Have you ever lived in a new house? What is one feature you want in your dream home?

20AMP receptacles, high performance build (e.g. Zips, flashed windows & doors, water sealed, etc.), 3 car garage, laundry room, pantry room, Selkirk Stone wrap (Rustic Ledge, Bonner County), custom granite, Stainless appliances, Farmstyle kitchen sink (stone), on suite Baths & walk in closets for each bedroom, 1 story (or at least, master BDRM on ground floor), great room, .... very long list, which why I will probably have to build our next house ('cause we built the last one, too, lol). Customers can be a pain in the tail, can't they? 🤣🤣

Flexibility..eg..larger shower and no bath tub. Extended counter space in kitchen
Side garage not frontal. Not keen on the full open concept.
Love smaller communities and not all cookie cutter. Mix of homes preferred. Great vlog 👍

@@irishinusa1615 Thank you. I’m not a huge fan of open concept either. My new house is a semi-open concept, if there is such a thing.

@@livinginmobile Open concept used to be called a "great room", which might include a large meeting area usually including an oversized fireplace in the middle, maybe including an informal dining area to the side, stairs rising to the bedrooms above, with perhaps a balcony overlooking the great room from above. The choice open concept versus transitional room divisions for kitchen, family room, dining room, living room, and so forth, comes down to functionality. The house we raised our kids in was more or less traditional. 2600 sq ft, nice floor plan overall, but after 20+ years living in it, we realized that half of the main floor rooms were never used. We didn't entertain much, the kids hung out in the family room which adjoined the kitchen and eat-in kitchen nook, and the rest of it went unused. We tried changing it up when the kids were older (high school/college), and moved the "family room" functionality into a large living room, while converting the family room into an activity (pool) room. The end result was simply that "other" rooms were unused. For a family that dines formally each evening, gathers with company on weekends, a traditional floor plan may work OK. The "open concept" idea was in my mind, simply a surrender to (a) modern life, where families gathered less formally, (b) smaller families (i.e. less need to push kids into secondary rooms, while the adults remain in the formal spaces), and (c) smaller houses (particularly in some high cost areas of the country). Anyhow, as I said, we're probably a lost cause. After 3 houses, the last one we built ourselves, I'm not sure we'll find a tract-built or tract-generic-custom home to meet our needs. (Of course, it'd be a HUGE help if we could figure out where "home" will be next year, lol. It's just the little things that are important in a moving plan. 😏)

@@scottb3188 I have seen so many people live in homes with space that goes unused. That is why I purchased my latest home. We have a bonus room upstairs, but it is not isolated like my former home. In the past, the bonus room was shut off from the rest of the home. But the new one is centrally located in the home encouraging everyone to hangout there. We love it!

Jeff is fantastic! My family and I drove down to Mobile AL from NYS recently and met with Him. Jeff is a great guy to deal with and he genuinely cares about his clients! If we are blessed enough to make our escape from NYS next year we will be contacting Jeff again!

It was such a pleasure working with Jeff Jones when purchasing our home in Mobile. Jeff made this process so easy for me and my family. Like many people (and probably you if you’re reading this), my wife and I were looking to escape the cold snowy winters and high property taxes in New England. Most of everything we did was remote and Jeff was a trooper. I can’t express our gratitude enough to Jeff and Avery for their professionalism, patience, and knowledge when it came to finalizing our housing purchase. This team is the real deal.
Having seen a few of Jeff’s UA-cam videos prior to reaching out, there was an instant connection between me and the town that I used to call home the first 22 years of my life. I was originally born and raised in Mobile and when I saw Jeff’s passion for our city in his videos, I knew instantly that he was our guy. Just like he says in the video, when you call, he picks up! But not only that, when we finally met Jeff in person, I felt like I was talking to a long time childhood friend. This didn’t even feel like a business deal. Jeff (and Avery) were very conversational and super easy to relate to. We went the new construction route and Jeff mentioned things that I would’ve never imagined (like getting a home inspection) even though it was a brand new home. Who would’ve thought? Luckily we had Jeff because the home inspector found some small items that needed to be addressed although the home had been built 7 months prior.
Overall, we love our new home and the subdivision we chose. Jeff Jones made this process very easy and convenient. There’s not too many people out there that look forward to selling/buying a home and going through all the moving process but the fact that we know a guy that can get us through it and take a lot off our plate makes us feel relieved. We highly recommend Jeff Jones and will use him again.

Thank you, I know so many buyers from out of town don’t know the process of how things are handled here in Mobile or Baldwin County compared with other places around the country.

Our last home and current home were bought as new builds. Love an all brick home (almost impossible to find here in Phoenix). Absolutely hate vinyl siding (fortunately, not much of that here in Phoenix). Cement composite siding is okay as well. Prefer neighborhoods with sidewalks on both sides of the street with trees lining the sidewalks for shade. Not a huge fan of open concept though. Too much noise from the kitchen while trying to watch t.v.

Thanks for the comment. It’s interesting you say that about open concept. I’ve gone to battle over this and have been beaten down repeatedly! I tend to agree with you. The house we just purchased a few months ago has a semi-open concept, and it is just right. There’s just enough separation to soften some of the noise.

@@livinginmobile Semi open concept is okay. My ideal Mobile home would be a 70s/80s ranch style with the full length front porch, with floor to ceiling windows in the rooms (including transom windows). I would probably turn the formal living and/or dining room into a den/office. Side entry garage/carport as well. Something like you'd typically find in Lamplighter Woods or Carriage Hills.
