My parents failed their GCSEs and I’ve never seen them work so hard growing up. However that hard work prepped them for life and they are flourishing now.
I used to fail constantly but I started to take action and finally I passed my finals with 70% as my average. But it didnt feel like something I'd be proud of. When I saw those marks I thought I'd be proud of it but my reaction was just eh. So yeah I dont really take my grades seriously anymore its garbage.
Not tryna be mean or start something 70 is not good it’s barely passing so I think you would of been way more proud if u had like 90s average and it would of motivated you a lot.
I studied all year for my exam and sacrificed sooo many hours of my time. My day was literally wake up, study, eat something (if I get the opportunity), study and sleep for like 4-5 hours. And when I got 99 out of a 100 I didn't feel happy. To be honest I couldn't care less if I failed.
This guy is such a mood honestly. Well I've got my gcse exams starting in like 10 days. Honestly I don't care what I get, as long as I get into my A-Levels which I most certainly will. If I don't get perfect grades I don't care because they won't impact my life, most people just want them because they wanna be perfect.
Broo I just found your channel yesterday and it's sooo good! I really like your vids and binging them all rn (ik it's kind of short term pleasure if I'm not implementing them but yea)
damn, how tf can i clearly see myself on this fellow student. Anyways thanks for the poggers videos, keep up the good work :>. And im just gonna say something, thats also one of my problems where like i dont even know what i want to do in my life yet so i just dont even try to be truly good at something, like sure i can get good grades without trying that much but then if u really think abt it not all forms "knowledge" can even be found in schools and me personally i dont even wanna learn most of the stuff that they are teaching at schools because where tf are u even gonna apply most of it? sure there are some really fucking cool ideas, lessons and stuff that u can learn and apply in the real world, but i really do think that schools should be more specifically inclined on building the interests of students on certain topics that they do want to learn instead of just chucking in a shit ton of subjects
so yea grades dont really matter to a degree but then our goddamn society is just built in a way where grades is considered as one of the corner stepping stones for students to ""have a better life"" but then again nowadays theres an abundance of knowledge everywhere (internet) to the point where its not even worth going to school if u just wanna make money. Anddd yea its also hard that my ego is being fed up with this numbers or letters (Grades)
hey imma fellow Singaporean here, so glad one of ur vids was recommended to me like a week or so back, really love the insight u give and just ur humor and chill vibe. honestly was shocked that u can study just 2 hours a day in the secondary sch system but what u say makes sense, I don't know if I could do that honestly now that my prelims have just kicked off but I'll definitely continue to place more importance on my mental health and wellbeing. anyways ur vids are really awesome and I really enjoy watching them
Guys, I'm in school and I'm definitely not supposed to be writing stories in the comments, but here's mine: So... I'm almost the same age as Ruff but unlike him, I faced quite a lot of fluctuations with my grades. Until BC (before covid lol), I never even wrote notes in any class but passed with over 90% every year. It made me feel like I'm innately smart af. But during covid, my grades fluctuated between 70s and 80s. Naturally, being an only child in an Asian household it did take a huge toll on me. Then my mom had the mad Idea to push me into JEE(Indians know, rest look it up), change my board of education, and move to a totally different state. Let's just say it backfired pathetically. I pulled up my 10th result to 90 in 2022 but it fell right back to 70s. The plot twist is that I wanted to go abroad all this while. And JEE wreaked my chances a lot. I moved colleges after prepping JEE for a whole year and now wrote SAT(94% overall). I feel a lil better after that SAT, it was a breather. All of you may be thinking it's a waste that I studied so hard for a whole year + foundation years, but I just wanna tell you that I learnt more than just Math, Physics, and Chem while studying. Even during the years I didn't get the desired scores, I DID LEARN. I learnt how to push myself, my limits, qualities I didn't even know I possessed, self-control, and how important finding the right mentor and surroundings is for growth. As much as I wanna say grades don't matter, they do alright? They do. But what's more important is whether you can accept your effort. No matter how much you put in. If you accept and be responsible enough to deal with the consequences of your own choices. I remember being excited for SAT instead of my usual panicked state. And that was when I knew, all the JEE prep paid off. I would prolly never be scared of MCQ-based tests ever again. I knew I benefited from all that effort. And that realization was a peaceful fucking bliss. And I topped my school too. Just trust the process man, it'll pay off. Most of all... Trust yourself and your instincts. It's your damn life idiot!
Bro ur vid is the most useful and high quality i ve seen recently!!!btw the last chinese part is so CUTE:) lol,i literally thought about life after watching ur videos x-x Anyways,i ‘ll support u cuz i really love ur video style !!!!!! Hope i can do well in my igcse exams in May&June!!!🎉🎉🎉

