Thank you for the video Andrew. I can still recall in 1974 when my dad & uncle returned from downtown and surprised me with a copy of *Marvel Double Feature* #5, with Cap in one of the Cosmic Cube stories reprinted. My first time reading a Cap story.
Regarding the *Bullpen Bulletins* you mentioned, sometime around 1980 I sat down with my dad's run of Conan covering about 6 previous years or so, and read all of the Bulletins in order. I remember when I was really young and Stan referred to "Subby," and I thought he was a sidekick I hadn't seen (like the Torch and Toro). I later realized it was just a nickname for Namor.

Yes, I have most of the months for Marvel since about 1963 so the bulletins can be read in order along with Stan's Soapbox and also the checklists (though they did change per issue with the month, which I never noticed until recently). They always had fascinating snippets of info and sometimes things that never actually happened but were clearly planned a few months earlier
I bought Marvel Double Feature, issue 10 comes to mind as my first. I read the cosmic cube tales in the Titans UK comic in B&W first, though probably knew of the cosmic cube before that because of the Sub-Mariner / Avengers tale.
Stan did say Subby (or Prince Namor or a few other names) a lot but there was a character called Subby back in the 40s (?), don't think he was around that long and I have never read a single story with him in, I guess they didn't want to revive an aqua-lad character at Marvel (teenage sidekicks were limited to Rick Jones)

Recently retired and recapturing my youth!
    Purchased volume 1!
When selecting an omnibus, I look for consistency in the artwork!
Kirby and Steranko - pure eye candy!

Must admit. never worries too much about the artists changing, that happens all the time and I quite often like seeing Kirby's work being inked in different ways Steranko has always been a favourite. Vol 1 is superb but the vol 2 and 3 are not bad and 4 is solid Kirby (there is a vol 4 as well but I have the earlier Kirby related volume)

Yes, love those old cap tales. Had many of them in the 60s but the omnis are a great way to read all those wonderful TOS as well as Kirby and Steranko and others

None of Lee's writing has dated very well, and he stretches belief beyond breaking with stories like the cosmic cube but there is some nice art and action nonetheless.
When the Punisher arrived, Captain America began to look jaded and silly.

I still love those stories but I agree, you can pick holes throughout all of them but for me, that is half the fun of them. The cosmic cube story from the start makes little sense (though I think the Infinity Gauntlet ones also suffer from that as well) - still just great to read.

I think volume 4 might just be a reprint of the previously titled Jack Kirby Omnibus

Yes, I think it is basically the same according to the listing, I just bought the earlier JK version and won't be going for vol 4 as well, that would be pushing double dipping a little too far

When you get 2 omnibusses, published this close to eachother, one of them is usually a reprint. Classic 60 Commie bashing and of course America is the hero that saves the world, good USA propaganda. Sam Wilson was one of the black charakters that Marvel made, because all thier heroes were white. It will be interresting to see how the movie audience reacts to him being captin america. Most art is in a style i like ( the kinda Romita Sr. as art director style). People don't like Jack Kirby's cap. Personally i think it's okay.

Yes, I think it is at least the 2nd or 3rd reprinting but that is the case for many of the silver age omnis, just sometimes miss picking them up at the time of release and then they end up at £500 or so on the secondhand market. I have always liked the Falcon character. Yes, interesting to see the reactions to any Marvel movie. Jack Kirby's Cap was fine, Romita likewise ...
