    I did the same ride 10 years ago from eastern PA to Branson, MO for the first leg (1000 in 24 hours) then continued from Branson, MO to a little town east of Effingham, IL (1500 in 36 hours) on a 2006 Kawasaki Nomad. I did the 1500 SS Gold in 2017 from eastern PA to Tampa, Fl in 23 hours. Then added 500 miles to South Carolina to make it a 2000 mile in 2 days ride on my 2015 Victory Vision. My last ride I just completed in July was for the Ultimate Coast to Coast from Prudhoe Bay, AK to Key West, FL. I had to ride up to Prudhoe from PA (seven days). Eight days to get to Key West, and then two days back home. 11,978 miles total in 17.5 days on my 2015 Vision. The Alaska to Key West ride was the most intense, white knuckled, and exhilarating ride I ever did.

      Sorry, had to correct myself the 1500 SS Gold should be BB Gold.

      I'm jealous, I want to do the Prudhoe ride. Thanks for the story.

    Congratulations for your 1500 miles ride. I'm up in Canada and we have snaller rides under 24 hours, like the 2000km that I've done twice in 2022 and the 1600 (1000miles) that I did in 2022 also. This, year, I should try the 2500km (1500 miles) but after I've done another smaller Iron Butt that I am not sure yet. One important gear to have on your bike is rain gear that can be used for rain and to keep the wind out. Many hours on your bike, in the wind will make your body temperature drop, (at least for me). ha ha ha

    Welcome to the club!! Good video. I did the Saddle Sore 1000 in 24 hours last year. I started at 4:30am and finished by 9:00pm. My route was taking I-90 from Buffalo, WY to Missoula, MT and back. This is totally allowed to do a round trip like this. Here are some things to consider for anyone interested in doing this:
    1. Leave early in the am, I left at 4:00am so I only had to ride in the dark for about the first 60 minutes - I got finished just about sunset.
    2. I purposely chose to ride westbound in the morning and then eastbound on the return - this way the sun was always at my back. Avoiding the sun in your eyes reduces fatigue.
    3. I chose this stretch of road because it's 100% interstate with light traffic, no major city traffic to contend with and the speed limit is 80mph for the most part.
    4. I did it in mid June, so the days were at their longest.
    5. Had I done a full 1,500 miles, I could have had a good night sleep, then left again the next morning at 4:00am and would have been done with the remaining 500 miles by noon easily.

    Well done. It's def a type 2 kind of fun lol
    I'll add to your tips:
    -Do stretches at every stop. Learn some basic yoga stretches for your shoulders, lower back, and maybe throw in Downward Dog to stretch your calves. I know it sounds silly but seriously, stretching is the difference between just being uncomfortable vs feeling like your whole body is frozen the next day. You did mention posture, but just moving your but into different positions on the seat while you're riding can relieve areas of tension. Be aware of your muscles, if your jaw starts to tighten up make a conscious effort to relax your jaw and neck muscles.
    -I'll also add chapstick and sunscreen to your addition of eyedrops lol

    • @HollywoodRebel
      @HollywoodRebel  4 роки тому +1

      Very good tips! Thanks!! I always carry chapstick since living in the desert so I hadn't thought of it. Definitely stretching, moving around. At one point I was sitting up on the tank just to get a better and different position.

      I agree, stretching while the tank fills is my trick.

    Another tip, carry a one gallon spare gas can in case one of your planned gas stops is out of order. You can't stress staying hydrated enough, drink water at each stop while you're stretching and and fueling up. Great job and keep safe.

    I just did the 1000 in 24hrs and it wasn't too bad at all. this year is the Bun Burner Gold 1500 in 24hrs and it's gonna suck lol. I would say bring some food with you like a sub sandwich or something easily accessible and while taking a break laying in the grass really helped me regain some energy. Also, I used an AirHawk aircushion and it made it a DREAM!!! Great Vid Bro *subscribed*

    I did 1073 miles in 18 hours and 2 minutes and then got 1562 miles in 34 hours and 41 minutes on a Harley Super Glide in 2007. My biggest tip is to use highway pegs, your normal pegs/boards and passenger pegs in all combinations. Climb around on the bike from the very start to not get sore in any one position.

    back in 2011 I rode from Philadelphia, PA to Mobile, AL one time. Rode all day and night into the next day. Never knew about the saddle sore 1000 until a guy at work mentioned it. Fortunately, I was able to document after the fact. Thought about going for a bun burner next. Thanks for posting.

    Def a fun video to watch. Doing these kinds of runs in the western deserts is the best! We've stayed at the Clown Motel twice. Cheap, clean and weird. Brother this was an outstanding video to share! First you had a great bike packed up absolutely perfect. Those short stops to eat sitting in the grass, resting, stretching out a few minutes, is so much wiser than heading into a restaurant to get seated, unless you are way ahead of schedule. Eating light and staying hydrated can’t be suggested enough. I’ve always heard guys say plan on covering an extra 80 to 100 miles over your target to insure there’s no way you come up a few miles short. I like that 2500 mi idea in 48 hours. That’s a must. The other that might be fun is the Three Flags Run..... Start in Mexico, run north thru the US, and finish in Canada (three flags ie: three Countries) in like 36 hours or whatever it is. Check it out!

    Them kind of miles on a bike would hard as hell. I run OTR in a truck for over 37 years & 2400 miles in 48 hours was had & I had a bed to cat a short nap in, carried 300 gallons of fuel & 18 wheels to keep me from falling over. Anyone that says it's easy has no idea.

    • @HollywoodRebel
      @HollywoodRebel  2 роки тому +1

      Generally I shoot at 23.98fps at 180 degree shutter or roughly 1/48th. Sometimes I shoot in 60fps so I have the ability to slow the footage down.
