    Im a service tech at discount tire, I am seeing very many mistakes here. You dropped the tire on its face multiple times, you didn't let the wheel spin after applying needed weights, you snap torqued like crazy, and you didn't do a torque check. You do realize people's lives are in our hands when we are servicing their car/tires. You must do a quality job and not just care about time. Time is not as important as making sure the customer is safe in their automobile.

      Jacob McCurry I guess that's the difference between a tire guy and a mechanic. The tire guys have to rush to make18$ an hour so they are hacks. Also look at the guy's back bent over all the time, lifting with back, there's no way you can do that every day all day long for 35 years. Stupid guys. Just take the time and do it properly.

      he’s not over torquing it. He’s using a torque wrench, it makes a click when it’s brought to spec. 100ft/lbs takes more muscle than tightening your carburetor jets. The “jerk” gives him the torque needed to do the job.
      the biggest safety aspect I see is no cage for inflation.

PLUS they didn't record the rest of wheel torques AND back out and retorque ... jobs not done until the job is completely done, ALSO! didn't lube none of them bit**es so can bet at least one of those was slightly torn on the bead, have fun when he comes back in within the next couple hrs for a repair cause of bead leak unless he decides to run it flat and needs a whole new tire LOL!!! 😅😂🤣

  • @swotoole1030
    @swotoole1030 7 років тому +33

    Okay you did it fast, but you also did it wrong! After the tires were aired up and then the valve stems were put in the tires the tires the tire pressure was not checked again to ensure pressure was still at proper level and after the tires were balanced and the weights added the balance was not double checked. It is good to be fast customers like fast in and out. But never sacrifice. A proper installation with double checking everything is done correctly is key! A improper tire installation can cause a serious accident and even possible death. If I had been standing there and saw that in my garage I would have made my guys take all the tires off and double check the pressure and the balance then put them back on before allowing the customer to leave with their car.

    Impressive. The only things I would have a question or doubt about are:
    1. Air pressure was not double checked after the valve cores were replaced (this is best practices).
    2. Balancing was not double checked (re-balancing also is best practice to ensure that the proper weight was added and that it was added on the correct location).
    3. The lack of care in handling -- actually, throwing -- the torque wrench may adversely affect its calibration. I would not feel confident that the lug nuts are tightened to specs.

      @@phalspar duallies are different. They have to be put on the machine with the offset up, meaning the outside tires are done upside down. This has to be kept in mind with asymmetrical tires or white lettering. Truck tires are also harder to mount and balance because it's at least a ten ply tire. Also there's the obvious fact that there are six tires rather than four. Trucks are heavier and require heavier lifts. They aren't difficult, but they are certainly more difficult than tiny tires on 14" wheels.

    i did 10 min. alone 4 tire mounted and balanced. all double checked pressure and balancing. that one time when the mechanic that was taking care of the inspection told me too hurry up cause the car had to be out in 15. whish I had someone to balance tires for me prob. be around the 4 min. mark but hard to say if we could beat you guys. I'll sure try soon enough even if both our mounting machine and balancing machine are a bit different from yours.

    Ive been changing tires for 3 years now and im way faster then this guy, easy 16in steel wheel no tpms , try 16in alloy or chrome with corrosion build up on beeds of rim, try 16in with tpms also

  • @anglermatt
    @anglermatt 3 роки тому

    No lube on the tires, didnt check the spin, trusted the air pressure was correct without actually looking back at the gauge, throwing tires around and you dropped 2 tires on the rim which can damage the wheel, slow down and just do it right

    Definitely not a world record.
    When I was busting tires, me and my buddy started the clock when one of us yelled to the other what tires to pull and record DOT#s for as we were getting into the car to drive it to the lift and didn't stop the clock till the car was back in the parking lot. 4 minutes:47 seconds; Four new tires and stems, mounted, balanced and washed. We'd only do it for people who challenged us with a case or beer to do it in less than 5 minutes and who didn't mind a little aggressive driving in their cars. It was kind of a show management encouraged us to put on.
    There's just no way these 'modern' machines could keep up with a Coates 2020 in good repair and fitted with an air blast ring.
    That's why it so utterly irks me when I have to go into a shop, these days and wait around for over an hour (AFTER they put the car on the lift).

    Tires are symmetrical and quality controlled to be round. Balance not needed with new tires. Just another charge to the customer.

    • @yfnratchet
      @yfnratchet 5 років тому

      antty zale | It aint their new tires it’s the rim
      The edge of the rim could be deformed, there could be buildup in the drop center, the fresh lube could accumulate in one side of the tire. All of these factors add up to only a few ounces- but those few ounces could blast you off the road. On the Autobahn or the interstate in Montana that’s an instant get-out-of-life free card, redeemable immediately.

    Fast but to make it "legaler" (not a word yet) cars are already jacked because unless you all use the same car.......wheel nuts are checked for tightness before. All the same size tires valves etc. The balance has to be film checked for balance. Could use a hanging camera and split screen the check. And wheel nuts have to be checked for tightness after. But that wouldn't be part of the time. One gun one wheel changer one balancer. How long for just one person.......?
