@thechangeofyes8179 yes, but not for opera. Opera singers train in a very specific way and have a very recognizable timbre and resonance to their voice (squillo) that takes years to develop and enables them to project in theaters without a mic. Phelps has an amazing voice and surely has a rounder sound, closer to opera than other pop singers but he didn't train for opera so he can't sing opera. If he did he would make a great opera singer, but he didn't and that's fine.

Olivier Pataut Have you heard his speaking voice? Compare his voice to someone like Mitch Grassi, and you can easily distinguish David as a natural baritone.
Back in early 2000s, he went to the doctor and discovered something. Most of the tenors has a rectangular shape larynx. Straight from the front to the back with little space in between. But Davids is different. He's doctor said he has a triangular vocal box. Wide in the front (Baritone), and thin in the back (tenor). That's why he's able to sing in the 2nd octaves all the way up to the 5th octave.
I think he is classically trained so he lowers just a bit his larynx to sound more full ... but I don't know him very much ... someone else can maybe explain it better ...
everyone who can sing a D5 (and can generally support) can do that. Breath support has nothing to do with the pitch. Breath support is done by the abdominal muscles that control diaphragm contraction, the pitch is added by your vocal cords. So you support with your torso, and add a pitch in your throat. The moment the air reaches your throat and receives a pitch, it alsready is either supported or not.
Resonance is optimal singing quality . It's when you have full breath support . No tension . An open throat / relaxed larynx and raised soft palate along with vowel modifications and shaping of mouth to achieve additional resonance . So the sound is full and round yet effortless... Good example is Lara Fabian
Amore Arusko the throat can be tensed and clenched up proven by medicine. Resonance isn't a sound it's a formant. Therefore to have the most resonance you need to sing on open vowels like Ahh where the formants the loudest. The larynx hightens by belting but not as much as you presume, too high of a larynx is bad and muffles sound, not allowing the formant to shine. The higher formants produce twang or squillo which is a brilliant, bright sound, that if left unchecked causes the sound to be strident, shrill, screamy and thin. Countering with darkening techniques such as a raised palet give it more power and allows it to float more easily. This is the base of the chiaroscuro technique. All of this has been proven by science
Amore Arusko but again you'd rather believe hack jobs than a technique that has allowed people to sing over orchestras with 50 or even 100 instruments without a mic.

Yeah...going to South Korea to train my voice. bye.

David Phelps is so good OMG. Best one for me tbh

David Phelps, Master Belter. King of Resonance.
David Phelps and Jeffrey Lewis are out of this world....
exo chen and sandeul are just lit af
Love all of these
You should add Hwanhee too. He is a baritone with very good technique ( support up to G#4 ) My English is bad sorry :3
Thanh long Nguyen ngoc agree!
He's infact a low tenor
That's the reason why I love my Vocal type, which is "TENOR."
mitchyyy
Amazing video!
Please listen to Leonardo Gonçalves, i think he's very good.

Jeffrey Lewis you killed it😍😍
Thanks for amazing video guy's 😍
And let me ask, where dimash btw?
Dimash wasn't here bcuz he can't resonate any of his note. He practically strained his entire mixed voice.
Andreanata Noivan He supports G4 pretty consistently
SuperPianogirl123 you sure about that? Bcuz I can hear that he didn't have support on E4 already.
Andreanata Noivan Absolutely positive, his vibrato is just... Mhmm
SuperPianogirl123 I know about his vibrato tho lol. But I still can't fully agree with him actually being able to support his mixed voice. Welp do you know any example you can provide where he's able to support in this area?
Edit : & you said he can consistently supports up to G4. But since this is a video about resonance, does he resonate any of them tho?
great video, congrats❤
Where is Dimash??
Chen have a good A4 resonance note. He might be a good vocalist in K-Pop.
JEREMY JORDAN 😍
Thank you for making male video. We can sing too lol 😂😙🎵🎙
Lmao i cant even hit B4 and C5 properly lmao
How DARE you misrepresent my cinnamon roll Mitch like that I will FIND YOU
I need Hyoshin's C5😂😂
Its just only support.
@@gaminggalleryph 어쩌라고요
@@wogkr What do you mean??? I am not good in korean. Also, if resonant, maybe it was not consistent.
Not resonant
Yes he is!
David phelps...
bow down to David Phelps and Jeremy Jordan
You forgot to add Johnny Cook to this list. He died in 2000. He sang with the Happy Goodmans. He sang in his natural voice. They called him high c. Listen to On Silver Wings.
Jeremy Jordan yessss
Most resonance actually comes from the mic. It amplifies the voice
And about opera singers?
Awesome videos!👌
YES JEREMY JORDAN 😍
Me chesting a Bb4 would be like Xtina chesting a Bb5
That 💩 ain’t gonna happen😂😂
I can head voice a resonant C6 tho
Scotty and Mitchy is here 💗
David Phelps 👌🏻
