- Firefighting in Singapore could become faster with a new type of hydrant that makes it easier to draw water. The Singapore Civil Defence Force is trialling a prototype at Prince Edward Road till next October to see if it can replace existing hydrants in future.

Definitely faster since the valve is on the hydrant itself and no hydrant adaptor needed for the hoses. No need the old pit key anymore to lift up the heavy cover and locating the valve on the inside which really takes up additional seconds. And attaching the adaptor on both ends of the hydrant also can take additional seconds. During a fire incident, it can be pretty panicky sometimes to attach the adaptor and to locate the valve on the inside. Took them long enough to finally change it. This is gonna be way quicker.

Singapore government continue invest on better equipment, Malaysia government buy selfish things (Vellfire, Useless Najib tower, not upgrading flood gates, not upgrading infrastucture)

😳 Why are we seeing water leakage from the new design hydrant throughout the video ?
In my country, hydrant usually stolen or unmaintained, so it wasn't work properly. Like.. low water pressure, no valve, even no water inside the system
it is a wrong design in view of the evolution of fire hydrant.
