Did anyone else pick up on the scene where the Solara brothers drive up on Lenu and she instinctually grabbed her bracelet? That was a past trauma that she relived going back to season 1 where the brothers tried to force her in the car and Marcello accidentaly broke her bracelet. Its also a symbolic way of telling the audience that the Solara brothers are unhinged yet again, just like the old days...
Great analysis. First of all, "Raggedy Nino" 🤣. Second, I think Lenu's encounter with Antonio was settling an old score. They were very important to each other at one point and it was a really explosive and emotional moment. It was interesting that they considered sleeping together as a moment "outside of time," and that Antonio didn't consider it betraying his wife. Just making up rules on the fly, I guess. Cool. LOL. Imma has the darker brooding Siciliana nature as well as physical traits similar to Lila which was brought out by the little girls questioning who's the mother of who. It's probably why the photographer thought Tina was Lenu's daughter..Lila is a depiction of raw instinctive nature and elemental emotion, Lenu is awareness and artistic expression. Each of their daughters share the traits of their mother's friend..

Hi Hamza- find i have to watch the show several times to get what is going on some things. Sometimes the subtitles are too quick, anyway. Love the episode, and I never understood how Lila's relationship with Alphonzo gave her control over Micheal. Maybe you could explain this to me. So looking forward to the next episode.
Hi Riva 🔥My understanding is she uses him to seduce Micheal . Alfonso relationship with Micheal is what’s been keeping him controlled. It seems like he takes all his anger out on him This storyline has been forced this season so it’s not clear because it’s not well written
Yes, Nino is a scumbag. BUT when Lila and Nino had their (very real) love affair they were still very young and impressionable. Lila was pregnant. Nino left, yes, but he tried to return. I believed he was just as traumatized by that whole thing. He still loved Lila but was banished. So this is also partly why he obsessed with Lila and turned out to be a womanizer. That, along with his dad's genes, or at the very least, his charming behavior. So, honestly, I always thought Elena was always the third wheel and kind of wished Nino would love her no matter what. I'm not a fan of Elena's character. She had just as many flaws as all the others. She literally refused to see things. If she really cared about Lila, Nino would have been off the table both for her friend's trauma, but also for not being first choice by Nino. I loved the scene with her and Antonio, but sad for Antonio. Just as I was sad for Franco. Elena and Lila both destroyed a lot of men's hearts. Elena maybe more. Lila was attractive and enchanting to men, but she didn't let many get close. Elena never had any boundaries. They were both gross in their own way.
How is every episode better than the last!? I have a terrible feeling something going to happen to lilas daughter and maybe Lila only 3 episodes to go 😢
In the book, as opposed to this series, there's a huge theme about the jealousy Lenù has about Lina's daughter Tina. She see's Tina as prettier, more graceful, more artistic than Imma. For some reason the series didn't showcase this aspect. It seemed like, in the book, Lenù did not make the photographer put her daughter Imma in the photograph because she preferred Tina to Imma. It's been awhile since I read the books, do any of you remember this jealousy?
i was with the impression that Alphonso had some sort of entanglement with Michele, because in that scene outside, when Alphonso is crying with Lenu and Lila, he says that he is getting older and fatter and uglier and now Michele doesnt seem him like similar with Lila anymore, and than he is saying things about his ass being hurt, so i was wondering if some affair, but more in a abusive form of affair happend between Alphonso and Michele and maybe Michele is one of those man who is homophobic or transphobic but in fact likes to have relations with and maybe had with Alphonso. and maybe was this a secret and Lila had this against Michele, but now for some reason, is not working anymore to use this secret to control Michele.
The photographer is crazy because Lenu literally pulled her daughter to her lap and took a picture with her and still used the first photo with the other girl. But to me yes it was obvious that the photographer really did think that Lila’s daughter was actually Lenu’s daughter when the girl first sat down
there’s more of an emphasis in the book on the fact that tina is more vocal, spoke earlier, that she is very beautiful and charms everyone with her precociousness, while lenu wonders about imma’s tardiness in speaking, her lack of engaging as much as tina, and later on, a sort of sadness due to the absence of a father figure, whom she searches for in enzo, or pietro when he comes to pick up his girls for holidays and stuff, and also due to seeing how everyone perceives tina as superior, so she lacks confidence in expressing or making certain choices, she does what tina tells her to because she is perceived as better, but not because she necessarlly wants to do what tina says. in the show, it’s not really obvious.
