!! FAIR USE !!
Fair use is a legal doctrine that says use of copyright-protected material under certain circumstances is allowed without permission from the copyright holder.
In the United States, works of commentary, criticism, research, teaching, or news reporting may be considered fair use.
The use of copyright-protected material in this video and my other videos using material from Community (2009) Sony Pictures Television is transformative. I add commentary, use short clips and add meaning to the original material. I do not use copyright-protected material for commercial uses, nor do I monetize my videos.
The length of clips used are all short enough to pass UA-cam's automatic checks and allow for the use of copyright-protected content, which the rightful copyright owner allows to be used on UA-cam. - Розваги
I love how Troy is one of the only people that makes abed feel comfortable, hes so protective over him and makes him feel heard.
Everyone made abed feel comfortable in the group. Seriously, this headcanon that Abed was alienated by the cast is so delusional and flies in the face of the point of his story.
@@ilovewritingessays2017 what is this show?
@@shadowhawk4164 it's called community :)
@@runner.duck.07 thank you
@ilovewritingessays2017 i don't think anyone headcanons that tbh it just happens that a lot of ppl believe troy understands him the most (which is true)

11:14 “October 15th 2009, we made a deal, friends don’t lie.”
October 15th, 2009 was the day the episode Advanced Criminal Law aired, where Troy and Abed agree that friends don’t mess with each other.
this is such a good show.
They did friends don't lie before Stranger Things
his high pitched hums when he’s upset is very relatable to me
I do a pterodactyl screech! I don't know why, I always have and it's only gotten worse

I need to stop masking my Autism so much. I keep doing that and it's getting detrimental to my health.
Abed is my fictional character hero for being so unapologetically himself, and I need to start having even half that level of whimsy and self-confidence.
I feel you on this. Sometimes I feel like I even mask when I don’t need to and it gets hella exhausting. I wish people didn’t treat me way worse when I act like myself but if I had Abed’s confidence it wouldn’t matter
for real, after discovering these compilations and binge watching stuff about troy and abed haha, ive already figured out some things i didnt realize i was masking or otherwise due to my autism, and starting to unmask things like stimming and just accepting myself a little more. i already feel better lol
The idea that Abed wouldn't know about his universe's version of Doctor Who is the most unrealistic aspect of the entire series.
I figured that was what Inspector Space Time was 😅
As an autistic person the scenes with annie make me uncomfortable because I know when people move or change my stuff around without asking it always really upsets me and makes me feel violated, and she repeatedly does that with abed.
FUCK this just made me realise, despite being diagnosed for several months, that my “thing” with people moving my stuff is an autistic thing. When i think about it it makes so much more sense ahah
SAME, i agree, and also this is very relatable
Thats normal for everyone not just autistics
I feel the same way! and that is definitely not a neurodivergent thing - I'm neurotypical but many people would describe me as a control freak precisely because I have a very precise way of doing things and I get upset when it is violated.
Annie, being a stickler for the rules herself, should really know better.
@@reallollabunny Just because neurotypical people can experience it too doesn’t exclude it from being a neurodivergent thing.
I love that because abed struggles with emotions, Troy has to communicate his feelings clearly and work things through instead of passive aggressively ignoring having feelings like men are typically encouraged to do
"I need help reacting to something" is possibly my favourite Abed line ever. It was one of the most relatable things I've seen on TV and one of the greatest reactions to anything ever. The fact that Abed is the kind of person who gets to ask that makes me like him even more. And makes me want to be a bit more blunt and not scared to ask questions too. I don't always know how to react either - why does society teach us that we must hide this fact?
Abed is one of the characters that helped me realize I was autistic. I was like, huh, I relate deeply to this character who is autistic in ways I don’t relate to other characters. And then I got diagnosed.
im getting tested and i kind of relate to him except im more evil tbh and more aware of myself
2 weeks later: i got diagnosed as well. however ill be getting more testing cus my dad doesnt believe it

