- I want to thank those that have requested this song as it's the perfect ending to 2021. I wish each of you all the happiness and blessings this coming year can bring!
"Hopelessly Hoping" is another song with amazing harmonies, but if you think your are ready and feel you understand each members roll with the group than you may be ready for "Mayday". The vocal percussion and harmonies will amaze you and it has a few surprises for those who are truely ready. Many persons reacting to "Mayday" are discouraged from doing so until they have listen to at least 8-9 of their songs and familiar with the group but you may be an exception.

Yes, I think he is ready for "Mayday". He (think) knows Tim bass voice, Chance baritone and Adams beatbox skills, the beautiful voices of Austin and Rob. He thing nothing can surprise him, he have heard all the angel sing and.... *blaaame!*

Another vote for Helplessly Hoping. It has amazing harmonies and timing.
The only group that has done the song justice. They add more meaning to the sentiment.
Home Free is such a rabbit hole to be going down.... They have more surprises than most other groups...
Tim is the low bass but Chance fills in a lot of that lower harmony.
Their richness of tone can not be overlooked. It's like listening to an organ....but with voices.
@Rick Knisely Adam Chance has an airy quality to his voice. Very soothing. The members I'm sure appreciate him after he took over for Chris.
And more and more the Home Fries are realizing what he brings to the group.
But it needs to be said more.
Chance fits perfectly into the group and he is just as musically versatile as the others. When you first said "that Bass" at the end of Tim's opening run, that was Chance coming in under Tim. Love your reactions and may you have a blessed New Year.
P.S. Chance also carries the bass on Mary Did You Know.
Saw a video today of Home Free (when recording studio is closed for the holiday) all in a shower stall singing Auld Lang Syne in the shower stall. Adam Rupp looked terrified. Tim, Adam, and Austin shot out leaving Chance and Rob with Chance's hand on the knobs! Too funny!
Beautiful song, and so is "Helplessly Hoping" as Audrey mentioned. But still my favorite harmonizing song of theirs is "Seven Bridges Road". i actually discovered Home Free, by looking up the Eagles performing this!
Seven Bridges Road rarely gets any love. I wonder if it's a copyright strike since it's an Eagles property.

The beauty of these guys is the fact that each have such unique textures to their voices as soloist, yet when they blend into the harmony, they unify all those unique textures into smooth as silk harmonic heaven. Usually performers have a solo voice or a background voice, but Home Free have all perfected both. And don't forget the beat boxer, Adam Rupp, who just abandons his wheel house to blend right in. Amazing!

Thank you for recognizing the arranger. This is someone who knows the “instruments” available to him and uses them to their fullest! Their individual talents are exceptional but collectively they are truly amazing! Great reaction!
They do this song live the same as the video. When the concert was over. The lights went down, they came back on stage with all 5 of them around the microphone. Besides them singing, the entire theater was quiet, no one talked, coughed, ect due to we all knew we were witness to something truly amazing. If you get a chance, see them!
What I love about these guys is how well their voices blend together. That and the fact that they all take turns singing lead.
When I first heard this, I thought maybe a choir of Angels had come down to earth to sing to me. Chills all over.
Larry this has been my GO TO for midnight the last 4 years...and it will be once again tonight. Larry, can you do one of their country covers...I believe you'll enjoy it....the harmonies are, as always, unbelievable, but also Adam the beatboxer shines, and you also get to see Chance lead for a change....it's "Some Girls Do" a cover of Sawyer Brown's 1990's country hit

They each are amazing in their own right but together they are simply genius! As others have mentioned Seven Bridges Road and Helplessly Hoping are definite highlights along with How Great Thou Art!
This was the very first Home Free song I ever heard. After this, I never stopped. Every song after this one, I had to hear. I've never once been disappointed, no matter what song they sing. Cover or not...They rock whatever they sing.. No matter the genre.. They rock it !! Never been so impressed with an a cappella band, as I am with these 5 guys.. In my opinion, they are far and away, the best a cappella band ever !!

HOME FREE collaborated with the late, great Kenny Rogers. The song is "CHILDREN, GO WHERE I SEND THEE" and is absolutely phenomenol! It shows the versatility of HOME FREE and is sooo beautiful! It could be a CHRISTMAS song but really it is a beautiful story of Christianity!!! This song is strong, powerful, and very "light" in it's vocal story! You will really miss so much if you don't hear this great song! It is extremely lovely and leaves you singing this song for days. IT IS ONE OF KENNY ROGERS LAST SONGS THAT HE RECORDED. PLEASE play this song, you will not regret it! HAPPY NEW YEAR to my new favorite reactor!!!