@@ItsMeRuff I realise we are quite similar people, well singapore is a small country hopefully ill cross paths with you one day and become friends. You've inspired me to start a channel but I might hold that off for now since ive been pursuing a semi business as a 15 y/o.
i am a 9th-grade icsc student from India and my school literally gives no damn about mental health. there is a cutoff of about 22 marks in english grammar every term (except for boards) and if you fail in english you fail that term no matter how well you did in physics or mathematics. i have been quite a bright and all-rounder sort of student who literally has no idea right now why am i working hard to be that one bright mind of the batch when the only thing i am passionate about is art. my school is harsh to the students who suck at studies but gives no privileges to those who stand out at other things like music, athletics or anything which is not bringing you upto the 95% average in the boards of grade 10, maybe that's the reason why i work hard because what I have been perceiving so far is that there is no other option...
tbh i got the 2nd highest grade in my school and even then i didnt even study all day i got most information from listening to the prof. I had alot of free time in high school and i did some classes on ib(chemistry) so I would just grind past papers the day before the test and id always end up with 95%+. I had so much free time but the only thing i regret is not spending it in a better way. you dont need to be the best at getting grades, but you need to be above average imo and you will end up fine, but ik in canada because i moved there from romania for medical school then gpa really does matter because with below 3.9 your chances of becoming a doctor are really low. Although the exams here in canada where alot easier then some of mine that I would have to do in romania
Hey Ruff love your videos man! I reccomend you make a full in depth paid courses, that helps folks like us who's struggling in the monotamous educational system. That be dope bro
I am kind of like that too, I get grades easily, even jumped a grade, lol. I just understand the lessons , I always pass, I take advantage of it and help my fellows to understand. which in turn they like me more lol then I get more customers of my business in school (I hope the head mistress never reads this) I really don't like school much 😐, I think it sucks my energy sometimes, I love the presentation parts, the selling part, and the clubs but still I would rather spend hours looking at the roof in my room than sit on that chair one more second. But who I am I to decide, it's something we all have to do My friends wants to be a lawyer someday, you were right some people just love studying, I sleep in almost all the history classes but in someway always get better grades than her, who's so obsessively passionate about history. I wish that I could give her the magical words, but there's no magic or anything Anyways, if you don't enjoy school much, try to find something fun you like to do, eg: join a club on finances or anything you're interested in!, provide some kind of value with your knowledge Or do what you enjoy, I enjoy improving my communication skills, so I grab every chance to talk to other students, I enjoy reading self help books so in my free periods (classes) I read them. Find an optimistic way to approach your school life! ♡ or don't. What's even the point of feeling bad about it? Just do what you like in a creative way
It is good that you achieved this kind of thing. I went to school and got above-average grades in grade in middle school. I went from 3.0 in the first two quarters to 3.33 in the next two quarters in sixth grade. In seventh grade I had 4 A's and two B's, averaging a 3.5 GPA in that year. In eighth grade, I had a 4.0 first quarter, 3.8 second quarter, 4.0 third quarter, and 4.0 again fourth quarter. I got a President Academic Award for achieving good grades. Basically the foundation of success? Overall, in high school, I did not get the same kind of treatment, because I was bullied as a ninth grader, and my GPA was a 2.6 in the first half(semester). In the following time, I had an incident in which I got a disability, and that changed my whole life. I could not go to regular classes, I had to be in special education. My brain could not get the easy A, but I managed in high school to get a 3.7 GPA. I had to go to community college, and it was so difficult! I went as a Math major, trying to be a person who uses math to design video games, because I love to have free time in my life and have fun. I did get into Algebra 2 and elementary statistics, but could not pass precalculus. Long story, short, life is not about success it is about the failures and setbacks that come and bring you success in life afterward.