That apparently happened to Dan Harmon too
19:26 “I’m gifted in other ways” killed me, I’m a mathematician but I can’t calculate tip
That‘s cute ☺️
Tip is essentially the only math I can do.
I just move the decibel to the left one and double that number for a 20% tip
I'm a math major and I have a professor who says this all the time lol, she loves mentioning how mathematicians can never calculate the tip
@@stephaniemitchell5760 YES! Finally someone that understands!
"Shame on you people. It's not our job to help Abed grow up. Abed doesn't need reality. Abed is a magical elf-like man who makes us all more magical by being near us." THIS. This is by far the most supportive thing I've ever heard in terms of a defense of someone whose neurodivergent. There's always those ppl who want to change, alter or teach us how to behave and life is more magical when you let us be ourselves and don't shame us for it!
Preach!❤
Indeed!
"I'm gifted in other ways." I am SO using this. Abed is a gift.
Omg I use this on the regular
so many of abed's lines have entered my script. "why would you do it in front of me i'm not a coat rack" and "i need help reacting to something" are my two favourite (and most commonly used) ones
As an autistic person I can confirm I struggled with Analog Clocks growing up. The main reason is the hour hand. The second hand moves every second. The minute hand moves every minute. The hour hand moves whenever it feels like it.
The hour hand moves proportionally to the minutes that have passed from the beggining of said hour to the next one. It is intuitive. It does not move randomly.
@@juancamera5440 My point is that the hour hand should only move every hour as every other hand follows that logic. They do exist but incredibly expensive due to the mechanisms involved.
@@tyrael303 yes, the hour hand should be directly on the hour until the hour is over and then move all the way to the next number
@@tropiccheekss thank you :)
@@tropiccheekss I would absolutely hate analog clocks if they worked like that

i love how troy goes along with pretty much everything.
i never understood what a "bromance" was until i watched community.....
Troy realising that he is a "nerd" (as in sensitive, imaginative and non-conforming) instead of the jock everyone else celebrated him as is in my opinion one of the most wholesome "coming-out" stories on TV. Troy goes along with Abed because he is the first one to accept him with his insecurities, compulsive crying fits and whatnot.
I'm not autistic, but I'm very much neurodivergent, and everything about Abed is my comfort character and these videos really helped me see that more than I could before. I never realized I could sit through an hour and a half of Abed clips until now. Thank you.
EDIT: UPDATE OKAY GUYS IM AUTISTIC MB!
I'm just waiting for the next part because one and a half hours is not enough

