Yes, the "good looking bloke" has a five octave range and actually wrote this song!
Tim started in high school as a tenor and that is how he developed his upper range
Ah, I didn't know that! Learn something new everyday :)
He said he was a late bloomer when his bass hit
fun fact about tim foust, he had actually been classically training tenor in his teen years, he only became a bass singer later because he was a late bloomer when his voice dropped. as a result, he's been training with both voice types, which allows him to use a full 5 octave range while sounding so good with it.
I'm trying to suppress my jealousy haha He's just soo good! 😂
I heard them live this past weekend and Tim's bass notes literally made the seats vibrate, even where I was on the mezzanine level.
This is an original & it's Tim Foust that co-wrote it ! By the way Chance is covering the bass in this one most of the time ! :) Yes Chance was helping Adam on some of the percussion. PLEASE react to more Home Free :) Huge fan here....they are just pretty amazing.
For sure, Chance has a great voice/range too! I've listened to a fair amount of their stuff and they always impress!
Glad you liked my reaction 😊
@@OwenAlec awesome dude and thans for getting back to me. Have you heard the one that dropped yesterday ? If not hold off on that one to do soon thought since its a Christmas song, but boy is it special..."Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, featuring the Oak Ridge Boys & Jeffrey East
I'll try and get that video done in the next day or two and release it on Christmas day maybe?
@@OwenAlec that would be awesome, that was my favorite part of the Home Free Holiday Special...it's just magical
I think Chance also did the "synth" sound in their End of the Road cover
Absolutely love this song. Home Free can't do a bad song. These guys are amazing.💗
Tim has a 5 octave range. He is absolutely amazing. This group is so versatile with what they do. Darren Rust is the one making that sound.
No Adam Chance did that sound nice try
@@robertboling9057 In the live stream Q & A it was confirmed by the group that Darren Rust added that sound effect and it wasn't made by Adam or Chance.
@@robertboling9057 I've been seeing all over that Tim said that their producer Darren Rust is the one doing that sound. At first I thought it would be coming from Chance as well, since he did the mouth harp so well in another song.
Nothing like some doo-wop to make your day!!!
The bassguitar, should be Darren's vocal tribute to the song.
And you are right about their lack of ego, because they are a true democracy, and united votes for who sings what.
In "Cold hard cash", Austin wanted Rob in the lead, but the rest wanted Austin to lead.
So democracy :)
Best way to keep a band going imo 👌
Adam Rupp was the World Champion Beatboxer 2 yrs straight. He has a drum solo out on UA-cam.
Ooo, might just have to give that a watch! Cheers 😊
This information is not correct but it keeps getting shared - it wasn't the World Championship but the Harmony Sweepstakes that he won twice.
@@OwenAlec I have quite a few of his concert solos on my page that you can take a look at and/or react to. I'd look for the one that's about 10 mins long and from either 2018 or 2019. He's recently made them shorter so that 10min one will give you a good idea of what he does.
Tim with the Fonzi look.
Aaaaaayyyy! 👍😁👍
5 Octave Tim really showcases it on Josh Turner's "Your Man!"
This is a fun one. Tim wrote it. Yeah, he’s just showing off his 5 octave range here. Chance does a good job with the bass - he has a 4 octave range I believe. Adam is crushing it here and I understand Darren Rust (Home Free’s producer) does the guitar twangy sound. Can’t go wrong with Home Free! If you love bass try Misty Mountains with Tim and Peter Hollens. It’s fabulous and Folsom Prison Blues. Tim and Chance go low. Keep reacting!
