  • Crazy weather! A storm is completely transforming my off-grid homestead, the little creek turns into a roaring waterfall and I try to stay warm & dry in my little wood cabin.

As the water cleans the riverbed, you might have the time to reflect on the enormous progress you made on your land and on your skills. Watch out for a burnout. Take time to breathe and let the whole adventure sink in. I hope you are able to continue these inspirational videos for a very, very long time.

Also paint your leaking cement floor with water proof cement paint .Your such a inspiration to lots of people but remember to take time out for your self .your health is important Maya .👍👍

A suggestion Maya about the concrete and lime bags you relocate to the ground floor - Don't set them directly on the floor or against a wall. The concrete and lime will attract and absorb moisture through the bag and when you go to use them in the spring they will be solid blocs. At least raise them off the ground and away from the wall on a wooden pallet. 😊

Yes, i don’t think you need the dimple plastic in your drains. If you have extra rock, rubble or crushed stone you can place that in the trench to avoid to much wash out. Might I suggest a landscape fabric near your house trench to keep the weeds from regrowing and maybe a filter so you Pool doesn’t fill up with sediment and dirt from the ditch. Once you have you rain gutters that Pool will be useful to collect water. But you might need some fish to eat up mosquito larvae. 😊

You've done an impressive pre rain job, everything works really well.
But the water fall you have coming diwn your steps, but looking at it if you just dig away all the clumps of grass and abstruction any water in theory should bypass the steps.
You could always clear that corner and make it nice and sort the issue. As if you really needed to use the steps in this weather it is dangerous.
And your safety is paramount, as we all love you. ❤ Xx

[6:08] You could also dig a trench in the other side of the path (to be back yard?) behind stone houses right under the higher ground so at least part of the water would already drain earlier and not all would reach the house .. And possibly wipe the path away, as it is just loose soil, plants are what keep soil in place and behind the stone houses there is now not any plants to keep the soil on the path and the water away from the house.
[9: 08] Maybe wait the rain to show you first IF you need it or not... :/ (Remembering the winter time flood, on lower levels..)
[ 10:00] Seeing your cement and lime enjoying a bath next in there.. :=( Please have shelving or work tables there to lift the stuff off the floor before in coming rain..