Do you mind sharing what you do have?
@@Shadow-zf5uc Uh... Unspecified? It's kinda complicated. My mom doesn't want to get me tested for anything because she doesn't like the finality of it, but medical professionals in the past have said I could have OCD (it explains a lot if it is true) but besides that I display a lot of neurodivergent traits. Some of it is quite personal, but other stuff like intense hyperfixations, trouble sleeping because of how active my brain is, not getting social cues/not giving them properly, tics and stimming, other pretty general stuff that a lot of my neurodivergent and diagnosed friends experience. I really would love a formal diagnosis, which is why I don't want to put a definitive label on what I have until that happens, but sadly I can't do that until I'm 18 and an independent. I don't get what my mom has against diagnosises, but she's kinda weird so 🤷
@The Unlucky Potato I got confused when you said that you weren't autistic because I thought you meant you had been tested and not diagnosed with autism. I didn't understand you meant you just aren't currently diagnosed with autism. You're probably an undiagnosed autistic or if you want to be you can say you're a self- diagnosed autistic if you think that autism makes sense as a diagnosis for you. Which given the description of issues you just listed it sounds like it does.
There are some online tests you can take that might help give you an idea of what your issues are. Things that help assess if autism or OCD are possible diagnoses for you. It doesn't replace an official diagnosis but it can be helpful.
As someone with OCD I can tell you that it's possible you could have it given hyperfixation and insomnia with an abnormally active mind are things I've delt with. However the other symptoms all sound like autism.
I'm just now realizing, several years after the fact, that one of my friends tried to play the Troy to my Abed? I hadn't watched community yet and have only recently been diagnosed with autism/adhd. He was a big fan of Donald Glover, convinced me that the Troy/Abed handshake was something he came up with as a secret handshake, and overall we had a similar friendship within a larger friend group. Not really sure how to process this. (Buttered noodles are great btw)
Follow your heart, homie
tbf, the handshake in the show was ALSO something one of them got from the Internet and lied about making it up lol
💙
🍭❤awww!❤🧁
I think that was your friend trying to say he loves you because he related so deeply to this loving relationship, especially if he's neurodiverse as well because being the character to someone else's other character strikes me as such an ND love language (additionally, I headcanon troy as a possible ADHDer)
Britta was honesrly so Nice in the episode where she tried to help abed find a new show, shes not always great but she usually has her heart in the right place
“On the spectrum? None of your business” gold
As someone with Autism I find this portrayal very well made and accurate. The other group members think he’s weird, but they’re never mean to him. His autism I think is why he is a fan-favorite.
His reaction to discovering Inspector Spacetime is exactly how I felt discovering Doctor Who and I love it
a lot of fictional portrayals of autism feel like us being made fun of, but abed is different in that it feels like us making fun of ourselves. the cougarton abbey plot exemplifies that i think-him discovering inspector spacetime is treated like a genuine victory, they're glad he's happy instead of just relieved he can stop annoying them
"i need help reacting to something"
"abed"
"is this a social cue?"
his squeak when he gets overwhelmed is SO relatable i make the weirdest noises
I used to say “meow” when I got overwhelmed or shocked… not on purpose 😂 I now say “Aye”
@@oliverharris60 i now "say" the sound "nyaayng"
I go “hhhaaaaaaaa” or “hhhnnnnnn”
@@oliverharris60 Wait that’s a thing autistic ppl do?? Cause I say meow too but it’s only when I get startled by something lol
@@Kirsten4260 Nervous noises and things yeah. Startled meows for the win lol
the inspector spacetime thing to me is so funny, bc Doctor Who is one of my special interests as an autistic person, and I was doing a lot of happy stimming at the references.
I was also doing happy stimming, just with the fact that there were Star Trek references instead of Doctor Who references
I found it very accurate as I too watched doctor who and immediately started dressing like 13 for weeks after I finished the series
(I will add that I do not like the writing during the thirteenth doctor's era, however, I like the doctor's office and have both a similar t shirt and hairstyle so naturally that's the design I decided to emulate)
I was actually thinking right before Inspector Spacetime started playing that Doctor Who is a show that I think Abed would like/be interested in, and then it actually starts playing! (well, a reference to it starts playing, anyway.)
same same same

Shout out to Britta. She thought the problem was his favorite show possibly getting canceled without an ending so she introduced Abed to shorter series. When that didn't work she found him another show that had been running for like 40 years. And he liked both shows so she understood him to some degree.
abed is the reason I even considered that I was autistic. proof of what good representation is worth.
"ABED!"
"Is this a social cue?"
We love to see both representation and growth from our boy

Pretty sure Jeff is picking the pepperoni off his pizza. He also used to dab his pizza with napkins. He’s been borderline-unhealthily concerned with his diet and bodily health since he was a child.
not borderline-concerned, far, far past the line.
in other timelines it is shown better, im pretty sure it's the olives he's pulling off
Ever since I was a kid, I've picked the pepperoni off the pizza and it first. I kinda assumed he was doing that 😅
The fact that Britta introduced abed to Inspector Spacetime🥺♥️♥️♥️
i have watched all three in a row. i’m on my third juice box and my second bowl of buttered noodles. thank you for this