Every film adaptation has its downsides. In the book, it’s very clear that Lila had a huge influence on Lenú’s writings about the neighbourhood. That’s not much apparent in the series. Perhaps they’ll find a way to make it more clear in the next episodes. That’s an important plot point, because it makes Lila as involved in what happens next as Lenú is.
In the books I remember it was Rino's influence what changed Lila's son. Lila shouldn't have given her brother work. Yes, he is her family, bit sometimes you just have to get away from them. Her brother sold her to Solaras, he was ungrateful. It is her mistake. She might be smarter than Lenu. But she made the biggest mistake by staying in the neighborhood. She is smart to know that this never ends well. It's the same as Lenu/Nino situation. They both know better but still destroy their lives.
@@alwayswatching2295 and it hurts I remember that little Lila dreamed of making her brother the richest man in neighborhood. She even named a son after him.
@@alwayswatching2295 rino reminds me of my uncle... and despite it all I still love my uncle I just can't destroy this family bond... so I kinda get why Lila gave him a work You always cherish the happy memories. It is too deep
I believe that Michelle may have had a subtle romantic interest in Alfonso because he looked so much like Lila. I do not believe it was physical, but having him around meant he still had a piece of Lila. However, as Alfonso started to age, the spell was broken and Michelle wanted to show his hyper-masculinity and gay phobia to assert that he had nothing to do with Alfonso by beating him. I also think this is why Alfonso is so hurt by Michelle.
Nino is a narcissist. He needs women for constant supply and narcissists don't let anyone go. It's a constant hoovering to pull them back in. They disappear and pop back up over and over again. It's a horrible experience to live through and their love bombs are like a drug that make people grasp for another hit. You completely lose yourself
she was never 'in love' she was in stockholm syndrome! typical of being with someone who is an abuser like him. but finally she wakes up!🙌🙌the sad part is for her daughter and her having to stay in contact him, in an attempt for her daughter to have a 'father', if you are with a narcissist they use their victims for an energy source., and you need to get away from them for good, but at least she wakes up!
It's a somewhat insignificant note but (I haven't finished the episode also) but Alfanso's situation reminds me a bit of Lila when she had come into her family with a bruised up face n they were shocked for like a split second then acted/ignored the situation for the whole dinner/gathering. like Lila didn't talk all that scene from memory. So it is kinda interesting the reflection of Alfanso being Lila, it's all very sad, n th Lila not defending Alfanso is sh**ty (since she's kinda used him) but would imagine it being triggering if she stepped in (well if that past marriage has remaining scars on her)
The sex scene with Antonio was a bit off, but mainly due to the mood they set with the music and lightning, cause in the book it made so much more sense
The thing is if have only watched each of these episodes once so I don’t really remember the characters from their youth and who did what. So in some ways I don’t remember who are siblings and who is connected to whom.
And I think only Lenu/Lila/Nino/Enzo are recognizable. Lenu and Nino mostly because of the glasses😅 Lila and Enzo I think were cast perfectly They look a lot like the younger actors from other seasons.
