He was right about fitness of our players. There was a huge difference in the way we used to field and how Australian and English players did! We have seen major changes in our team since the time we have started taking fitness seriously. It was harsh criticism but it was true!

This change was due demands of the modern game as if you are not fit you literally cannot play the 3 formats. Plus our culture also evolved as more people are into fitness than ever before. And that was the exact difference between that era of Indian team & Australian teams. Well the Aggression started by Ganguly, and then What MSD & Virat brought as the strict Fitness culture & to top it, the Aggressiveness of Kohli- and we witnessed that we were No.1 Test Team for 5 Yrs straight & also in Top Spots in White ball cricket as well. When the "monkey" incident happened I remember in conversation we thought it was "Ma Ki!" that was probably said. I understand Symonds position in the moment. I also understand that Harbhajan wouldn't have said monkey. As for him calling the players lazy... compare those players to today's players. Leaps and bounds in fitness, fielding, core strength and endurance. HE WAS RIGHT but harsh in his delivery. And India and by default Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, have better quality in their players.

We all know that in the India team there are camps and while Sachin is the truth embodiment of a gentleman in the sport, Harbhajan is a product of Dadagiri. Human stories tend to have human emotions and flaws (jumping to conclusions). For fans of India and Harbhajan he kept growing and improving as time went on and Symonds lit a fire under young Indian players who now are without a doubt proving to be the most fit and deep international team.

In India, we Majority percentage of people are LAZY in all sectors, be it in Education(homeworks, assignments) , sports(workouts, practice sessions), govt job, pvt job(Updating to new technologies) & etc. But slowly now its changing but it takes lot of time as our system is designed in such way.

I was sydney when Symonds passed away in Queensland in a car accident. I was in shock after hearing that news. He was the final frontier of indian team during those days, during a test in india when his whole team was down he scored a century and his partership with brad hogg made Aussies scored 463 and India lost the match. We wouldn’t have won the world cup if Pathan hadn’t bowled him in the 2007 semifinal. Symonds wa pure talent and fearsome cricketer.Unfortunately We can’t see him play again , but his legacy will stay forever. Harabhajan as an individual not a good person , he must have called him Monkey.

Hats off to u sir, I’ve seen a lot of content on symonds after his death from former players to other UA-camrs but this video by far has correctly described him and given the exact picture of his mental state post monkey gate. He was flawed definitely but he is my favourite player and will remain till my end of days and this video is not a tribute to his playing days but actually an insight to his character, which makes this video different from other videos. Roy played 198 odi from 1998 to 2009 which was the golden era of Australian cricket. He was a warrior and he would take a bullet for his mates Roy also won 2 world cup and 1 champions trophy he was the greatest to play the game. How he can be broken man? There are perception in life some people will have great carrier some will have great family all are man made things .....for me ROY will be remembered as a great guy and true friend for his mates

When the "monkey" incident happened I remember in conversation we thought it was "Ma Ki!" that was probably said. I understand Symonds position in the moment. I also understand that Harbhajan wouldn't have said monkey.
As for him calling the players lazy... compare those players to today's players. Leaps and bounds in fitness, fielding, core strength and endurance. HE WAS RIGHT but harsh in his delivery. And India and by default Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, have better quality in their players.

We all know that in the India team there are camps and while Sachin is the truth embodiment of a gentleman in the sport, Harbhajan is a product of Dadagiri. Human stories tend to have human emotions and flaws (jumping to conclusions). For fans of India and Harbhajan he kept growing and improving as time went on and Symonds lit a fire under young Indian players who now are without a doubt proving to be the most fit and deep international team.

I was sydney when Symonds passed away in Queensland in a car accident. I was in shock after hearing that news. He was the final frontier of indian team during those days, during a test in india when his whole team was down he scored a century and his partership with brad hogg made Aussies scored 463 and India lost the match. We wouldn’t have won the world cup if Pathan hadn’t bowled him in the 2007 semifinal. Symonds wa pure talent and fearsome cricketer.Unfortunately We can’t see him play again , but his legacy will stay forever. Harabhajan as an individual not a good person , he must have called him Monkey.

People who witnessed Australian team back then would know what a real dominance of champions was once like and Andrew Symonds was certainly centre part of it with his attitude on the bench.

'Maa Ki' is a more offensive word than 'monkey' for those who understand Hindi. Whatever Symonds' faults, Harbhajan had no business uttering those words. Anyways, it is good that both of them settled their differences.

he was probably the most unique player australia had, his batting technique was unorthodox but he had raw power so when he hit the ball it stayed hit and he was quite handy with the ball too but his fielding was top notch he was so good on hitting the stumps when he was fielding i still remember that robin uthappa run out in 2007 t20 wc, that was pure gem, we all will miss him, RIP Symonds!
