The Caucasian Ovcharka is undoubtedly one of the internet's most fantasized dog breeds. The breed is known for being a ferocious and fierce guardian dog breed. - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
My dad use to own Caucasian shepherd long time ago when i was just 7 and first started school. I use to ride on his back and sometime he would pull me on sleds to school in winter. I miss him forever my very first best friend. Our friends ship was cut shot due to war in Yugoslavia. We had to move to different country , dad got pulled in military. Dog went to dads friend who had dog shelter and farm. As war progressed and all that horrible shit, dog got sold to somebody years later. At least he was lucky to find new home too. But i gotta say its one of them dogs that will love u and watch over u forever, and even if u were to slip and fall he'd run up to you to make sure that you're OK. Hes was always kind to all my friends and family but on alert when a stranger would be around. In summer time me and other kids would play in this pond shallow water. He would run up to us destroy our shirts and shorts pulling us out of water. Lol he always thought we were in danger and drowning.
What a loving memory. TY for sharing it.
I have a banana shirt he has a banana shirt...seems pretty trust worthy I like him
I literally LOL
LMAO
Lol
I like that bananas have a lot of the important salt used to jump start my heart everytime...... Potassium!!!
Only one way to find out
Damn, Brad has all the dogs. He's an interesting dude. A tech guy with a ranch living in the sticks with a gang of rare dogs.
lol, "tech guy."
Cacausian is not rare :/
Cazi Abraham rare everywhere outside of russia
Caucasian people like to collect and/or hunt rare animals
Bro which is bstbw rott vs gsd plz help me out bcz i can buy oly one
this guy Brad, this guy is whole another level, so many dogs, all the best ones, Brad sir, you are living the life.......👍👍
All my wishlist dogs! smh
Pulkit Channan I ran into him at a couple of matches.
Y$IU$ yeah, ikr....i would have gone miles just to have a look at any of these dogs in somebody else's home..
PantherCrane matches as in?
As in he's trolling... grow up people!
I adopted a Caucasian Ovcharka. He was being kept in a 10 foot square yard, never walked or groomed. I had him for 3 days and he adjusted so well and would growl at anybody who came near the house. And that was after 3 days! He is a beautiful natured dog. As you say, great with other dogs and kids. I had a German Shepherd and I was attacked and he ran away!! I know for a fact if Dylan, my boy, had been there he would protect me. I'm only 5 foot 2, and 115 pounds and he's so easy to handle, no pulling. But very suspicious of strangers.
your info on Caucasian shepherd is very wrong my friend. my great grandfather had Caucasian shepherd in 1912 when in georgia there was no such thing as Soviet union.
Finally, someone is smart lmao, i hate so much when people say that this breed is a russian breed, im georgian, and its a georgian breed
I agree his info is terrible.
Yeah the original stock came from Georgia those are the aboriginal breed, the U.S.S.R. came and took the best examples of the breed and bred them in the Red Star Kennels for military purposes enhancing their size, aggression towards humans, and their dependence in working with human handlers for military applications.
Today there are two variants of the CO, the Georgian Aboriginal and the Soviet Military style.
When I heard that dimwit say that I was like WHAT! The Caucasian Ovcharka comes from the mountains that has the same name and are an old breed at least 400 years old.
Thi$ I$ not a gr8 $pokesmen for thi$ breed.
Why's this guy look like he's in the witness protection ???
Rico Conti hes probably undercover law enforcement. His choice of dog could be a hint
Lol 😂 what's with the shade's i never trust any one that worship sun glasses...🤔
Brad I LOVE all your dogs! Absolutely fascinating to learn about the different breeds you own. Keep doing what you are doing because you are doing it very well!
My neighbour had one, he was the sweetest good boy to me but he grew up with me, when a stray labrador came nearby, he attacked him without hesitation, I hugged the labrador to protect him and the caucasian ovczarka left, he didn't hurt me at all. Very teritorial
...one of my teachers in High school had this dog. Biggest ball of fluff I've ever met. Pretty calm dog loved all the kids on campus.
