This is the dream! I would box the monitor in with a black frame so you can’t see the shop through the sides and then try fit the centre console back in! So dope!
not perfect but pretty great! need adjust the FOV in game, and make the cluster work (with a lcd in there or with arduino and CAN code) you could use the speakers in the doors too
@@kyleranderson5557 I know a guy that did the same with a Ford Focus dash ... might take a little more work to get the Iriver working (without a motor/ECU/BCMs etc)... but you're right, the Throtl Boys are def capable
could definitely run the gauges, most games will output the telemetry for you, then you just gotta translate that to the car. Running the sound via the car speakers would be amazing, legit surround sound and running a display in the dash for track maps, extra telemetry etc. would be awesome if it's possible (don't know that it would be, though, depends on the game I guess)
@@kyleranderson5557 I did that and you need the right bmw cluster. The later clusters need the ecu and other modules to report miles or it enters a safe mode after a while.
Putting all that stuff in a shell of a car is cool, but there is so much stuff you could do to make it actually "the best simulation you have ever seen". Making proper screen setup as this one looked little bit off when everybody was looking at the center not dead straight. You could make some switches work, tacho and speedo work etc. etc. So much more potential in this one.
@@JoaoCaetano1197 This would be sweet, probably more likely too. Not sure how you'd go about running a second gauge display from the game, would need the game to support it or it'd be a tonne of coding. Lots of racing games output telemetry, though, which could easily be used to run the gauges.
@@helplmchoking Its quite easy. With Assetto Corsa you would just need sim hub(app) or a similar program. AC already is able to send outputs to secondary controllers. Would just need an audrino to convert the input to a signal that the BMW cluster can interpret
@@helplmchoking Most gauge cluster LCD's that are made for sim racing support simhub or games (like the F1 series natively supports external sim hardware) so it'd be nearly plug n play.
Would for sure close in the gaps for the monitor/windshield area. Tint the windows to give it a more secluded feel. Wiring speakers to the doors would be cool too. Super dope over all!
Also pro tip, use those good simulator parts and sensors hooked up to the cars original pedals and use the original steering wheel, make an adapter to go from the steering shaft to the sim wheel, then extend the buttons and switches to the cars original wheel and column....it will ad to the feel of the rig a LOT.
So creative. One thing I did on my drivers seat is mount a transducer under the drivers seat and ran the low / sub frequencies thru it. Let’s you feel every crunch.
MAYBE FOR an nice add on , put a smal display in the original entertainment system and guage and run them with simhub for an even more realistic experience
need to make it into a motion rig somehow now! also hope you guys fare better with fanatec equipment than I. Over a month later still cant get my stuff repaired (5th RMA at this point) 4 of those being broken pin repairs and 5th was getting a "new" wheelbase only to have the belt slip like crazy
Very cool, very very pricey setup, but very cool. Couple suggestions- I would ditch the monito mount with an adjustable one so you can position the monitor a little better. The other suggestion, while you have a subwoofer, you could still add some motors to the chair to give some vibration feedback. A lot of possibilities with this setup, would be really cool to add adjustable mounts that could shake the car. :) Very envious of the gear though, would love fanatec setup, but man does it hurt the wallet. Also be mindful of that steering column needing to breathe, they motors can get a bit hot stuffed in there like that. Enjoy the setup!
lmao Evan's reaction he gets in the seat. Mickey, Rickie & Anthony did a hell of a job on this build. I hope ya'll pick my FJ Cruiser for the Dream Build so we get Rickie to show off more of his carpentry skills to build out the storage setup inside 😉
That thing is SWEEEEEEETTTT! That monitor is HUGE but you MIGHT be able to get an arm mount that could ATTACH it to the car. I would hate to see that screen tumble off the front of your sim.
Heres some ideas, Add power to the windows and tint them. Use the speakers. box the screen and the back. use a push to start as the pc power up. add a swivel keyboard and mount that goes in front of the drivers seat. (not sure if this is possible) Get gauges to work, Most sims use rev limiters in game, (this would be a bit expensive to get someone to code the rev and speed{Or get someone off fiverr to code it})
This is possibly my favourite build by Throtl of all time! This should be a side business for you guys, there is definitely a market for this. Only suggestion would be to get a new arm mount for the monitor to angle it easier
I love all the feedback ... thank you so much .... lol... but .... if I were to make the Gauges in the car work... and add a monitor on the rear view mirror and side mirrors and door windows and make the speakers of the car work .... I might as well drive my car ... lol ... I love it tho !!
My 5 yr old daughter, "the Squid", just asked if we could make one of these. She's now trying to get me off the couch and teach her to weld, so she can help build it. She's not fu@#^nG around! Thanks to all of you, for keeping my child and I quite happily entertained. Killer work, guys.
Love the setup but I would take it 10 steps further and add additional monitors in the doors for side viewing so first person racing actually feels like real life racing because just forward viewing isn't enough to see surroundings like an actual car.
I haven’t seen a lot of people do this type of set up I know they’re probably not the first to do it but I wouldn’t be surprised if people start doing set ups like this now
This is the dream! I would box the monitor in with a black frame so you can’t see the shop through the sides and then try fit the centre console back in! So dope!
yeah and if it had windows double 5% tint
even a black cloth could do
Yeah for real.. what amateur shit is that
As well wire up the power button on the car to the power button on pc
They should of made the actually speedo and rev counter to work with a motion platform under the set
14:10 Evan looking backwards reversing on the sim, playing it off by calling Mickey lol
BRUH😭
not perfect but pretty great! need adjust the FOV in game, and make the cluster work (with a lcd in there or with arduino and CAN code)
you could use the speakers in the doors too
Yup .. there is still a lot of adjustment that's needs to be made
Yup, in ac it's easy to adjust fov and helmetcam placement to match with the rig :)
This need muuuuuch more adjustements and triple screen. Minimum. Maybe 3x projectors...
yes, fov
i wish the flat screen could fit into the wind shield
Dude that’s looks so cool, and using a curved screen was a great call
Was it tho? 🤔
It'd be SICK AF if you were able to get the factory gauges working and the iDrive working/linked in with the Sim sound
There’s one dude who did it with a full tutorial here on YT and I think these boys are smart enough to figure it out lol