Many of Home Free’s arrangements are done by Darren Rust (the producer in this video). The guys consider him to be the sixth member of Home Free. He’s also a member of The Blenders, an a cappella group that’s been performing for many years. You have only scratched the service of the story of Home Free. BEAUTIFUL!!! ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!! Tim carried the bass throughout. His lead set the tone for this nostalgic piece. Austin, you sounded glorious. Robb...wonderful, Chance...you are always there where you are needed and so beautifully. And, then there is that fantastic freak of nature whose name is Adam Rupp!!! Together these guys turn the most unremarkable song into a MASTERPIECE. THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID WITH SONG!!! Thank you once again, HOME FREE, for giving me hope for the next year when I am a little disilousioned by the prospects of the upcoming year. This is my absolute favorite rendition of Auld Lang Syne I've ever heard. The harmonies are out of this world and they just kept it so traditional and didn't feel the need to "jazz it up" with beat boxing. As absolutely wonderful as Adam Rupp is at beat boxing, it just wouldn't have "fit" with this song so it was nice to see him singing.
The dynamics of the melodies and frequency coverage their voices provide makes the experience complete. They're pro's at it. And the guy at the board is Darren Rust...their producer and mastermind behind it all. Happy New Year to you and yours sir.

I've heard them sing this off-mic before, it was still as impressive.
The beginning of "Do you hear what I hear" also starts out not sounding like the tune , but in the next moment you know what your listening to. Their just so gloriously talented!. Nice reaction!

For pure harmonies from them check out Helplessly Hoping. I have come to realize when I listen to it, I almost stop breathing, it is just that stunning. I have also watched video of the performing it live, off mic and you could have heard a pin drop!

Short and most sweet this one is. I think the doubling up of the bass with Tim and Chance is what sets this apart. You were warned about this rabbit hole, no it's to late to turn back. I would very much like to see your reaction to Brothers in Arms.
Home Free competed in Season 4 of The Sing-Off, which ran during the month of December. You can find all of their Sing-Off Performances, including the judges' comments, on UA-cam for reaction purposes. The very last song they did was a Christmas song with Jewel, one of the judges. They sang Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! I love watching folks react to Home Free that have not heard them or heard much of them. You, sir, are only at the entrance of the rabbit hole that is HOME FREE!!! If you wish to see some of the history of the group, I would suggest you check out all their performances on the "sing off" TV show, there is one video with just the songs and also one with all the judges comments and some history of the group included. both are well worth your time. As for what to react to next.... Try "Hillbilly Bone" or "Ring of Fire". For a laugh and to see the funnier side of them, check out the "Butts Remix". Really any of their stuff is mind blowing and a delight to hear.

Thank you for this professional reaction to Home Free. I became addicted to this groups music and talent the first song of theirs that heard. I think the first was Man of Constant Sorrow. If you haven't done that reaction yet; you really need to do that one. I could name another 10 or more of their songs that would make great reaction videos. In this reaction, you brought home exactly how I feel when I watch this Auld Lang Syne cover.
Rob sounds like some guy in a bar on New year's eve whose voice shocks the crap out of everyone there. Bv's were crazy for whoever was singing lead.

You don't often get to hear Adam Rupp sing, but when you do, you get these gorgeous 5-part harmonies. I got to hear them do this in concert earlier this month. And they sang it just like the video - the 5 of them standing around the one microphone. Just stunning. Oh, and Happy New Year!

Robert Burns penned this after an old Scott folk song. He later put to paper a more “traditional “ version, in the old Scott wording. (Oddly, the older version was published after the more recognizable version that we know today.)
The melody, as well as the words, were slightly different then what we hear today.
I haven’t been able to find an example of the folk melody, however, Dougie Maclean’s Tribute to Robert Robert Burns is done in the more traditional Scott accent.
If for no other reason, it’s a fun bit of history to clog up your brain with! (Lol)

If you would look (listen?) past your reluctance to listen to country music, I would absolutely LOVE for you to check out Chris Stapleton, great song writer, guitar player and singer. I first came across him on YT singing his own song “Please Fool Me Again” and immediately jumped into his rabbit hole. My top go-to musical loves, Angelina, Home Free and Chris.