I have been waiting for the video for quite some time. Thank you Zeke.
Thank you for this video. We have a new puppy and this is the best source of practical info about the breed that I've encountered. I look forward to raising our little girl who came all the way from Evrazia Kennel in Bulgaria. My first dog was my boy, Caleb, a St. Bernard who I had from birth to death. I miss him every day. When he died just shy of 12 in 2010, we got EZ, our 200 lb English Mastiff from puppy time. He's now 7 and is a happy, healthy big wimp. Since EZ is so gentle, we got Able, a fila Brasiliero, when EZ was just a year and a half. He came from Brazil and never was properly socialized at an early age and was a problem child until he turned 4. Unfortunately, he died unexpectedly a month ago from a GI bleed. Now, we have KC, a little female Ovcharka puppy. Although my other dogs will always have a part of my heart, I can already tell that KC is the most exceptional of them all. I look forward to our life with her. Thanks again for the video, Brad. Great info that encourages me even more over my choice of this breed.
Brad Anderson, you are a beast and so are your dogs.....respect.🙌🙏
Pulkit Channan its georgiano dog..not soviet........
Caucasian shephardis not a soviet breed. They've been around for waaaaaaaaay longer. I've owened one when I lived in mountain parts of Georgia. Amaizing breed. Gotta love em :) if I move outside the city ever again I am getting one again no questions asked :)
They altered one strand
Is it true they are the best guard dogs in the world? Are they very protective of there owners?
Is it true they are naturally a very good guard dog as in you don't need to train them to guard they will automatically guard there owners?
@@leehollebon3393 Yes
That’s exactly what I was going to say .. this is an ancient breed.. I have a male ..
Dude... I've been waiting for this!!! thank you so so much
THANK YOU FOR PUTTING UP THE BREED THAT I WANTED !!
Bad ass dog!! Now i know what dog to get for protection!
I already have a dogo argentino! So its all good in the hood!
One for summer (short hair dogo) and the other one for winter ( long coat caucasian ovcharka).
THANK YOU VERY MUCH MAN! NICE WORK ☝🏼👌🏼👍🏼
I agree, these guys are so affectionate with family... the three that we had were all ok with anyone that they met when they were pups, even years later. It took a long time for them to accept someone once they were adults, and my female always had to be watched- she would act like she was ok but if she got behind someone she would give a sharp nip/bite to the thigh.
This guy is living my life dream! He has so many dog breeds and they seem so strong and well exercised! Envy!
Me too. Marry me and we'll breed exotic dogs.
@@xivwords5448 😅😂
Another job well done ! Love seeing all your dogs ❤
The Other Side hes spreading false info, he has no ideea about the breed
yeeeees. This is what I was waiting for! thanks! I grew up in the middle east, my grandpa had a ovcharka, I remember as a kid, playing with my cousins and siblings we would take turns riding our ovcharka. felt safe with that dog. Live in the states now, but cant find any legit ovcharka breeders.
Looking for a dog that keeps my mother-in-law away
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This is it ... lol 😂 💯 percent
Get a fila brasileiro
Lmao...
This'll do the job n more.
They can take down a bear.

More Ovcharka documentary please! Fan of this channel.
Love my Ovcharka Georgia cross pup. 10 mo and 120lbs!! Super sweet very one person dog but loves the family too. She sits on her highest vantage points and surveys her domain and smell coyotes a long ways away!! Anxious to see how she does with animals.. we shall see!!
i have same breed 6 month old and weigh 100 pounds import from overseas, love my dog
There are two types of the Ovcharka breed! The info in this video is of the military-style ovcharka! There is a difference in temperament and body build between the military type and the livestock guardian dog type!
Love the vídeo! I've my own private monster and he's all that Brad Anderson says. He's a funny, cute dog with the family, and a total killer with strangers. That said, this is not a easy dog and not a dog for everybody.
I appreciate how you absolutely just described my dog. He is such a marshmallow with us, we’ve never had issues with dogs but he does need to be contained when we have people over.