Now I want buttered noodles
@@mx.maniac7521 I always want buttered noodles
I think Abed’s “stand-up” for Troy and Jeff (and especially Troy’s reaction) is the most on the nose depiction of how I experience this brain thing
25:56 is honestly one of my favorite quotes “when the world gets bad enough, the good go crazy, but the smart? They go bad”
I’m not 100% convinced that him seeing Evil Abed was because he’s neurodivergent and not because he was right that the dark timeline is trying to take over
Me: *At the top of my lungs* "ON THE SPECTRUM?"
My Mum: *From a distance* "NONE YA BUSINESS!"
Honestly Britta was incredibly helpful to Abed with his TV show.
Abed never communicated that his worry was lack of Cougartown episodes, so it's reasonable that Britta thought it was over unresolved closure/finale.
Once she does understand that, she pitches the correct show of Inspector Spacetime.
I love Abed and Troy being iconically autistic together
“I need help reacting to something” is the funniest line in the whole show no question. Lose it every time
i think i have abedism, i think i may be abedistic, i might be on the abed spectrum, the abedctrum, i think i maybe might have abedspergs, i might have asd, abed spectrum disorder i think, i may
ive only recently realized/looked into my neurodivergencies and not masking as much anymore and abed is such a relatable character and i love how your vids make it easy to watch community with just abed because he’s my favorite. also it may be my echolalia trying to hoard abed mannerism material. i cant tell yet. youre doin good work my dude i appreciate it

@@the.real.mothman ty! i havent thought about hs in years but im too lazy to change it lmao
There is no neurotypical explanation for there being three 30+ minute episodes of these. I love it
yah the last three are probs going to be only 20 minutes rip
I love how Troy accepts everything there is to him, Jeff acts as an almost 'bridge' and easily understands and translates what he says and Britta tries to make him feel better. Shirley doesn't have many concerns about him, Pierce is Pierce and Annie also tries to help (though the way she goes about it can be questionable)
even in troy's made up story halloween story he still adds in his little sound effects :) troy knows him so well
I have a brother who’s autistic and Abed reminds me so much of him. His bromance with Troy is pretty much our relationship, minus their shenanigans, and I find so much comfort in that
But forreal, the text Troy sent to Abed hit a bit too close to home
Abed's reaction to doctor who was the same as me when i first found it! I still rewatch old episodes when i can
My son was diagnosed with Aspergers when he was 3 (2006). He is now nineteen. Abed reflects so many characteristics of my son, I feel irrationally protective of him. I love these videos.
It’s beautiful that you feel that way about your child. I am a female that was diagnosed late (at 17) and my parents still don’t except it. They always chastise me for being weird or not fitting in. Your son is very lucky

The hair color thing is how I feel with facial features. But like bone structure. People think I'm judging them but no,
1)its easier for me to recognize than names and voices
2) I genuinely get hyperfixated and amazed by the fact every bone structure is unique and not one person is built like the next.

As an autistic guy who's also slightly obsessed with Indiana Jones, this made me smile beyond reason
You know britta isn't the worst, she introduced inspector space time to abed and I love her for that since she technically introduced doctor who to him
Not only this Britta was also the one to help Abed get over losing Troy, while the rest of them were enabling his delusion by playing a game that would've seriously injured a lot of people if it were to have happened irl. Abed also even directly mentions that Britta's therapy sessions with him was helpful. Seriously Britta gets ragged on way too much by community's community, it's annoying.

I think the joke about white abed is a jab at Sheldon Cooper because he’s autistic too
Abed’s jokes are autism acceptance and made fun of when the ableist characters make fun of him
Sheldon is made fun of and purposely alienated from all the others.
I love that Chang is the RNGesus of Abed's mind.
I also love Abed. In S3E20 in the endcredit scene Abed and Troy meet a lady with a baby and the baby says "cool, cool, cool". Something I noticed and wanted to share somewhere. Have fun with this information ^^.
