Good info! I did an iron butt on my 50th birthday from casper wyoming to Sacramento ca on my road king classic. That was 15 years ago. Main thing i did, stay hydrated!
Iv rode my motorcycle from Rockford Illinois to Bascom Florida many many times. I would say at least 20 times. It just happens to be just over 1000 miles. I would do the trip straight, and I would be on the road for 18 hours. I never knew this was a challenge or that I could win an award for doing it. I traveled for work and it was all about saving money on plane tickets. Honda VT 750 Amerian Classic Addition. Aka the Honda Ace
I Have done 7ea S.S.1000 on Ultra Classic, FJR and a KTM and 1 bun burner on the FJR. 3 days after I reitred I did a Bun Burner Gold. I did 1577 miles in 21hrs & 39 minutes on KTM1290. My KTM has an 8 Gallon tank I can get 325 miles out of a tank. I stopped every 275 miles so I only needed 6 stops. I had a plan for every stop with a back up gas stations just in case. To prepare after I layed out my route with every stop. I did mental imaging of my ride stop by stop in my head during the winter months once a week. this way when i did it for real it would seem easy and it did. I have rode this route many times in the past so I knew how long it should take to get to certain areas. I have attempted the B.B. gold 4 times I had to abort 3 times do to either severe weather, construction or traffic with accidents. I am now planning on doing the IBA 48/10 laying out the route for next spring. They riders who do the IBA rally are road warriors
I'm glad for riders that do these IB's, but they're not for me... #1 I don't like riding on highways(even on my touring bike). #2 I ride for the pleasure and enjoyment of it, seems like with all the constraints and pressure it would be hard to find enjoyment.
@@HOLYSHIFT .. I know, I remember you talking about it in a previous video. When I plan my rides, say to Florida or anywhere, I budget the time and plan off highway routes. If time is a factor, I'll haul the bike in my truck, like my trip to Nova Scotia.
I was distracted for a minute and picked it up at 4:33 , where I thought he was talking MPH or Km/Hr. LoL! Totally possible on a set up Kawasaki ZX14R . ( closer to my style of touring.)
Hey Sandy, I took a screen shot of your video sequence to help me plan for all the excellent points you made. I have not seen anyone else condense these important like you did. Thanks. I may never do 1000 miles in one day but I have done an easy 943 Km from Warren, NJ to Hanover Ontario in 10 hours.
Hey Sandy! For the 10,000 mile trip that you are planning to do this summer with John... I assume you are planning to do this on the Goldwing, and not the Lowrider ST, right?
This might seem hardcore to you, but if I needed gas receipt an pumps were out of paper for said receipt I'd act on it after I got home. I'd be calling gas companies. Telling them I need receipt for fuel stops. If I don't get recipes then I won't buy gas there. An I'll tell every biker to do the same! Still no receipt to to step two!😅

Hope you enjoyed the video ! 👍🏻
That’s a long ride too !!!
Great advise Sandy thank you!! Looking forward to your summer trip out west!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Me too!!😂👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
My experience has been in my area they don’t refill the paper at the pumps cause it saves them money. Most people don’t want a receipt I think.
I guess so.. I think they’re just lazy
the deer are most active between 1am & 6am
That was cool

Well… that’s yet to be determined…
Great information Sandy thanks,
Thank you
Great information !!
Can u send me information to about the iron butt challenge
What are the “rules” for this challenge? Asking from a slight cheating perspective….i am a long haul trucker, 30 years😂. KLR 650.

Are you on a GW?
I enjoy the videos but a ad every 3 minutes is a bit much.(respectively)