WOW I love all your dogs mastiffs/guardian breeds are my all time fav!!! I am so jealous you are living the dream man congrats!!
intro to every video with this guy "I needed a personal protection dog, a dog to protect my property." Who is really trying to to kill this small time goat and ox farmer in the hills? He probably has a grow house for weeed.
hahahaha this made my day man
Warner Robinson as my UA-cam name implies I'd say the paranoid weed grower in him is on full tilt
LOL! It does make me sound a little crazy. But keep in mind, a lot of theses dogs have been added over time. Luytiy, in this video, is 10 years old. He's basically retired from "work"... Also, I didn't have livestock when I got Luytiy, if I did I probably would have gone with the CAO which I added much later when we did have stock.
But, yeah, I do come off pretty paranoid when you don't consider the context and history.
Warner Robinson So he loves his family and lives out in the sticks. No need for the accusations. Pure Salt
I do live an hour away from the nearest police station.
Great video bro and Brad your Caucasian is a serious dog 👍
I adore that dogs 😍 I had one when I was little and we had wonderful relationships and he made all his "protection duty" without problems
There’s one of these next to where I work on a golf course. Always escapes and gets onto the golf course. One of the friendliest dogs I’ve met
Excellent video, did a good job explaining the Caucasian Ovcharka. Mine died 8 months ago, I had her for 9 years. She was awesome and I loved her beyond words but it was basically as you described, although she did guard me and everything in her territory with EXTREME diligence.
This breed does not know fear. She would literally take on anything, even large numbers of anything without hesitation and once she engaged there was no calling her off or stopping her - short of very physically pulling her off. Ovcharkas are often described as only average intelligence and poor obedience. I have found both of these observations to be untrue, however you must understand the breed to correctly determine this. Caucasians do not view "mindless obedience" as having any value. They will not be made to do tricks - which includes sit and stay - they consider themselves to be equal to humans. Think more in terms of you being the mayor of the territory and the Caucasian as the sheriff. As the mayor you make laws like when is feeding time and so on and the Caucasian will not challenge this. They will go along with these kinds of rules but the minute the sheriff needs to be involved then the sheriff is in charge. The sheriff will neutralize the threat (people, neighbors, any kind of animal, could be absolutely anything) and then stand down and the mayor takes back over.
They learn everything as quickly as any dog you can imagine but that does not mean they will be tempted to try anything they do not judge to be essential. They are not food driven or treat or object driven. I could offer her anything for a trick and she would usually do it a time or two almost right away to demonstrate that she understood and then would just turn her nose up to further treats and not do the trick. She was "very civilized" - cooperated with the other dogs I had, practically house trained herself, did not chew up stuff like shoes, only barked when she perceived a direct threat (someone walking by on the sidewalk was an indirect threat to be observed, the minute they started toward the door she would go to DEF CON 1 to announce direct threat imminent that she would shortly be handling unless they stopped and retreated immediately), would stay around me ever watchful but not underfoot, etc.
When it came to things that are usually used to determine obedience, Ovcharkas are typically bad as mentioned because they do not see the importance of "sit" for instance. As long as they are alert, available and watchful (which they always are, no kidding with this) then "sit" does not seem to matter to them so they don't do it.
Note, they DO love their human - yes main one human or maybe two and rest of family and other pets are tolerated and accepted but their attention or praise is not wanted or appreciated. Mine would doze in my lap and show me deep affection but she really did not want or need petting, effuse praise or other kinds of "snuggling". If you are wanting that then this dog is not for you. They often look like a giant teddy bear that is all fluffy but make no mistake this dog is a ruthless killer at a moment notice and about as cuddley as Rambo)
I hope that all makes sense and helps to understand this breed better. She was the best dog I ever had (and I have had the honor and privilege of having a lot of dogs over the years - Shepard, lab, border collie, pit bull, spaniel, jack russell) and also I found her to be extremely affectionate in her own way - more than any other dog I had. I also considered her to be the smartest -yes, even over the ones mentioned - but like I said she did what she judged best without consideration of emotions. If you are ready for a partner who would without thought or hesitation trade her life for your safety, who never takes a day off and is on guard 24/7 ALWAYS and you are an experienced owner who understands the need and drive of the breed - then the Ovcharka is a great choice. If you want an obedient cuddle monster, then this dog is not for you.
