He has a 4+ octave range, which is quite impressive till you put him up against Tim's 5+ octave range. They trade off bass a lot more than most people realize -- Tim goes up and takes a tenor harmony part and Chance drops down, then Tim drops down and Chance goes to baritone. They do it all the time.

Tim is such a talented writer that he is definitely at the top for me. His lyrics are so beautiful, often with poetic sentences. It's great how Tim goes so high here and Chance does the bass and sings a verse so smoothly with his beautiful voice. I think they're all great and talented with their own specialties. It’s 100% Chance doing those lows. They sound a lot a like, but seeing them live it’s 100% Chance being just as good as Tim doing those lows. While he can’t go quite as low as Tim, but he’s got the lows in him. ❤

1st off, Tim wrote this song along with many others.2nd, Tim and Chance swap up bass leads during songs on many of their songs Chance joined the group in 2016, he was the bass voice and singer in the last group he was in ( Street Corner Synphony ) . 3rd , every one of these guys can do voice instrumentation, mimicing many types of instruments . 4th, do not under estimate Adam Rupp, not only is he a world class beat boxer, he can sing, belching out notes all most as low as Tim, and singing angelic high notes. This is Chance's bass ('cept where Tim drops on Chances' lead), the texture is just a tad different --- it does take some "listening" (and with some of that equipment ya got there!?!). As we get and move into some LIVE stuffs -- and if paying attention WHILE "LISTENING" (vs hearing)... we can have some resoluting discoveries!!!! Textures guys ... oh, and both go high (who best fits!) as high notes (solely) or in harmonizing ....... Everyone hear is correct- Chance is doing bass except when he is singing, then Tim takes over. Didn’t you react to Skull and Bones? That shows you how deep Chance can go. When you get used to their voices you can pick it out, as well as the video will give you hints- the lowering hand gesture(they both do it) and just seeing the mouth movements.

Most of the time, Tim does the bass for the recording, Chance would sing the part live. He is just lip syncing the bass in this (probably). Chance is definitely able to sing the part but to make it sound consistent, usually, Tim sings all the bass.
I love this video! The guys of Home Free are so talented and multi-faceted that it blows my mind! That said, I think there is more to Rob than meets the "ear". Thank goodness for your levelheadedness. All these ither commentors were making my head spin with their conspiracy theories of who was singing bass while Tim soloed. That has been Chance's role since he joined the group in 2916 - to provide group harmonies with his baritone voice, and bass when Tim takes lead. Chris Rupp did the same when he was with the group.

Ninja is right, that was Chance when he was mouthing the bassline. Chance did most of it but Tim did the bassline when Chance sang lead. So you're both kind of right. I also thought at first that it was all Tim's bass because his voice is so distinguishable and I didn't pay attention to what Chance was doing the first time I watched it. But I heard that they worked together to match their tone. Which makes perfect sense to make it sound seamless. They have used tracks in the past with Tim's bass while he's singing lead but they've never played it off like Chance was the one doing it when he wasn't. There's no way that I could see them doing that. Plus, they know the Home Fries are way too smart for that. And they have always been very careful not to deceive their audience. Such as with the looper.

You two need to watch the bass battles where it has Tim, Chance and a few of the other bass singers from various groups. Chance can drop pretty low and the two of them can sound very similar. It's hard to pull the voices from one another during the Skull and Bones song they did for Ubisoft. Snow Globe is one of my favorite original songs they do, thank you for the reaction.

I think for this, it does sound like Tim's voice on the bah-ums, his tambour. His voice cuts through everything better than Chance's in that register, imo. But live, I imagine Chance would cover the bassline when Tim has the melody. Great reaction and thank you!!!
Chance can surprise you with his lows. I’ve even heard him doing parts that sound like the guitar. Try Hillbilly Bone for that. Everyone is saying it is Darren Rust , though. Tim and Chance’s bass sounds are different, but Chance does do those kinds of enunciations as well.