This chanel is really good and despite not having time in the last years to watch anthing appart from My brilliant friend and the durrels, I think you are very insighful!❤ I don t quite understand how and why did Alfonso approach Michele and what did Michele take from him untill now. It makes zero sense to me but I haven t read the books. This narrative with Alfonso is strange and makes 0 sense if you watch the first seasons. He was always more sensitive, more human but why he just HAD to become trans? And if he was, wouldn't it have been better for him to keep a low profile rarher than expose himself like that? Sure, he is mentally fragile hut is he suicidal also? It just doesn t make sense frim a character developing sense! I said in an earlier comment several weeks ago, that something about these series seams really forced. While the first 2 seasons made so much sense, the 3rd and especially now the 4th seams a bit forced to tell the same narative we are forced fed in the last years all over the movies. Not all men who are sensitive and human end up being trans you know. It s not all only about that. Seams to me someone either forced the writer to insert this plot twist in order to be more in trend with the current political issues, or the writer herself is extremely politically biased. I grew up in a violent neighborhood myself in the 80' and 90' s in Eastern Romania and while it was certainly not as violent as Naples, my mum nearly got r ^@×> while 8 months pregnant. Who defended her? A man. So it just makes 0 sese to me when I hear that women have been made to believe that they can't function on their own without a man...Yes...this is true in a way but in a violent society, would in fact a woman survive without the protection of one or several men who care for her? If Lenu grew up in that horrible neighbourhood how else is she suposed to feel when she saw so much violence in her most formative years? Lila had no man to protect her that s why she became the scheming woman she is. It is a survival tactic women had always had and it's sometimes more powerful than men's brute force. Anyway, no matter how much I just want to enjoy a movie lately, this nararatives always come and all I can do is roll my eyes and stop watching anything. There is litlle place left in the last 10 years for a more nuanced look at what women's problems trully are. I was dxtrenely left leaning in my youth, given what I saw first hand in my own life but all trghout my friends lives but after I married and had 2 children I started seeing things a little bit more nuanced. Coming back to Nino, I think they chose a great actor because he is not the most handsome and it just shows how much, for women it s not all about looks when it comes to men. It's about the sensibility(real or just played out by a predator) and feeling seen and appreciated. He is sooo disgusting. My best friend frkm high school has a back and forth relationship with a man who I feel is like 25-50% Nino and I wish i had the koney to pay an Antonio to spy on this guy to see how and what he has been doing to my friend in the last 11 years. 😢 There is trully no character more digusting, not even the Solaras than Nino:( These people who don t refuse anything to themselvs because they can't help themselsvs and then call themselfs free are the worst paradox for me. And they want everyone to be like them! And are most often so succesfull in their careers because of the influence and lack of remorse. No values, no humanity. If only we wojld be able to tell them appart!
Thank you for this comment and thank you for sharing. I agree with the your take on Alfonso. He was not a major character in the novel and they wrote him in a lot more then made sense for the show. I think what you said about violence was important. Lila was never protected by the men in her life especially her father and so she has looked for men to shield her from harm. Eventually she got to a point where she was able to protect herself without a man but that fear never went away. In terms of NINO. I can see why he is charming. He has a way of connecting with women that I think most women are not used to. Eventually his mask slips but when its on its really wonderful.
I do wonder one thing.. if Nino and Lila stayed together, would he have been any different? Is it possible he keeps chasing other women because he is trying to recapture what he had with her? But then I think, probably not. He would have been good for a while but he would have strayed after a while. Interesting.
there is such a lack of people talking about this show, thank you for posting & so quickly too

I have a terrible feeling something going to happen to lilas daughter and maybe Lila only 3 episodes to go 😢
The next three episodes are insane
That photographer was MAD😂😂😂. She never even asked. She just came in took some pictures and wanted to run out of that neighborhood
It's time for Champagne, ladies and gentlemen! 🎉
I’ve never been so happy to see a man off my screen
Every film adaptation has its downsides. In the book, it’s very clear that Lila had a huge influence on Lenú’s writings about the neighbourhood. That’s not much apparent in the series. Perhaps they’ll find a way to make it more clear in the next episodes. That’s an important plot point, because it makes Lila as involved in what happens next as Lenú is.
Your are right and They do make it more clear in the next episode
In the books I remember it was Rino's influence what changed Lila's son. Lila shouldn't have given her brother work. Yes, he is her family, bit sometimes you just have to get away from them. Her brother sold her to Solaras, he was ungrateful. It is her mistake. She might be smarter than Lenu. But she made the biggest mistake by staying in the neighborhood. She is smart to know that this never ends well. It's the same as Lenu/Nino situation. They both know better but still destroy their lives.
Yes unfortunately Lila brother negativity influenced her son.
Her brother was always angry with her for doing better then him
@@alwayswatching2295 and it hurts I remember that little Lila dreamed of making her brother the richest man in neighborhood. She even named a son after him.