Folsom Prison Blues is definitely one of my favourites to sing right now, but they perform it SOOO GOOD!!
sorry I repeated you!! I didn't read down first:(
Yes, Tim is definitely a Good Looking Bloke 🙃💖‼️. His wife is a darling blonde ...they’re so cute together 💖‼️
Tim wrote this. Thank you for doing Home Free
5 Octave super-bass Tim (front) wrote this awesome song, w/crazy high notes + slide even higher, switching bass w/4 octave bass Chance -low affected bass notes, Rob's + Austin's awesome chorus/harmonies + Adam's amazing beats..It's 💜💜💜💜
They've definitely got a winning line up there! 🤯💙
The album Warmest Winter has songs on it that were originally written by Tim Foust and Austin Brown. Tim wrote 3 and Austin wrote 3. So all the songs they sing is written by them other than their special guest performances.
This is definitely a one of a kind Christmas Album and I’m definitely a Happy Home Fry! 🍟
Tim Foust wrote Snow Globe, Christmas AIn’t For The Lonely and What We Need Is Love. Austin Brown Co-wrote Warmest Winter with Jeffery East and I think either Winter Song or Cold Hard Cash?? Not sure about his second song. I was corrected.
Tim wrote 3. Austin wrote 2.
Subscribed. Here for your Home Free reactions. I'm not a singer but I know I love their songs . It's lovely to hear a reaction from someone who is knowledgeable about it. I imagine you'll get some more Home Fries as they're a very loyal crowd who love seeing someone new react to HF & get just 'get' it. Thanks for the reaction.
I'm new to your channel so I'm not sure if you have reacted to "Do You Hear What I Hear" by Home Free. It's an amazing version of the song and you get a good taste of Tim's range in a very short span of time if you pay attention to him. Also there is a video of Tim talking about how he gets so low and he says that using his upper register and strengthening it it helps to support the lower register. I don't know I can't carry a tune in a bucket with both hands.
I haven't yet but I definitely will be doing (Hopefully on Christmas day) so stay tuned 😉
@@OwenAlec it is my favorite song by Home Free.
Have you tried Adam Rupp of Home Free Drum Solo he’s swallowed a full drum kit for breakfast.
I've heard it's pretty good, so I'll be checking it out soon :)
Apparently, their producer, Darin Rust, also has quite a large vocal range. He arranges a lot of their music, and Tim has said that he sings each part and sends it to the guys to learn before they record it. You can see Darin in their Christmas video of Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. He's the one whose house the guys go into.
This is an original and a favorit of mine These guys can be cheesy with me anytime lol 😂
Haha I know what you mean 🤣 They could get away with anything!
I purchased their new Christmas album, and this song really stuck out as a "keeper." haha. Thank you for reacting to Home Free.
LOVE THIS ORIGINAL😍
ADAM CHANCE is Baritone and covers bass as well.
Listen to Greensleeves with Tim & Peter Hollens! Tim’s range will blow you away!! This has kind of a Doo Wop feel!! This Waemesr Winter album has several originals.. sentimental & silly tracts! Listen to Adam Rupps drum solo! Another incredible performance!! Merry Christmas!
I'll give them a listen, thanks 😊
Dang you did it again! You looked away just before Chance took over the Lead from Tim!
I watched his how to sing low video and he said that stretching himself to sing high is one of his techniques for singing low.
Love from a Home Fry!! Thanks for your reaction!❤
Thanks for watching 😊
OK...I found the video with Tim proposing to Jenika ...”Die a Happy Man” cover by Thomas Rhett. It’s so sweet. Chance does the lead on it. It’s a really neat video. I think you’d like it 💖🙃‼️
That sound is Adam...
By that I mean the sound you hear at the beginning.
Darren Russ, their producer, has been credited with the wah, wah, wah, wah. Saw it on another post
Fair enough, certainly a hood idea to include it 😀
I think his last name is Rust. He’s a talented singer in his own right and a member of the Blenders a capella group from back when.
@@electricmayhem6577 you're right. Typo. Lol. I follow the Blenders too. Thanks for catching it.
Tim taught Geoff Castalucci and Avi Kaplan in this technique!
Your subharmonic is coming along nicely. Some fun drum fills are in End of the Road. I also saw some one recommend Blue Ain't Your Color. I will second that.
