If you enter the owner's house, the owner's dog will bark at you. And if you are a stranger to him, the dog will get angry, and if he finds out that you are a friend of the dog's owner, he will most likely stop, he is aggressive because he wants to protect the owner.

Caucasian shepherds homeland is Georgia 🇬🇪 .They live in Georgia more than 2000 years . Caucasian Georgian shepherds are a very strong, brave and intelligent dogs . They survived a many people lives too . Caucasian shepherds are called the king of the dogs in the world.
I don't know how one of these dogs ended up in a dog rescue in Sandpoint, Idaho, but I adopted him there. He lived with me till he died last spring. I didn't know what he was till I saw this video. I loved him so much. Best dog I ever had. He took great care of me since we had no sheep. Wish I could get another, but they are not common in the U. S. I miss him every day even though I now have a Great Pyrenees/Komador who is lovey and good.

I've had big dogs- Shepherds and Saints, but this is a dog I think I would love to have. Very loyal and protecting! As I get older that is what I want and need.

You want a sweet, fluffy dog, get a Maltese or a Cocker Spaniel. But do yourself and these dogs a favor and don't get a Caucasian.

There is a family in Eastern Montana that raises Caucasian ovcharkas...huge dogs, but what is most impressive is their immediate intelligence, and their unwaivering protectiveness...really wonderful dogs. Let us pray they never become popular, as popularity attracts undesirables to the breed, plus poor breeding standards, and then another breed becomes the bogeyman monster breed...

Caucasian dog must be treated as member of the family. These dogs will not bring the ball, will not fuck clothes, they will not even eat if you say so, EXTREMELY loyal to family, loves children.
There is lot of facts when dog was starving till death after his owner was dead. Dogs were guarding house until death, dogs were starving over the graves. I mean that this dog just loves his family and it is impossible for him not to protect them in any situation.
Very true...a Caucasian ovcharka is not a dog for the "casual" dog owner...they require a firm hand and a definite pecking order with work to do, lest they become restless...this is true of most dogs...a busy dog is a happy dog...a bored dog is a chewed up couch...and with a caucasian, or a kangol, or any other large breed, you, as a dog owner, are responsible for a large, very powerful, and possible very dangerous animal...consider very carefully when selecting such a dog...are you being fair to your new companion?

I used to take them out in the country fields for hours and the Dogs just loved it(me 2) So ur comments were spot on..These Caucus Dogs look 👍 Fantastic Animals...very impressive..Worth their weight in Gold👍

Very good sheep guards, maybe the best in the world.
Beautiful dogs. I love the way their colours blend with the rocks and mountains. These are the correct types, light but powerful, big boned and tall and can run like the wind. The heavier bear types you get in Russia and at dog shows are not correct, they are too heavy and useless at running down a wolf or guarding sheep, they also suffer from bad hips and early death. These make lovely guardian dogs but dont expect obedience, they work by instinct not command. They are delightful around children and not dog aggressive, getting on well with each other but can be very wary of strange dogs and people.

Haha. Seriously. DO NOT expect obedience. My Ovcharka has all the obedience instinct of your average house cat.
Brian Loopy the heavier types are called mountain types. Steppe types are leaner. It all depends on breeding like always. I’ll get one from Georgia just to be safe :)

@@jr8573 The so called "mountain" versions are those mostly found in back-yards of Moscow, not mountains. They've never seen a mountain nor have their ancestors lol...... This is a myth that you get two kinds. It's a myth perpetuated by kennel clubs. The breed itself is though extremely variable and shouldn't conform to any strict breed standard imposed on it. Loosely they all look of a kind or type. The only standard is it's suitability for being a guardian and this is how they should be selected and bred not for head measurements or weight. Heaviness was never desirable in the working dog where ever it was found in the mountains or on the steppes, whatever it was acting as a deterrent against be it bear or wolf. in fact working mountain country the dogs need to be even more athletic. Rather power and athleticism combined in a big boned frame is the ideal. As big and rangy as they are they aren't mastiffs. Mastiffs have a completely different lineage in the domestic dog world.