Your dog was no different than my Baloo who s an Akbash/Anatolian Sheperd. Low obedience, on guard 24 7, aggressive, but loves his family. The main difference is only in the size at which the Caucasian Ovcharka are a lot bigger than an Akbash/Anatolian sheperd. LGDs
Randy Douglas thank you for the thoughtful remark. I am terrible at texting and often find it hard to express my exact points. I lived in a subdivision and my dog was welled liked by those who knew her (everyone) and they were not afraid of her because CO are known for stable trmpetments, unlike some breeds that people fear because they don't know when one might snap.
She lived indoors with me and even slept on my bed. She had a small yard but went on long lengthy walls without a problem, but if someone had tried to say rob me she would have not hesitated a second in a ruthless attack. As far as the trick remark, she definitely knew I was the boss and would listen obediently. A strick command was always followed without command, but a casual command like you you might say go sit down while I make dinner....she might not do that without a firmer command. I must can't say enough things about her...she was gentle and almost telepathic, her love knew no bounds and her devotion was unquestionable. You have to be a highly experienced owner or I would not recommend one. They are powerful and do NOT respond to any rough handling like a spanking for bad behaviorviour, the most effective tool is showing them your disappointment and they typically won't do that behaviour again. You only have to show them once or twice and they understand, even things that are not their concern. Of course sit stay, etc are essential and she did these things without complaint or hesitation, I was trying to make a point that these are highly independent thinking dogs and treats, praise and other usual methods are not going to train tis breed into a loving family member. Sorry if my original message have such A low opinion of the breed because that was not my intent. In fact, of all the dog breeds I have had and trained, she was the best and I would not hesitate in getting one or more if my circumstances permitted. Please feel free to comment or disagree or ask more questions because CO are in my opinion the ultimate dog in every way. Best Regards, Julia
I also ment to comment on the remark about never taking her in public for fear she would attack without control. She NEVER did this or seemed tempted to, she was not looking at people to notice or pet her and was basically very aloof. S
When we had guests we would just say one time friend and she would go lay down somewhere because she had no interest in getting to kmow them. She NEVER but anyone but for sure she was always on guard and ready should a real threat arise. If we were walking along and a young man came running aggressively at us because he missed his basketball shot or something like that she had the intelligence to realize no danger and just ignored him without me saying a word or putting pressure on the leash. She was extremely intuitive in so many ways but I did not ever fear that she would suddenly decide to bite without warning or provocation like some breeds are known to do.
JULIA Dog lover where can i get one
She died so young 😮😮😮
That's medium? Whoa!!!! I would hate to see a large one of that breed.
let me tell you I have a breeder out in Las Vegas and I went to her house and I saw a very large one I mean they are no joke beautiful beautiful dogs I'm planning on getting one right after my Cane Corso passes away.... and I got to play with puppies and got that play with Grandma when they can be sweet but they can be badass
Some of them could get up to 2:10 or more
Wow, thanks for the heads up.
Delores Cheatham do you know Brian?
No I don't. Sorry. .. the breeder that I have went to her name is Oksana Higgs
Love the direction your going with this content.
i love this video and your channel please keep up the good work and do more videos on the caucasian
The Ovcharka is an old dog breed far outdating the USSR (and communism) that originated in Caucasus region. It was bred to protect herds from,Wolf packs, foxes, and Bears. It has two diffrent sub breeds, Plain Dogs tend to have less furr, whilst mountain dogs have a much thicker coat.
The caucasian ovcharka in the video is definitely USSR red star developed dog. The caucasian livestock dogs like nagazi, gampr, north Caucasus volkodav etc are the ones that are thousands of years old. The Soviets took these aboriginal dog and did artificial selection to "improve" the breed specially for increased civil aggression
That is one beautiful dog. He has a very unusual walk.