Thank you very much! It's a tough technique to get but hopefully I'll be able to use it in my own music soon 😀 I'll add your recommendation to the list
Tim actually started voice training as a tenor then later discovered he was good at bass too. Love your reaction to them.
My mom would have loved this one, she was a big Doo Wop fan. This turned out great. It's another one of theirs I can't get out of my head. Thanks! ^_^
May I suggest checking out one of Adam Rupp's (beatboxer) solo videos
I'm laughing to myself. As you are calling the lyrics "cheesy" I see your eyes lighting up and just getting sucked in. Love it. I'd rather call it sweet. lol
Oh yes, they are cheesy, but it's most definitely not a bad thing! They are sweet lyrics, written and performed by a beautiful, warm and talented band and I love them!
Old school feel. Amazing
Thanks, just subscribed. Have you watched them do Blue Ain't Your Color? It has this same type of do-wop vibe to it. Rob takes the lead with his super smooth voice. And, they do Righteous Brothers type choreo. Love it too! Take care.
I think I have seen that one, but ill watch it again just to be sure 😉 Thanks for watching, take care!
Full of Cheer & Champagne Taste (on a Beer Budget)are also original songs(cowritten/written by Tim) that have an element of humour to them.
the guitar sound is from their producer's voice-Darren Rust..they call their 6th man
I could listen to you react to Home Free all day long! ^i^
You're too kind ☺ I could definitely listen to HF all day haha
New subscriber here, because of Home Free !! Thanks you for a great reaction to my favorite group of Very talented guys !!!
My pleasure, thank you for joining the family! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays 😊
I really liked your reaction - thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I’d be interested of your reaction to Home Free’s Mary Did You Know? In my opinion the beat boxing on their version is truly special!
The guitar like sounds so much like the technique called throat bass, which has been made famous by the beatboxing community. So hear some related sounds like that, the best boxers called Codfish and inertia use it really well @owenalec
I love this song written by Tim. He does a great job and it should be a classic.
Tin Foust has a 5 octave range. If you haven't seen the video from his album of doo-wop, watch "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay". Austin Brown and Rob Lundquist have a video that will really surprise you "Two Country Singers Try Singing Opera". Tim and Austin are both song writers and have a variety of music out there. All of them are so multi-talented! Thanks so much for your analysis and insights.
Thank you for an intelligent reaction to this Home Free song. I love their music and you have articulated why I enjoy it.
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it 😊
That specific sound, at 1:10, sounds like an electric guitar. Specifically a Fender Stratocaster ( I think). Used in a lot of songs in the 50s.
Would love to see your response to thier cover of Folsum Prison Blues!
That ones already on repeat on my YT playlist... phenomenal arrangement and performance!!
First time to your channel, enjoyed this reaction very much - a gem of a song co-written by Tim.
So glad you liked the video 😁 It certainly is a gem 💎
This is indeed an original song of theirs, written by Tim (may have been a collab, but not sure). Tim also said that that interesting vocal effect is done by their producer Darren Rust, still a vocal. And yes, I thought it was Chance at first due to his version of mouth harp in Man of Constant sorrow.
Yeah that seems to be the general consensus 😊 Still awesome to hear
Very nice reaction and review. Tim's range is just so crazy. You should see more of their older videos like Mayday, Thinkin of You (Let's get it on), End of the Road, and even more older video like "What we ain't got" and "Your Man". There was also a video where Tim apparently 'broke' one of the speakers.
One of my recent favorites, "Down to Honkytonk", where Chance takes the lead, and oooh boy his voice is so good
Chance, Chance, Chance! Dude!
Excellent reaction, love your commentary.
Thanks very much 😀
Fantastic 🔥🔥🔥🍟
Listen to Adam Rupp Drum solo from Home Free. For more of Tim's range try a live version of Your Man.
