Scene from "Man in the Iron Mask" Yes, it's a movie, but it's a powerful scene.. and relevant to our current politics. GO OBAMA!!
The fact that they do not attack him no matter how bad they feel is a great shown of respect people have for D'Artagnan (throwing the apples is not what I'd consider the attack)
You are absolutely right Jeep Amir. The main reason the people respected D'Artagnan is because he respected them. Respect is a two-way street and is not earned through fear and intimidation.
More than respect. D'Artagnan is a legend at this point. He's an old Captain now. Kids pretend to be him the streets.

And I have to respectfully disagree with the last part of your comment about the apple Jeep Amir. They threw those apples with the clear intent of somebody getting hit by so I would still consider that to be an attack.

@@startvideonow You don't say! Here I am thinking there actually was a man in an iron mask in reality who was Louis XIV's twin brother and rightful heir to the throne. Of course I am well aware it's just a fictional novel but that doesn't mean I can't be invested in the characters.
This must be the greatest adaptation of a Musketeer story!!

They also did "The Four Musketeers", and then in the 90s did "Twenty Years After" with the same actors. IMO, the best adaptation

d'Artagnan était vraiment bon au maniement de l'épée. J'ai trouvé ça impressionnant quand il a réussi avec son épée à couper la pomme en deux. Aussi, il me fait penser à ma sœur dans son attitude et certaines de ces réactions. Elle aussi a une forte personnalité et sais se faire respecter.