Yes she loved him but his personality was to unstable . He wanted everything to fast
@@alwayswatching2295 rino reminds me of my uncle... and despite it all I still love my uncle I just can't destroy this family bond... so I kinda get why Lila gave him a work You always cherish the happy memories. It is too deep
she’s also dragging lenu back into the neighbourhood, too. i’m so sick of her insistence to move back.
Thank you for this comment. I think Micheal uses him as a punching bag as you said to send Lila a message
Nino destroyer of all worlds and universes LOL
He will pay for his sins one day 😂
Nino is a narcissist. He needs women for constant supply and narcissists don't let anyone go. It's a constant hoovering to pull them back in. They disappear and pop back up over and over again. It's a horrible experience to live through and their love bombs are like a drug that make people grasp for another hit. You completely lose yourself
Yea ! he is very good at mirroring what people want and giving them as much of it as possible .
she was never 'in love' she was in stockholm syndrome! typical of being with someone who is an abuser like him. but finally she wakes up!🙌🙌the sad part is for her daughter and her having to stay in contact him, in an attempt for her daughter to have a 'father', if you are with a narcissist they use their victims for an energy source., and you need to get away from them for good, but at least she wakes up!
To me, Lila and Nino are the same kind of people. Both are takers.
WORD. I was talking to the screen, LIKE, FOH NINO. IT'S TOO REAL THO. I know too many WOMEN cooked by CHILDHOOD crushes.
Same ! That crush never goes away
I don't understand how Alfonso helped Lila control Michele?
What I understood is Alfonso was sleeping with him and maybe Lila threatened to expose him in some way
It's a somewhat insignificant note but (I haven't finished the episode also) but Alfanso's situation reminds me a bit of Lila when she had come into her family with a bruised up face n they were shocked for like a split second then acted/ignored the situation for the whole dinner/gathering. like Lila didn't talk all that scene from memory. So it is kinda interesting the reflection of Alfanso being Lila, it's all very sad, n th Lila not defending Alfanso is sh**ty (since she's kinda used him) but would imagine it being triggering if she stepped in (well if that past marriage has remaining scars on her)
Very true ! She know what men are capable of when they are angry
Who else thinks Nino is Tina’s ( Lila’s daughter) and Imma’s father?!????
Lina is really a mean person
I read the titles of the upcoming episodes. Episode 9 is gonna be heavy one...
Actress who plays Tina looks more like Lenu is her mother 😅 There is nothing from Lila, she is totally her fathers copy😅
😂😂😂 I was thinking that to but then I remembered Enzo. She is carbon Copy of him
girls usually resemble their fathers more than their mothers. the casting for this show is incredible
Imma looks like Nino in childhood, yeah, they definetely made girls look like their fathers @BogdanHonciuc
I think Tina is the daughter of Nino!!!!
Sad, but Emma is better off without Nino in her life
Very true he is unreliable
What was your take on Nino’s television interview with those same sorry communism rants? So stuck. And the way Imma was looking at him was disturbing
He was saying what he needed to say to get in the right circles.
I don’t think Nino believes in anything
I hear you but I also think he sounds like a has been and looked like even he didn’t care about what he was saying.
Yes I agree. He is not even pretending anymore . He lost his charm . Before he could lie convincingly
I think Imma is just curious about her dad. I don’t think he has seen her much.
The sex scene with Antonio was a bit off, but mainly due to the mood they set with the music and lightning, cause in the book it made so much more sense
Agreed it was slightly cringy. When she removed her glasses I died 😂
This chanel is really good and despite not having time in the last years to watch anthing appart from My brilliant friend and the durrels, I think you are very insighful!❤
I don t quite understand how and why did Alfonso approach Michele and what did Michele take from him untill now.
There is trully no character more digusting, not even the Solaras than Nino:(
These people who don t refuse anything to themselvs because they can't help themselsvs and then call themselfs free are the worst paradox for me.
Eventually his mask slips but when its on its really wonderful.
brilliant
Thank you 🙏🏾
I do wonder one thing.. if Nino and Lila stayed together, would he have been any different? Is it possible he keeps chasing other women because he is trying to recapture what he had with her? But then I think, probably not. He would have been good for a while but he would have strayed after a while. Interesting.
He would’ve continued. The reason he wants Lila is because he can’t have her
I think this season sucks. I don’t like the new actors or story direction.