This is a technique called vocal belting I believe which helps to keep your chest voice from mixing and then goes into the falsetto and sounding absolutely incredible doing it
It's certainly impressive to hear Tim pulling it off!
It sure is I love his voice if I could sound like him I would be set for life lol
IT IS NOT CHEESY !!!!!!!!!! This is how people are supposed to feel. Agggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Cheesy isn't a bad thing, I love this song and how it makes me feel 😊
@@OwenAlec Oh my , didn't expect a reply! well thank you. I just get tired of the word cheesy, (maybe because I'm from WI *chuckle trauma?) It's really a term a lot of people use without knowing How to use it. It's only cheesy if you don't Feel it but are tying to use it as a line with a hidden agenda. Home Free are exactly who they seem to be . Sorry I also all cap because I can't see the freeking font on UA-cam yup I'm OLD . so thanks again for the reply. as for click track , everything has some kind of ref. for timing. That is just the electronic version of a Conductor .
❤❤❤❤❤
I like that its a great country waltz to dance with your lady :) !! Merry Christmas to you & yours sir !!
I don't have a lady to dance with but maybe next year ;) haha
Thanks very much, Merry Christmas and all the best to you and your family! 🎄
@@OwenAlec patience is a virtue in the game of love !
Patience, I have... good looks, I do not! Haha 😄
@@OwenAlec now now now keep your chin up :) I found my wife in college, before that hardly a date in high school
Just saw your reaction to this song. Tim's range is amazing with how low and high he can go. Austin, Rob and Chance are also amazing and they even let Adam sing sometimes. :) Thank you for your reaction. Merry Christmas to you and yours!
Thanks for watching and commenting, Merry Christmas to you too 😁
cold hard cash by home free
Subbed. Thanks for a fun reaction!
Looking forward to you talking more about Adam’s drumming and the choises he makes!
Thank you for the support 😊
Nice reaction!
Owen, I know you want people to comment, so here goes. You talk about a "chest voice" , and therein lies trouble for a singer. It's the diaphragm that is used to help with important stuff such as breathing, as with some notes or a particular key, you need to be prepared to reach down almost to the tip of your toes, and bring the voice up through the body, the diaphragm, up , up and then out via the mouth. I am a Vocalist, well trained many years now. I do enjoy singing along with many songs as it's good for the spirit, the brain, the mood. Practice, practice practice. Use humming to get yourself into the low stuff. You can't go to falsetto if you don't use other parts of you to help your instrument. Good luck. Tim is great !
For sure, the terminology in the industry can be sometimes a little outdated but I suppose anyone who pursues singing properly will learn the correct techniques. Thanks 😊
If your interested to hear Adam Rupp’s Singing voice and not just beat box How Great Thou Art is one of the VERY few song where he sings his voice is great!
They don’t use click tracks that I know of. It was most likely Adam (beatboxer) who does all different types of sounds aside from beatboxing. It could also be Chance or any of the guys. They all are very capable of different sound effects. (If you’re talking about the “woosh” or “shhh” sound. The only time they may use anything would be a looper (live) to record their own vocals like when they perform Ed Sheeran’s “Castle On the Hill” to give it the fuller sound. This is an original o-written by Tim. I think you may have missed a quick and cool part of Adam’s beatboxing filler after the first part of Chance’s solo. Anyway, I’m new here and just found your channel because of Home Free.
The majority of artists use a click track in a studio these days, especially when overdubbing, as its the best way to ensure tightness and accuracy, however I can imagine they don't need it live! It's definitely a click track I can hear at the start, because it's the exact same one that I use when recording in ProTools 😊 It was probably just a production oversight, not a big deal. Doesn't take away from the fact that they're awesome and super talented musicians!
It's interesting that we are able to hear the click track in the video but not in the actual audio-only version on say, ITunes or Spotify, cause since it's not on those I wouldn't expect for it to be in the video cause don't they just lay the audio of the song over the video?