i just try to get decent grades. Getting a C in my report card or on a test will upset me, but i wont want to study till 3 AM for the next test. as long as i understand the material and grasp it somehow, im fine. grades don’t matter to me so much because i don’t know what i want to even do, but i don’t want to go into the medical field (which requires great grades). my grades don’t define me, as much as i try to get a passing grade and not look “stupid” just for society. (in other words so i don’t look like a loser in society bc that’s what lots of people define as losers- those who fail in the school system, which is corrupt).
Alr imma try to keep it short, I don't usually share shit like this but it's been on my heart for quite awhile, my finals are in 3 months(the ones that literally determine your entire future), I'm behind by 10 lectures in three subjects because of few health issues, I'll tryhard and update yall on what happens Cya in July
good luck and get enough sleep. an hour of sleep before the exam will be much more helpful than an hour of studying. anyway ik probably knew that already. take care of yourself
I'm someone who think that grades are important in my life but not everything in my life. Im going into year 10 and i'm already afraid of failing my gcses. DO you have any study routines or tips on how to pass my gcse exams without burning out and studying until 3am? I know that grades don't define you but the fact that everyone will think i'm a failure, that makes me worried about not getting a stable job in the future. After all that thinking, i start procrastinating, i hope you can give me some tips on how to study and prepare for exams(gcses) which can make me more motivated to study.
Just relax, I'm going into year 11 in September. I can't lie last year from transitioning into year 9 to year 10 I was exactly like you I was nervous but year 10 is basically year 9, just listen in class and do your homework and revise for mocks Coming from a student who gets relatively high grades there's no point in revising for your gcses in year 10 because you haven't even learnt half of the content, and by the end/ middle of year 10 you'll be completely over it. It's a fun year, however my school did our options and our RE exam in year 10 which is why I couldn't always just relax but I see it as an advantage as I'm currently going into year 11 with two gcses with high grades but seriously just enjoy it and have fun it's not that serious dw❤
I mean this is a two month late reply but I’m a straight A student I would recommend just watching different UA-camrs like tamkaur, jspark, Cajun koi academy these are like study UA-camrs who give solid advice. A tip I would give you is don’t procrastinate please don’t you stress out at the last minute and you begin to enter panic mode. I would set a time to finish things like I give myself this goal to finish hw before 5-6 pm. Then if I have a quiz, I would ask for a study module before the quiz and ask the teacher key topics. You got this. I’m a sophomore too so I get the feeling but you won’t fail. Ik you will ace this thing.
In my house hold to my parents grades means everything but one subject i do my best but still fail it the rest i pass but my parents are also never happy when i get 70 but if i get 80 they just say u can do better but yea
Doing what you love is hard because other people want to dictate what you do. I love music, I love making it but I’ll never make a career out of it because 1. My family is Muslim and 2. They’re Sri Lankan
no offense, but this vid feels like a "rich people say money doesn't matter" sorta thing. I used to get Ds all the time, but with lots of self-reflection and willingness to improve, I pushed to become a straight A student. Grades matter as much as you're willing to value them, and if having them will help you in the future, they'll be one of your most valuable assets in life.
So what's the solution I always get a bit less then average grades in both school and tution. My mom always tell me that i am shameless and always mentally abuse me.. I have very low self esteem because of that. So what can i do?? I cant even come up with a solution.
no, singapore is a city state independent from malasyia (former british colony) not from china :skull: that is like 2,000km+ difference in straight line distance *the more you know*
in my opinion you do gotta pay attention in class and work but mental health, and definitely sleep are more important than studying. In my experience, if I have bad sleep or mental health, i have bad grades, vice versa
I think a noun is the name of a place, object or a person, a verb is a doing word and an adverb describes the verb. This is what it would look like in a sentence. Jeremy ran to the shops quickly on a cold Sunday morning. Ps. I know this probably doesn’t mean much to you anymore as exams are over 😂

