- Here’s a simple and flavorful Chicken Masala recipe:
Ingredients:
500g chicken (bone-in or boneless, cut into pieces)
1 onions (finely chopped)
23 tomatoes (pureed or finely chopped) or a can of tomatoes
2 tbsp oil or ghee
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
2 green chilies (slit, optional)
2 tbsp yogurt (whisked)
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tbsp red chili powder (adjust to taste)
1 tbsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
½ tsp black pepper
Fresh coriander leaves (for garnish)
1 cup water (adjust for desired gravy consistency)
Instructions:
1. Marinate the Chicken:
In a bowl, mix chicken with yogurt, turmeric, chili powder, and a pinch of salt. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes (or overnight for better flavor).
2. Prepare the Masala Base:
Heat oil/ghee in a pan.
Add chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add ginger-garlic paste and green chilies. Sauté until the raw smell disappears.
Add coriander, cumin, black pepper, garam masala, paprika
3. Cooking the Chicken:
Add marinated chicken and mix until coated with the masala. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
Add a can of tomatoes
Pour water, cover, and simmer for 20-30 minutes until the chicken is tender.
4. Finishing Touches:
Garnish with fresh coriander leaves.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve hot with rice, roti, or naan and a side of raita or salad.