Now I am just guessing 🙈
But this is a green screen video I believe and the click track is used to sync them all??
But I can be totally wrong 😂
Love to see you react to Home Free’s Do You Hear What I Hear
I will be doing very shortly, stay tuned 😉
Brad Steele says hi.
Thanks for coming over, I'll be sure to go say hi back! 😉
🥰🥰
Chance 😁
Sorry what you hear here you would hear in live concert. That swishing sounds is Adam as a brush over drum think it's called snare drum. You need to watch his Drum Solo
Chance was doing some of the Jews harp at the end of Man of Constant Sorrow
Tim actually had a solo career and a band, I think before Home Free.
Listen to Run Run Rudolph for insane beat boxing...
It's the versatility of these guys that is astounding and as well as you said they always cover each others weakness (if there is any weaknesses - but I get what you mean LOL)
Every little thing the other vocals lend to the sound makes all the parts come together as a wonderful whole - no egos whatsoever and they all just seem to have so much fun in what they do.
They're the kinda guys us guys would love to hang with....
You're such a hoot - keep up the good reactions!!
Merry Christmas to you and your fam! (First time seeing your channel and now you'll have to put up with me.....)
RichieC
They're a one-of-a-kind group for sure! So impressive! Merry Christmas to you too, welcome to the channel and I'm looking forward to hearing your thoughts on my future vids :)
Copy that!!
Adam's beatboxing shines in their covers of Can't Stop the Feeling, Love Train, and When You Walk In (an original), to name a few.
Great reaction, Sir. And Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄
I'll check those out, thanks 😊 Merry Christmas to you too! 🎄
@@OwenAlec , as you know, these guys are known for their harmonies. For a real taste of them, give a listen to their version of How Great Thou Art( the beatboxer, Adam, actually sings a small solo in this), and their cover of I Can't Outrun You.
lots of bass battles etc here....Tim has an 5 octave range
Merry Christmas! 🎄 I really enjoyed your break down here. You mentioned other reactions to Home Free and Pentatonix. Have you posted those videos? I couldn't find them in your video list. Could you maybe collect them into playlists?
Thanks, glad you liked the video. I haven't done reactions to those, I've just listened to them a lot in my own time, but I'm planning on doing reactions to the ones I haven't heard yet, in the future 😅
Tim Foust wrote that song.
listen to Adam Rupps drum solo
Adam Chance not Chase 😃
Maybe while you are writing Stuff down, stop the video because you MISSED a real good Surprise before the 2:40 Mark!
BTW I so far like your response, dancing in your seat!
If I like the rest of this video I'll Subscribe to your UA-cam Channel!😜👍😎
This one is a Tim song 🙃‼️💖
And, Yes he’s GOOD LOOKIN ...& his wife is a darlin blonde ...they’re precious together 🙃‼️🙃
An add on...they did (the video) in the huge hall called “The Steel Mill”...it was where they did their Christmas Special.
It's Chance not chase, and yes he does those interesting sounds.
Can i please ask what you write during songs
Pentatonix “bohemian rhapsody”
You sure Adam isn't doing the click track?
It's definitely the exact same sound as the click track inside ProTools. It's not a big deal at all, I only mentioned it because it surprised me haha
Subscribed but please stop the Video while you are writing Stuff down, because you miss too much!
Thanks for subscribing! I know there's a couple of bits that maybe slip past me but even when I'm writing, I'm still listening 😉 To be honest, I just really hate stopping the music because you lose the feel and can't be fully immersed in the song , the way the artist intended you to be. I'll definitely try to be more 'focused' next time! Thanks again for the support 😀
@@OwenAlec But by stopping you won't miss anything! Then you can rewind the video up to re-watch and listen to fully! Watching the video is as important as listening especially when it comes to Home Free videos! They are an exceptional group of singers! I have enjoyed your postings although I need to delve into them more to see more of your selection! Cheers to you and thank you for your response!😜👍
