I watched this entire series and it brought back so many memories of playing the PS1. Some of my favorite games on the little grey box are Crash Bandicoot Warped, Tekken 3, Spyro 2, FF 7, Twisted Metal 2, MGS 1, Jet Moto 2 and Legend of the Dragoon
Whenever you have a chance, please do a combined video for this PS1 series. I watch your retrospectives all the time (they relax me, hahaha) and can’t wait to add this one to my playlist. Thanks!
Oh man, the jump from N64 to PS1 was revelation for me , This console was serious business , MGS , FFVII , Silent Hill, RE 1,2,3, Front Mission, Air/Ace combat , the list can keep going and going .. It was a sad moment for me, I grew up with the NES and SNES ... Best moment for was when Psycho Mantis moved my controller xD.
The PS1 was the first console I ever played, but I barely remembered having it since I was VERY young, and even when we had our original one, it was mostly the Original Xbox I had the memories with at home. Most of my experience with PS1 was actually on the PS2 tbh. My two favorite games on PS1 are Metal Gear Solid and Persona 2 Eternal Punishment. Persona 2 in particular is one of my favorite games of all time and it's a shame not as many people have played it as later entries (even though I do slightly prefer Persona 3 over it)
Keep it up, and you got yourself a subscriber with this series. I agree with the other comment, combine them all for a big episode. Looking forward to your next series.
Sony help make the videogame industry a lot better. Nintendo primarily focused on Kiddie games and Sega mostly focused on arcade style games. Sony games struck a balance of adult games with depth.
Excellent job on this series! I'm 47 and remember everything you discussed. Great job!! Two of my FAVORITE PS1 games that I PRAY get a remake are Vagrant Story by Square, and Omega Boost by Polyphony Digital. Two of the best showcase games for the system!! And yes I still have them both...on disk 😎!
Tomb Raider Last Revelation as well as Chronicles were released on Dreamcast. Also, Tomb Raider 1 was also released on Saturn, infact, it was originally was supposed to only be a Saturn and PC game (the guys at core were SEGA fans).
The Playstation is, was, and always will be my favourite Video Game Generation. I grew up in the 80's, lived through the great Nintendo vs SEGA Eropean rivalry in the 8 and 16 Bit eras, but the Playstation was a golliath bringing a wealth of new Genres to Gaming that pushed the boundaries of what was possible and in fact dreamed improbible only 10 Years earlier. Love the Playstation.
I usually keep supporting a system until its very last breath. It's one of the reasons why I will pick up the PS4 versions of Horizon II and Gran Turismo 7, and it is also the reason why I have the PS3 versions of both Metal Gear Solid V-titles and the PS2 version of both FIFA 14 and Pro Evolution Soccer 2014. These last two are quite valuable now, I must say. Now all I need is FIFA Football 2005 for PlayStation. 😁
I remember when the Dreamcast was launched it was literally, and with no exageration, the most impressive thing i have ever seen in my life., i was a PC gamer in the 90s till 1995 then a jumped to the Playstation, and the ps1 was like 100% better than the PC cause it had all the technologies, FMV, arcade leve 2D and better Polygon 3D games just plug and play, but when the Dreamcast showed it´s graphics was UNREAL, the dreamcast today on a CRT is still very impressive, but besides this, when the ps2 came out was like the Dreamcast banished, i literally forgot the Dreamcast ever existed, i remember that i thought in 2003 "Oh yeah, what happened to SEGA?" where is the Dreamcast?., since nobody had social media on the phones like today, i didn´t even noticed the Dreamcast died years ago, such was the power of the Ps2 success it banished the Dreamcast from my mind
@@yarc9 Yes and no, the N64 uses it´s power just for one aspect, the polygons, but funny enough is the worst console for 2D at arcade level, sound, FMV, and textures, so at the end the Ps1 had the best versions, the Saturn had a bit edge in 2D arcade ports, and the N64 a bit edge in polygons, but on everything else the ps1 is absolutly the best plus had more good games than the competition., the N64 had like 10 amazing games but the rest was absolutly trash, at the end of the day the Saturn was better than the N64, had more and better hardcore games

Great series! I wouldn't wanna be in a gaming world without the PS. Too many great games
I would to see the series covering the rise and dominance of the PS2. I binged this series which came at a great time as I just bought a PS5!
The PS1 started off and ended with a Bang, than with the release of the PS2 continued the momentum.

Great series! Thank you for making this!
The PS2 , the beast unleashed into the world. (I still have original launch system and games and stuff.)
4:58 - Ah yes, my favorite game developer, Lorde.

Agreed loved that sony made gaming more mature and mainstream
All of your videos have been awesome thank you for putting in the time to make these!
I can't believe you never mentioned the Grand Theft Auto, or Gran Turismo games.
I'm totally loving this series btw.
Parts 3 and 4. GT1 got a showcase in ep 3 iirc.
GTA3 is where the series really started to take off, and that was PS2 era I guess, so easy to skip over.

Thanks for making videos like these. They’re informative and fun to watch
the year 2000 is stacked Legend of Dragoon, Chrono Cross and the GOAT of FF Final Fantasy IX.
just watched your gamecube video last night thanks for making quality entertaining content

Hmmmmmmm, what could be the next system he talks about? Oh I know "The Wii". (Original one from 2006)
love this series

Very well made
Is drunk metroid Dalton Pruitt?
Ithis channel is amazing, do the Dreamcast next!
I honestly don't think gaming would be what it is today if it wasn't for the PlayStation.
No mention of THPS2 or the Spider-Man games from Neversoft? Those were pretty good releases for the late era PS1.
How about doing some stories on individual developers rise and fall? I think that would be interesting.
Great vids!
I had demo disc 8, and I think I played it as much as an actual game 😂.
And omg I LOVED the Harry Potter game
I AM LORDE YAYAYA
But what about the CMOS issue on PS3's?
WILL we be able to play our downloaded games just a few years from now?
Your girl has some manly looking hands there sir...
Those are my hands, dear. 😊
I've bought 5 PSX / PS ONE systems in the last year, because they ate cheap and plentiful. This won't last and I always want to have a working PSX!