Very helpful video, thanks brad
Very good interview. Thank you from Portugal,

@@ElsonCypi hi. At the risk of sounding dumb, but what's an Illyrian Shepherd?
@@amberw.b.6130 Google is your friend
this breed is from kazbegi, Georgia. and then taken in Russia. you say that this breed is from Caucasia, yes it is but to say properly this breed is from North Caucasia, from Kazbegi and Kazbegi is Georgia. There is Georgian shepherd and Caucasian shepherd both origin from Georgia.
Thank you for the Video. Very Interesting. I do agree with you about having a dog who protects your family and property. My previous dog was a German Sheppard x Boxer. She was very gentle with my children but a TOTAL NUTCASE with Strangers. Extremely Aggressive. (I thought it was great). She was doing her job. She passed away at 15.5 years. We now have a pure breed Boxer. Awesome Dogs. The Caucasian Ovcharka sound like a great family Guard Dog. It's what anyone should look for a Dog and companion. Thank you once again. from (Down Under Australia).
I absolutely love the respect and the effort you are putting to pronounce the real name Ovcharka ! It is absolutely correct! You are great
You can easily say it in English which is shepherd, but you prefer to use the Russian/Bulgarian authentic word ! You are a great American guy ! wish you
All the best
great looking dog. 👍
It's like watching a hostage giving list of demands to the police.
Yooo how many dogs brad has sheesh for years now i been watching his vids and every time its a new dog..👊👐👐 he has the best life
Love the videos, so informational! I see mostly bully breeds and a few rare breeds and some sighthounds, how about doing a video about salukis?
i like this brad guy, he seems very knowledgeable about the dogs he has
Wow...How many top guard and protection Dogs does this guy owns? I bet in the next video he is gonna walking around with a Lion and a Grizzly Bear. Lol
Thanks
I am falling in love with this breed 😍
I love to see a video on Rhodesians. Great video on the Caucasian.
I hate Rhodesian ridge back‘s you’re the worst dog breed in the world
@@nsjdfbcb3542 Why? I am seriously considering getting my first one.
Came into this with an open mind. I've heard all the misconceptions before: "Developed by Russians" "Russian military dog" etc. Also not a huge proponent of "It's a Georgian dog" stance (me being Georgian not withstanding, people had those dogs on both sides of Caucasus mountain range). But a guy, claiming to be an expert on the subject, saying this is a relatively new breed - couldn't get past that point. It has been around for centuries... Maybe it wasn't cataloged by kennel societies, because those stuck up snobs can't be stuffed to look past their backyards, but that's no fault of the dogs.
Russians love to take credit for a lot of things they had no part in achieving. Developing a super strong guard dog is just one of those things.
EXACTLY!!!!!! My girl is 9 months old, Ovcharka is just the name the Soviets dropped on it because of Stalinist regime didn't want anything with reference to Georgia or the Caucuses. The first mention of the breed is over 2000 years in the army of Armenian Tsar Tigran II as camp guards. This guy knows sweet FA about the breed, they still not fully recognised by many kennel clubs.
Hey I would love to see a documentary video on Jindo dogs! You guys would be the first westerners to do a proper one, and having seen how willing your team is to go wherever necessary and find proper spokespeople, you’re the only channel I’d recommend this endeavor to; I think you guys could do it right. Please consider the Jindo!
Thank you I'm seriously considering this breed. For my horse ranch in Montana.
Dyam this guy has a dog farm or what.. Anyways me likes it.. Keep em coming.. Hope to see a documentary on Indian mastiff (Bully kutta) soon.
That is so not true. This dog was there for 2-3 thousand of years protecting sheep in mountains of Georgia and countries near by
Because the dog breed was registered by the USR, the FCI standard of this breed indicates that its origin is the USSR. However, the breed is native to countries of the Caucasus region including Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan.
barf245 azerbijan is not even 100 years old so azrgayjan is not included
we have one and he's the most amazing dog ever. if you get one forget ever having company over unless you have a place to put him. he's rejected strangers since being a puppy. 130 lbs is very small for this breed mine is over 190 pounds and almost two years old.
