      In New York 8% but let me put things in perspective On Long Island New York My husband and I live in a studio apartment and we pay 1,1300 a month for car insurance for a financed car I pay 236.00 a month no accidents and it just went up 30dollars so I can keep going. It's terrible here and it's a shame I was born here thought I'd die here just not worth it anymore 😔

    Property Insurance, Flood Insurance and Hurricane/Wind Insurance is about $3-4K a year or $350 a month

    • @livinginmobile
      @livinginmobile  2 роки тому +5

      I’ll definitely make another video about this, but for the vast majority of Mobile and Ballwin county, flood insurance is not required, but for the home I featured, a $250,000 house, a homeowners policy with wind and hail, sometimes referred to as hurricane coverage is going to be about 2K per year.

      Yes, 9 and 10%. We do have pretty high sales tax, but our overall cost of living is very low, not to mention we have some of the lowest property tax.

    So is flood wind insurance is expensive there or the question is what insurance do you have to pay for if you buy a house there?

    • @livinginmobile
      @livinginmobile  2 роки тому +4

      Contrary to popular belief, the majority of property in Mobile Alabama does not require flood insurance. If getting a mortgage, it does require regular homeowners insurance and also wind and hail, often referred to as hurricane insurance. If you’re in a particular flood zone, it may be required to have flood insurance, but it’s certainly in the minority when looking at the entire city.
      For example, a good estimate for a home built in the last 20 years with a roof in good shape, about 1800 sq-ft at a price of around $250,000, the homeowners insurance including wind and hail, would likely be around $2000 for the year.
      As for the cost of flood insurance… I don’t have a good estimate for you on that, but I’ll try and do some research tomorrow and find out for you.

    Hey Jeff I had a curiosity and this might be a video idea, idk. I am looking to move down from central TN within the next year (I had sent you a text about it about a month ago actually), and I was curious on your thoughts on cost of living in Mobile vs across the border in Mississippi and also across the border in Florida. In short, someone like me can pick from 3 different states in a fairly small geographical footprint so I was wondering if you had any input toward that. I am 99.9% set on Mobile btw. Thanks and keep up the awesome content! People like us really get great use out of this stuff.

    • @livinginmobile
      @livinginmobile  2 роки тому

      Thanks so much for the comment. It’s difficult to compare apples to oranges, but I would say the cost of living in southern Mississippi, Southern Alabama, and the northwest panhandle of Florida is very close. I think it really boils down to visiting all three locations and just figuring out where you want to live. All three areas vote similar, the weather is similar, and the cost of living is similar.

    Is there a Amazon warehouse in mobile and how’s the rent. And is there any government help for homeless families but willing to work hard

    • @livinginmobile
      @livinginmobile  2 роки тому

      Yes, there is an Amazon warehouse, just off of interstate 10. As for rent, I know several people whose rent is under $1000, but it really just depends on where you want to live and the size of the apartment. As for the homeless, Mobile offers different places with different services, but you would have to look into them specifically to see what they offer.

    • @livinginmobile
      @livinginmobile  Рік тому +1

      Sometimes it's tough talking about rentals because each property management company is going to have a different set of rules. With regard to apartments, those details would be changing constantly, so it's best to reach out to each company individually. I hope my videos will help you become familiar with the overall area of Mobile when it comes to neighborhoods, shopping, etc...
