wasn't the same skater as she used to be. Her best years were behind her. I'm sorry but we probably won't ever see another skater get on the podium for 8 straight years like Michelle did. But i guess she didn't compete in those 8 years eh? You are a complete moron.
Wow, I didn't know you could take so much time once your name was called. 🤣 "Change of edge a 'little' bit".....sure "a little", whatever!! 🤣
Sasha's incredible musicality, exquisite spins, and iconic spiral sequences are unparalleled. ❤
Sasha Cohen is princess. Yuna Kim is Queen. Michelle Kwan is Goddess.
Sasha had to skate on crutches or she would fall everywhere on ice.....How lovely Sasha.

Sasha's and Nicole's spirals are unmatched...Gorgeous!!!

Michelle kwan had the best spiral. Change of the edge spiral is Michelle's signature move.
Her World 2005 was definitely an improvement. But I think she should have stayed with Tarasova . Her earlier Worlds were filled with disappointment.
Despite some stumbles, she shared some dreamy moment with Moscow audiences, which I really love about this performance.
Bravo

Tends to land on the back of her blade, hence the fall outs. Point your toe on the landing
And then the loser lady ,,,, always overscored,, shashaaaa Cohen!

Yup... She fell 2x and STILL won the Olympic Silver Medal. That speak volumes of the high level on all of her elements.
well she fell twice cause she got caught up in media interviews instead of practicing and then didn't have a good warm up. silly move.
