You never give up! I am a retired builder and you tackle more jobs than I would ever do!
Always double the mesh and use the smallest holes (13mm) you can get!
Also always paint a slush of plaster bond mix onto the walls before you plaster.
The last tip is to nail the mesh onto the lintels with masonry nails hit into the small gaps between the lintels
Keep going! You are doing an amazing job!

Hard work. You are the right age for this. Not easy when you get older. Good luck. One property like this in a lifetime is enough.

I started renovating my house in Portugal, aged 44. That was 21 years ago. Pretty much there now. So many individual projects, sometimes years apart as funds allowed. A few re-dos where I wasn't quite happy. I finished the natural swimming pool a couple of years ago. Cut into the hillside, it was a monumental project. I've just got a main bathroom to re-do, 30 metres of stone path to wind through the garden, then I'm done. Even if I won the Lottery, I'd never leave my Alentejan dream home. But you're right, the older you get, the harder it gets and it's a one in a lifetime kind of thing.

@@ianworley8169 That's amazing wow. You really have to enjoy doing things like this. It just becomes part of your life. We haven't had to renovate but we started from scratch on a piece of land 2 years ago. Both 40yrs old. Just enjoying doing projects as we go.
It also is very different when you are not doing it alone.
      Your property sounds marvelous!

for 1/2" or 1 cm plaster you dont need chicken mesh. First your chip the slab, so that it has some dents where the plaster will hold. Then you simply apply plaster. It is that simple. And then give 2 days to dry and then water for 2 weeks. -- Arif from Bangladesh

Das Drahtnetz musst du mit Stahlnägeln vorher festnageln. Empfehle aber das Kunststoffgewebe, dass man auch für Wärmedämmung nimmt. Das kannst du mit Fliesenkleber einspachteln. Spachtel auftragen, Gewebe eindrücken, Spachel/ Kleber abziehen.

Hi, in case you have to do this elsewhere, I watched another video (The Indigo Escape) where the builder, Simon, put the cement mix on the base of his tool (not on the top like you did) and flicked the cement onto the surface with a strong, hard flick and it stuck really well. Of course, he’s an expert and it always looks easy when the experts do things, but thought this might help. Also, not a failure! It was hard work and it’s ended up looking good 😍

When you install windows remember to ensure water does not run in under the window. Install the window high and have a drip pan that tilts down on the outside. So water does not accumulate on the sill itself ... It has to run off and away ...

Normally, you first install the window frames and fix them with wooden wedges and foam the window frames before you start with the plastering work
Don't forget to take into account that you also have to install a window sill with a gradient of about 3 to 5% before you start plastering
