The countertenor voice is a type of male singing voice having a female-like timbre, and the tenor is only having a dark and warm timbre, which is a standard male voice range.
Lee Hyuk had an accident when he was younger and lost almost two-thirds of his tongue. and now he is the best singer in korean and one of the best high tenor ever. this man is so amazing
+Phạm Thị Quý wait, he doesn't have two-thirds o his tongue? You've got to be kidding. This guy is insanely talented. Actually, even that's an understatement. How does he do that?
Great and wonderful compilation of men hitting F5 (no falsetto but either belt/mix tone or full round head tone). No disrespect on this....How high are you taking these men?
I wish I was a high tenor. People claim to be high tenors all the time, but actually dont even come close to qualifying as one. As a Baritone, I take pride in my voice and my actual voice placement. I don't need to flaunt and pretend to be a high tenor for the social validation. When it comes time to sing, I dont stress hitting the notes. Plus, I have a natural high resonance so I can keep up with tenors. Idk, some people just lie to be liked.
When I was younger I used to wish to be a baritone. I hated my "high pitched" voice (comparing to the others). Now that I'm 20, my lows developed more and my voice isn't so high as I thought it would be. I love my voice now lol.
im pretty similar too but i am kinda stuck in a phase of not fully accepting, I thought I was a baritone because I never sang and would speak low, I also compare my higher timbre voice to others (High voice is more about timbre than pitch) as i thought it was not masculine. what helped you in accepting and loving your voice?
In 2013 my voice started to changed, it changed drastically haha, here is a video from 2014: instagram.com/p/BDzNrGJwV9k., I'm singing mostly in falsetto but you can see my real tone in the end of video. I just started to love my timbre since 2014 lol. Here is a video of my actual tone (2016): instagram.com/p/BLvv-fwhVPh/, (I don't like this video tho). My keeps changing, you can see the difference in this video from 2015 (instagram.com/p/BCCKzlvwV1P/?taken-by=rafael_araujooo) and the one from 2016. Ps.; My technique changed a lot through the years lol, and it's different now too.
Bhangchahang Rai Well, what honestly made me start accepting it is making original music that made my voice sound the best. Some people have voices that naturally sound better in certain genres. I was always trying to have a pop voice, but I later realized that it wasn't right for my voice color. I started moving into like, jazz-swing rock, electro-rock and saw a major performance gain in my voice. I've have a naturally nasally rasp, so I can pull off high notes and fry notes easily and make them sound well. Engineering and mixing the vocals in the studio is an art of itself as well. You got to know how to mix a certain voice type. My voice type is a baritenor and as long as I keep singing consistently, the easier high notes become. My full range use to be F2-G#4, and now my full range is G#2-C#5. So I lost a couple of low notes and replaced them with high notes. Its just what you practice.
I'm a Lyric Tenor, so I didn't turn a high tenor as a thought a would be. Thank God, because I wouldn't like to have a higher pitched voice than it's now. My full vocal range is F2-G5-C6 now but I don't like to sing below B2 (my lowest supported note is Bb2) and I'm working on Bb4 and above, because my tone changes at B4 since it's out of my supported range.
When I was like 11. My voice was deep and I always wanted to be a tenor I was a baritone then. My vocal range before was Eb2 - G4 - C6. I didn't support belts before. Now my voice change, I just kept practising. Now my vocal range is F2 - Bb5 - F6 - Bb7. My support is B2 - E5 - Eb6. Now I'm a high tenor, but my speaking voice is around C3 -D3. So yeah...
camila // cc1 your voice can't become higher, only lower lol i'm a dramatic tenor with a belting range of G1-D6 and whistles up to C8 and growls & fry down to B-1

Kinda funny that Alex Newell is in this competition. He's probably more suitable competing with females (speaking of vocal fach). It's like comparing a high Mezzo with Tenors on F5. lol
Support is a technical issue... there are tons of girls having no support above A4 and you won't call them tenors. If he can sing A4 in ease with no support he's most likely not a tenor lol It's high for most tenors already.

Try to make your mix as balanced as possible (if you are a male then you will need to be heady but still try to make it as near as balanced as you can) keep your larynx stable, maintain your breath support, use mask placement and don't use too much air.