I’ve always wanted to see this done with a crazy nice car that got wrecked, so the interior was insane
2 awesome addittions:
1. Make the monitor angled down to fit the windscreen (
And invert the pedals
That’s a sick set up for a simulator. Such a good idea. Would love to have that in the shop

Damn, what a great toy! Would definitely hook up the PC power on button to the BMW engine start button :D
Need a lcd screen where the cluster is so you have real gages that would be next level
what he needs is to plug the cluster to an arduino and make it work with the game

also if it was on a motion rig and monitors on the side windows
It probably wouldn't be all that hard.
I seen a Hungarian pal selling these stuff with working gauges. Cost around 1.500£. 😅
2 things.
1. Choose a game where you can set exact camera position/fov so the middle is not off to the right of the driver.
2. Add Motion! ;)
Great job! Looks like a blast.
You can add monitor to the side doors for the side view !

That’s the dodgiest bit of welding I’ve seen for a man that works in a mechanic shop
That’s so sick putting a simulator in a car I mean that’s almost the real thing and it’s fun in the process too
Looking forward to Throtl2 content--we're in the 600's now, go sub people!
That's an awesome idea... I wanted to build a racing Sim into a car for a while... Now I think I'm gonna have to!!
@Redden Boyz I don't know what kind of car I want to use... Was thinking an Evo

Everything fanatec I've had has been solid tbh, except the handbrake, which was incredibly bad
Coolest thing ive seen on this channel yet!!!! #want
Now the next thing to do to it, is make it motion simulation and vibrate for the crashing and burnouts etc.
Yessir im bassicly and og to a channel now

Yes he does !! 🙏 gracias
You guys should look into hooking up the BMW dashboard to the pc as well to work with the sim games using Arduino. Sick build!

Put monitors where the side windows would be for even more view 😂