The Best of the Best Kavkasiuri Nagazi ! 👍
Red Star kennels developed these dogs to work prisons. The indigenous breed ranges from Dagestan all the way to Azerbaijan. They were mostly concentrated in Georgia and Armenia. The Armenian variety tends to be a more short haired breed used by shepards very commonly for wolf/bear protection. Armenians also gave them a nickname “Gelxext” which roughly translates to “Wolf choker”.
With that said, the best examples of this breed of dog came from Georgia and that is why quality obsesses Red Star kennel Russians drafted specimens from Georgia.
For the record I’m not Georgian, but give credit where it’s due. Best raw variety comes from Georgia with Armenia in a close second but with short hair. These dogs are no joke, experienced handlers only.
Dog from Sakartvelo... I've seen dogs of this type in Georgia, very popular there, both as original livestock guardians, and on a leash.
And It's Not Soviet Made Dog It's In Fact Ancient Georgian Dog!!!
That is a beautiful dog.
I have 1 russian caucasian shepherd and 2 tibetan mastiff`s
Utok is 210 pounds and Hime and agata are 177-187 pounds. Utok, Hime and Agata are all my best friends, protectors and care givers they love unconditionally and will protect with the last ounce of strength they have. its also kinda funny to watch my cats jump on them.
I have seen many videos of this guy , all the breeds he owns are aesthetically very beautiful and the way he explains the characteristics makes me wanna think that i would buy a puppy of him without a doubt

AWESOME breed!!
I wish I could have one.
He's not huge, just only 130-140lbs. Really?
Lee V. TV the dogs can get too 225+ lbs easily
That is pretty small for one. I have a 10 month old who is 100 lbs and mine is a female. So 130 is very small.
Lee V. TV I have 2 big caucasian shepherds - one is 93kg another 88kg so yes his dog is medium sized in this breed. of course for someone who considers 30kg german shepherd as a big dog this breed will look huge :)
That’s tiny for an Ovcharka, my guy
Big enough to kill a man!

Ovcharka is russian word and means shepherd. Caucasian shepherd isn't from russia its Georgian breed
Some day I'll get one or two of these gorgeous dogs. Although I've had dogs my entire life, and currently have two Dogo Argentinos, I still wouldn't get one anytime soon - they are certainly not to be messed with or taken lightly. Someday though...
Totally in love with this breed. Luti (hopefully that's correct) is a beautiful example of an Ovcharka.
This is the only breed of dog that can fight with success a full grow big cat such a puma or leopard. I do not want to promote any kind of animal violence but just to show how strong they are.
Dogos are smaller but were bred to take down pumas and there are a few examples of this happening. Their power is in their jaws and holding power.
Tibetan mastiff
I stopped this video at 47 seconds, recent breed???? I’m out
Wow...this dog's got the walk and paws like a bear!
Dann brad has them all zeek good networking brother
Caucasian Shepherd is georgian Moscow watch dog us Russian
Brad..!!! The 'NAGAZI" 0:54-4:46 is the Georgian word and the shepherd dog means Russians have been taken away from Georgia (stolen) dogs. Aleksandre Mazoveri himself acknowledged that the best dogs in Georgia have. Russians and Ukrainians still buy in Georgia and take good care of their population in their countries. There are two types of dogs in Georgia (we have 4 types of dogs) long hair "TARTI" and low hair "NAGAZI"
can these be trained to be non aggressive towards strangers? don't really want to get one now because I'm really inexperienced but later down the road I really want one
I would like to know more about the breed because I am thinking about getting one I love it’s characteristics and looks. I would like to know the suitable and ideal living environment along with eating habits and how to properly train it. I’m I’m kinda asking for a lot but I really really would like to own this dog one day if anyone can point me in the direction of a video or if Dogumentary could make an in-depth video I would greatly appreciate it
Brad kinda sounds like Rick from Rick and Morty.