im giving O1 exams this year too :'D
good luck and get enough sleep. an hour of sleep before the exam will be much more helpful than an hour of studying. anyway ik probably knew that already. take care of yourself

7:16 - 9:52
I RELATE TO THIS SO FRICKING MUCH
We got the same bedroom light 😤
Im the same thing I get good grades without effort but I don't know what my goal is
I'm someone who think that grades are important in my life but not everything in my life.
I can't lie last year from transitioning into year 9 to year 10 I was exactly like you I was nervous but year 10 is basically year 9, just listen in class and do your homework and revise for mocks
Coming from a student who gets relatively high grades there's no point in revising for your gcses in year 10 because you haven't even learnt half of the content, and by the end/ middle of year 10 you'll be completely over it.
START NOW!!!!!!! (my gcses r in 30 days n I'm in denial...) i should've started in Yr 10
In my house hold to my parents grades means everything but one subject i do my best but still fail it the rest i pass but my parents are also never happy when i get 70 but if i get 80 they just say u can do better but yea
As a 16 yr who participated in international Olympiads, you just like me fr.
Damn we have many things in common.
bro i wanna meet you after 10 years.
If I got my own room, I would've done this before
Doing what you love is hard because other people want to dictate what you do.
Take action
So what's the solution
I always get a bit less then average grades in both school and tution. My mom always tell me that i am shameless and always mentally abuse me.. I have very low self esteem because of that. So what can i do?? I cant even come up with a solution.
still congratulations dude
Thanks bro
Hi i am from pakistan, can you plz share your study routine ,i know you are smart but i am not and i want to get GOOD GRADESSS PLZ HELP ME😭

I am doing my masters rn and I feel so depressed because I feel so stupid. I study 24hrs a day
love ur videos about school, so relatable
Avg iit aspirant after seeing this 😒😒(i am one of them) reply pls ruff huge support from me ❤
oml what subjects did you take for your gcses
in my opinion you do gotta pay attention in class and work but mental health, and definitely sleep are more important than studying. In my experience, if I have bad sleep or mental health, i have bad grades, vice versa
You remind me of old sneako
Is O level the highest level? just wanna ask cuz I cant relate to this grading type
Can u just teach me how to change your entire thought process .I'm a kind of person who don't know what I want to do .I don't wannabe this
we are the same person , i have to meet you
How do you take notes in class to be the most efficient
you want to get good mental health so you can work on things like grades

FR I get good english grades but wtf is a noun or a verb or an adverb?
I think a noun is the name of a place, object or a person, a verb is a doing word and an adverb describes the verb. This is what it would look like in a sentence. Jeremy ran to the shops quickly on a cold Sunday morning.
Ps. I know this probably doesn’t mean much to you anymore as exams are over 😂
@@harryhawe8694 Lol, thanks anyways man my sister always teaches me them but I keep forgetting it's just my brain doesn't brain with English and I rely on instincts for some reason.
@@_hazemwasel_7920 yeah that’s fair enough English terminology isn’t that useful to you anymore I’m sure
After watching lot of your video
I feel like i am a Chinese copy sold in India for 2 dollars of you 💀
Hmm really musicians don't need school? Well it's not prudent to assume.

Try taking a really competitive university entrance exam where you have to be in top 100 among a million students, you will taste failure.