Most of the time, Tim does the bass for the recording, Chance would sing the part live. He is just lip syncing the bass in this (probably). Chance is definitely able to sing the part but to make it sound consistent, usually, Tim sings all the bass.

I love this video! The guys of Home Free are so talented and multi-faceted that it blows my mind! That said, I think there is more to Rob than meets the "ear". Every once in a while we get to see a glimpse of something soulful, so powerful it leaves us wanting more. If you ever get a chance check out their video for "Catch Me if You Can". Chance did the bass line except when he was singing. I know you don't believe it but Tim has stated it was Chance. The guitar sound was Darren Rust the producer. Tim stated that Darren has a beautiful voice. Great reaction guys!!!!
Thank goodness for your levelheadedness. All these ither commentors were making my head spin with their conspiracy theories of who was singing bass while Tim soloed. That has been Chance's role since he joined the group in 2916 - to provide group harmonies with his baritone voice, and bass when Tim takes lead. Chris Rupp did the same when he was with the group.

Chance and Tim worked together to perfect trading bass- if you watch Chance can mimic Tim. If Chance is singing bass he sounds different .

I’ve read that it was Darren Rust, their producer, who does the guitar sound….goodness. Knowing Adam, he’s probably practiced that and can do it now - not sure though. They’re all so talented!!! Ninja is right, that was Chance when he was mouthing the bassline. Chance did most of it but Tim did the bassline when Chance sang lead. So you're both kind of right. I also thought at first that it was all Tim's bass because his voice is so distinguishable and I didn't pay attention to what Chance was doing the first time I watched it. But I heard that they worked together to match their tone. Which makes perfect sense to make it sound seamless. They have used tracks in the past with Tim's bass while he's singing lead but they've never played it off like Chance was the one doing it when he wasn't. There's no way that I could see them doing that. Plus, they know the Home Fries are way too smart for that. And they have always been very careful not to deceive their audience. Such as with the looper.

Check out Tims solo stuff on his Doo wop album...he sings ALL the parts,and it showcases his vocal range of highs & lows...but Chance and Tim trade off the bass spot!! Lol chance has an AMAZING bass voice!! He was the bass singer in his old group Street corner Symphony.😄both sing bass beautifully!! Its Chance when Tim is singing lead.
You two need to watch the bass battles where it has Tim, Chance and a few of the other bass singers from various groups. Chance can drop pretty low and the two of them can sound very similar. It's hard to pull the voices from one another during the Skull and Bones song they did for Ubisoft. Snow Globe is one of my favorite original songs they do, thank you for the reaction.
Also gotta remember -- a few of those are mislabeled where it's Chance but noted as Tim!!! : )

I think for this, it does sound like Tim's voice on the bah-ums, his tambour. His voice cuts through everything better than Chance's in that register, imo. But live, I imagine Chance would cover the bassline when Tim has the melody. Great reaction and thank you!!!

Chance can surprise you with his lows. I’ve even heard him doing parts that sound like the guitar. Try Hillbilly Bone for that. Everyone is saying it is Darren Rust , though. Tim and Chance’s bass sounds are different, but Chance does do those kinds of enunciations as well.

I'm siding with Gillian on this one, but what matters the most is that this a very very pretty Tim original and is seasonal !!! You can play this all Winter (and I have the past 2 years, now almost 3) and not feel guilty one bit about it

I vote for the low notes you were discussing being Chance this time, not Tim. I read once that when Chance joined Home Free, Tim worked with him on honing his bass skills. I also vote for it being Chance doing the guitar sound. You can see and hear more of it in their video of 'Can't Stop the Feeling'. Fun reaction! Merry Christmas everyone 🎅
Why would Chance have to "hone" his bass skills, when he had been singing bass for years? The many stories about Tim going around schooling every other bass in sight are hard to believe.
I know he helped Geoff he said so he couldn’t get up in tenor but they said Tim helped him so I don’t know what the truth is! But they got some one to impersonate Geoff. It was his supposed to be interview.
