    I saw how Alba said: Elena is epic, she goes places, sees the world, expands her horizonts. Lila is tragic. She has a journey in her inner world, inside herself. Interesting take.

    Antonio's leaving and warning is a foreshadow of what is to come. He has been secretly protecting both Lila and Lenu. I was wondering when the darker side of Lila would appear. Remember Lila began a relationship with Nino when she knew Lenu had a crush on him when they were teenagers. She used to make mean comments to Lenu when she was stuck in the neighborhood and Lenu was pursuing college. Its obvious that Lenu is insecure in her looks, but Lila is insecure when it comes to status, education, and power. I also want to discuss the contrast of Pietro and his partner with Elena/ Lenu's life in Naples. It's evident that Pietro is stable and happy while everyone's life in Naples is constantly changing and threatened with violence, drugs, and poverty.

      Agreed. Antonio leaving is a huge red flag .he is afraid something will happen to his kids . Your comment on Lila and Elena is on point .
      Lila doesn’t have the social status lenu has and as powerful as she is in the neighbourhood it’s nothing compared to what lenu has achieved

    I love how this show begins with childhood and ends with it in the character of "Emma," this child who appeared in the last episodes but managed to make us deeply empathize with her because we know her story and the fate that awaits her. I think she reminds her mother, Leno, of her mistake in her relationship with Nino, which is why every time she gets close to her, she feels guilt and chooses to stay distant. Emma resembles her mother in her childhood, perhaps more than any of her siblings; she is silent and doesn’t express her feelings like the others, and maybe secretly resents her mother, just like young Leno did. It pains me to see the kind of parenting that Leno represents-the "emotionally absent mother." Despite her knowledge and culture, she still doesn’t know how to connect with her children, even choosing to ignore many situations rather than respond with a parenting reaction. Through Leno’s motherhood, the show again emphasizes the importance of upbringing in shaping one’s personality. Emma is nearly neglected, invisible, and unnoticed, even by her sisters who don’t show much empathy towards her. No one can make her smile; she’s always serious. I just hope for a happy ending for this little girl, even if Nino reappears. 🥺💔

    • @alwayswatching2295
      @alwayswatching2295  3 місяці тому +2

      I love this comment. Everything you said about Emma is true. Even in the books Elena was not close to her daughters. She never really wanted to be a mom and I think trying to provide for them left her exhausted
      I think her decision to have a baby with Nino was selfish. She thought the baby would make him love her . Now she’s stuck with another child she has no time for and what’s worse Emma is alone
      That scene when she is watching Nino up close to the tv was sad. She’s developed an obsession with this man she doesn’t know and will spend her life likely looking for him in other men.

    Thanks for a great synopsis. Lila provides the material for Elena's writing once again, just like her childhood book inspired Elena before. Lila embodies the source material; she's Napoli, its brooding instinctive intensity anchored in family and the past with unconscious violence brewing under the volcanic surface. The Solaras know that Lila is "the Boss" and takes charge as they do and is behind everything. It's destructive dark creativity that tears things down and apart like Lila raging giving birth and Nino's uncontrolled erotic urge. Elena distanced herself and witnesses with words which Lila wants to use for her purpose. Elena displays her inherited roots limping like her Mother and in her lifelong obsession with Lila. Imma inherits Lenu's obsession with Nino. The girls are manifesting the same split that's mirrored in their Moms, the challenge to make friends of the subconscious and conscious mind.

    This episode really emphasized how different lila and lenu are. Lila is really living in her own bubble, she doesn’t really understand how the world works. And that the possibility of a simple article or even a writer bringing down really established criminals is really slim. But putting your friend and her family in danger just to achieve your own agenda, really brought me back to the earlier seasons where lila sabotages lenu’s life. Also lenu’s obsession with lila is really keeping her from seeing what’s really happening. I feel like she overestimates lila, like she did nino. Like she doesn’t really know her and her intentions. And there will come a time where she will be met with the reality as she did with nino.

    • @alwayswatching2295

      I agree. Elena over values and places Lila on a pedestal. she also doesn't know her as well as she thinks she does so she finds everything Lila is doing to be mysterious and fascinating.

      @ yeah and its so frustrating sometimes. Because we’ve been watching lila through lenu’s eyes. And lenu as a narrator is not really reliable. I love lenu and her story of overcoming her past and achieving everything she did. But i really wish the story dived more into lila’s psyche.

    Not sure that Elena's leg issue is psychological, I believe it is an inherited issue from her mother who also had a horrible limp. Stress could be contributing to the condition, or may be the trigger for it. As for Imma, she is on the spectrum. To what degree, I am not sure we will ever find out.

    Why would Marcello say that Lenu is blameless for this mess? I guess he knows Lenu and Lila, and knows Lila has the motivation to use Lenu to get back at the Solara brothers?
    Will we be done with the neighborhood now, and jump ahead in time to the scene where Gennaro calls Lenu and says his mother has disappeared? Oh wait, we still have to do the scenes previewed at the end of this episode. Was that Nino talking to Lila in the street?

    I think it is really unfortunate what has happened to Lila's son but at the same time I'm not upset, Lila is in that scene. U can't profit off of something like that & directly destabilize ur own community** then be upset that it's affecting u negatively, like that's actually gross (especially the scene of them hitting him, like girl u r responsible for this as much as he is).
    In a different storyline I would've liked her to think ahead and both families move if they saw things getting worse.
    (**I understand certain places have very few opportunities but this is Lila she can make money if she wants to, why this way)

    • @alinethani2236
      @alinethani2236 3 місяці тому +3

      Also if the roles were reversed and Lenu somehow had the upper hand in a situation, Lila wouldn't take that kind of treatment. She's been like this for a while I think she often has transactional friendships borderline obligatonal
